Hello, my name is TJ and I am with the Millennial Masterclass. I joined this group just recently and I saw a couple of questions from a few people who were asking, what is a good mentor and how do you select one? So I want to be a contributor to this group and I want to get to know all of you.
And yeah, so I want to give you my perspective on how to find a good mentor and what a good mentor is. This is just my perspective. And everyone else can please, please, please comment below. So if I could do it all over again. And I have made millions of dollars in real estate I have on both residential and commercial property, and I have spent thousands of dollars in mentorship. And here's what I found.
If you have a mentor and you pay anywhere from 300 to $500.
More than likely it's going to be for group coaching. You know, I'm one of those little box of rocks people. I guess I needed one on one because the group coaching was just too general. I actually wanted, when it all came down to it and I found a deal, I wanted somebody to look at my deal with me and walk me through it. And at that price point, that's not feasible. And you know, a lot of people who are making the most money in real estate, they don't necessarily have time to mentor people. Even though they have systems in place, they're dealing with their family, they just have a whole bunch of stuff going on. So for instance, I invest in real estate. I've been doing so since 1999. I have several businesses and my 13 year old daughter who is like, whoa, my biggest investment. That's why I'm sitting here in the parking lot shooting this video right now. But people just don't have time. So you know, they don't necessarily charge because they need your money. They charge because they're really trying to help. But they gotta make sure that you're serious about it because it's just not worth the effort when you decide to mentor somebody and they're not giving it 12,000%. And trust me, I could give you every single drop of knowledge that I know, but you might not become a millionaire just like me because you don't do what I do. I eat, breathe and sleep business, period. Outside of my daughter, this is all that I do. So that's just a perspective. If you want one on one hand holding and you're gonna pay anywhere, I'd say between 3 to 7 to $10,000 is a good number.
What is good mentorship? I Wouldn't want anybody who had, who deals with a whole, whole bunch of people. To me, that's a group. I want a mentor who has no more than five to 10 people at a time and they focus on me. It's. Especially if I'm paying good money for it. I need you there. I need you. If I need for you to walk a property, then that's what I need for you to do.
And not be real, hands off with it. You know, I don't want to watch a whole bunch of videos. If that's what you need to need for you, then that's a different story. But I'm just telling you the box of rocks method that I needed. I actually didn't mind dealing with somebody who could take me from making zero in real estate to making 25000 in one month. That meant to me that I skip a whole bunch of learning curves. And that's what mentors do. They help you to skip those learning curves, dodge those bullets, and keep yourself out of jail. Because.
I'm in Houston. It can be a really, really cutthroat market in both residential and commercial real estate. And a lot of people just don't understand.
You making that type of money so fast. It's fast to them, it's not fast to us. I mean, it's perfectly illegal what we do. But I mean, a lot of people just don't understand it because they go to go to work every day and it's just hard for them to grasp. So, I mean, that's just my two cent. I hope this helped. If you have questions or comments below, please do not hesitate to ask me.
There are group coachings available. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that offer perspectives. I'm. I mean, you know, God has been good to me, so I want to start helping people more and I'm going to start dropping just little nuggets of content about how to evaluate properties, how to negotiate, how to look at comps, what resources you can look at comps, and most of all, how to set up a system. Because if you don't have a system, you are wasting a whole lot of time and running in circles. So I'm gonna drop some free stuff for you guys. Stay on the lookout for it. And like I said, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to put it in the comments below. God bless y'. All. I'm rooting for you. This is TJ with Millennial Masterclass. All right.
