UPDATE: I’m stuck in Waikiki. Without underwear.

After a three-hour de-icing delay and a cancelled flight to Molokai, their checked bag got sent to the wrong airline. Now they're stuck in Waikiki with only the clothes they wore on the plane, no underwear, and a dying phone battery. The storm makes it impossible to reach the mall half a mile away.

Good morning! So you may be able to tell, but I'm not on a boat yet. I had one of the craziest travel days to Hawaii that I have ever had in my like 10+ years of living there. So it started in Seattle. You saw yesterday's post. I sat at the gate for over 3 hours waiting to get de-iced. We took off and we landed just like an hour late, which was awesome, but on the way there I got an email that all of the flights to Molokai were canceled. So luckily Hawaiian Airlines has Starlink, and so I was able to book a hotel here on Oahu in Waikiki for the next couple of days to basically wait the storm out, because flights to Molokai are on teeny tiny little planes, and I'm actually really glad that I didn't wind up going on one yesterday because it would have been puckering, let me tell you. I'm waiting for my bag and it never comes, so I talked to some of the lovely people at Hawaiian and they are like, "We don't know, we'll figure it out." So they found my bag and it had been brought over to the airline that I was going to take to Molokai and it was in a secure area that they didn't have access to. So with like 10% battery left on my phone at this point, I call an Uber, I get to the hotel, and all I have are the clothes on my back. Oh, and I was smart enough to bring a pair of shorts, so I had a pair of shorts, but I'm literally wearing— I don't know if you can see— I'm wearing the shirt I wore on the flight yesterday inside out because for some reason that seems less gross. So I get to the hotel and the entrance is like open air and there's a bar right at the top of the stairs and people are sitting at the bar getting like soaked. Like, look at this. And I love it. I love the dedication. You get that free aloha drink, Janice. So today my mission is to find underwear. The problem is I'm only half a mile from the mall, but it looks like this outside. So yeah, I'll keep you posted. The storm is supposed to be pretty awful until sometime Sunday, so I might be here until Sunday or Monday without a rain jacket.
