Notary Public Trivia | How to correct mistakes during a loan signing

TJ explains how to fix mistakes during a loan signing. Never use white out: cross through errors, have everyone initial the correction, and send the corrected copy to the lender. If you've already stamped the document, you can't fix it—you need to meet the signer again and redo the notarization.
Hey. Hey. This is TJ with Solutions by TJ Andrew. We're about to do some trivia, so get ready. All right, first trivia question. T.J. yes. Can I use white out on the documents?
And the answer is.
No. Don't use white out on those documents. If you make a mistake, simply cross through the mistake, write in your signature, and have your client write in their signature as well. White out is can be seen as tampering because they don't know who did it. So you have to correct documents in the correct way. If your certificate and your mistake is incorrectable, let's say you're at a signing and you make a mistake on a document, you have two copies of that document. One to give to the lender and the other for the home buyer. The homeowner take a copy out of the home buyer's documents and replace it with the lender copy. Let the homeowner keep the copy that has the mistake. Okay. And the corrected copy goes back to the lender. If it's on your certification part and you've made a mistake on both copies, what do you do then? If it's in your certification portion, your notorial portion of that document. Simply cross out the wording and the lines to. To make sure that there are no blank spaces, write in, see attached. Loose leaf certificate. You should have copies of loose leaf certificates with you and take that certificate and complete the loose leaf and add it to the documents. That's the best way to do it. Now, that's not to say that the company that hired you won't have you go back out there and make a correction. You cannot correct anything after you've stamped your the document. You have to go back, get back in front of your signer and redo it. You cannot get home and correct any document. Don't do it. You have to meet up with them again. All right, that's one trivia question. We got a lot more to go. Let's see what you know because I've been teaching you a lot. This is TJ with Solutions by tj. Like this video?
