In this motivational talk, the speaker guides listeners on reclaiming personal power by first cultivating awareness of what energizes versus drains them. She explains that tasks that feel unusually hard—described as the "broccoli effect" or "flossing effect"—signal where power has been relinquished. By recognizing these moments, individuals can choose to delegate, shift their mindset, or set boundaries, moving from effortful resistance into a state of flow where they operate fully empowered and aligned with their natural energy.

Let's talk about power, personal power, your power. The first act of taking back your power from wherever it went is using the idea of awareness. What is awareness? Start looking at what charges me up, what excites me, what puts me in a feeling of flow, what makes things feel like time is moving quickly and I'm enjoying the moments, and what is dragging, what is so hard, what does feel like effort, When I have clients who are struggling with energy, it's almost as if, ugh, lifting my arms is so hard, or running errands is so hard. And if something feels that challenging or difficult, become aware of it. It is usually a place where your power is not engaged, whether you've given it away, whether you just don't want to do something. And there are always things we have to do. I call it the broccoli effect or the flossing effect. We all have to floss our teeth even though we're not excited to floss our teeth. So, there are things that we have to use our willpower or our effort for, but sometimes the first act of taking back your power is realizing where do things feel so hard and like so much effort? That, my friends, is where you can start learning how to either delegate, have a mindset shift, or set a boundary so that you can move out of all of that efforting and all of that challenge of where your power is not with you and into that space of flow. Flow, into that space of you being you and fully powered by your own in-power.
