Spirituality or Money?

In this monologue Siddharth Rajsekar addresses the common belief that spirituality and the pursuit of money are mutually exclusive. He explains that many spiritual teachings appear to discourage desire and accumulation, leading some to think that true spirituality requires renouncing material pursuits. Rajsekar challenges this by citing the Bhagavad Gita: when Arjuna wishes to abandon his warrior duty on the battlefield, Krishna rebukes him, emphasizing that a kshatriya’s responsibility is to act, not to withdraw. From his own spiritual master, Rajsekar has learned that genuine spirituality is not about personal detachment but about employing all resources—including wealth—in the service of the Lord and others. The core message is that one can be spiritually grounded while actively engaging in worldly responsibilities, provided the intention is self‑less service rather than ego‑driven gain.
