Parents should teach kids that college rewards leadership and service, not just grades. Colleges want students who contribute to their community and pursue what matters to them. Frame college as a stepping stone, not the finish line.
Chapters
That's exactly what it takes to get into college. So remember, we're preparing our children for their future. College is a stepping stone. It is not the end game. And when you look at college as that opportunity, it's really about adulting. Wouldn't you want your child to serve another person before they adult? I would. Wouldn't you want them to lead something they believe in? I would. What about participating in something that makes them feel good? I would. So the same things you're talking about, James, is exactly what colleges are looking for. Students to come on the campus and not sit in a desk and absorb some knowledge and leave. They're looking for future leaders who are going to come and make the campus better, more exciting, more enjoyable. People who are going to serve their community.
