In this roughly ten‑minute YouTube video, Master T (Theresa Byrne) leads a low‑impact, martial‑arts‑inspired movement routine designed to alleviate inner stress and boost mental well‑being. The session blends punches, uppercuts, knee strikes, hip circles, stance work, and breathing cues, drawing from boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and taekwondo. Throughout, Master T emphasizes whole‑brain engagement by crossing the body’s midline, offers adaptations for different fitness levels, ages (from teens to 80‑year‑olds), and physical abilities, and stresses the importance of balance, alignment, cardiovascular health, and self‑monitoring to avoid injury. He repeatedly links the physical motions to emotional regulation, noting that ten minutes of movement can shift mood for the whole day. The tone is instructional, conversational, and supportive, with an enthusiastic, encouraging sentiment toward participants.

4. Hi, Theresa Byrne, Master T here. If you're in a place and you want to move your body and you want to get some blood flowing, I invite you to join in. I'm going to start with punches across the body and rotate. Shoulders are down. There's a lot to each of these things. I like to use moves from boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, taekwondo, and a variety of other arts and fitness stuff to get blood and energy moving through our bodies. I don't know about you, but there are many days where I definitely need to move my energy so that I can be who I want to be, so I can show up how I want to show up. All right, we're going to turn these into uppercut punches, and I want you to think about that same hip rotation. And this time you're bending your arm and you're punching up. You're still crossing the midline of our body— of your body. Our bodies do very well when we can incorporate both sides of our brain or whole brain, and some of that means crossing the midline. Just like this. 4, 3— this is good ab exercise— 2, and 1. Good. Next brain part, we're going to tap opposite hand to opposite knee. Now if you're feeling pretty flexible, you might be able to get a forearm there. That's fine. Or you might be able to get an elbow there. That's fine too. But just pick whichever one works for you. We're working on balance. I always need balance work. We all need balance work, actually. 4, 3, 2. Last one this side. Last one this side. Good. Now we're just going to step like you stepped in something yucky. Pick up your knee and extend your toe. You do not have to kick high. These are not built to go into someone's head or face unless you're warmed up, unless you're trained for that. There is, there is no perfect height. There are a variety of target angles that you can use with the tools that you have. And now we're going to go to the sides. You pick up your heel and extend, extend, extend. Breathing in, breathing out. I love martial arts. It's something that I believe people can do. I would like to be able to do up through my 80s. 2 and 1. Good. Nice. Right here, take the knee out and circle it. I have students who are in their 80s, and I have students who are teens and younger, but there are some specific body alignment pieces that we all need. Balance is one of them. Strength or resistance is another. Cardiovascular health, range of motion, All of those things are very important, along with water and rest and sleep. So many things, right? All right, now hip circles. These are great if you've been sitting a lot or you tend to sit a lot. Switch directions. One of the reasons I love doing this, these videos, is it gets me out of my head. I get all up in my head about what I need to be doing, what I should be doing, what I could be doing. Ah! We all know there are ways, particular ways that we all thrive. And depending on how your body works— bent elbows, arms going forward— depending on how your brain and your body works, maybe it's pressure, right? Maybe it's procrastination. Maybe you're hard on yourself. Go backwards. Maybe you're hard on yourself when certain things aren't happening. And if that's the case, getting up and doing just 10 minutes of movement like we're doing can change your perspective. Good. Now I want you to bring your arms across your body, palms down. And we're gonna switch which arm comes on top. Nice. And now step out, open your chest. Step out, open your chest. If you can, inhale as you open, exhale when you come down. And again, that depends on you and your breath. 3, 2, and 1. All right, go ahead and put your left leg forward. I guess it's right on you guys. It's right on Start me. with right leg forward, and you're going to throw a palm strike forward. So think about rotating your hip as you send that movement forward. If you've done these videos, you've seen me do them quite a bit. It's one of my favorite things to teach, especially beginners. But continue making sure your ears do not go up to your shoulders. 4, 3, 2, 1. Nice. Switch, other leg in front, same motion. Push, push, push. And I try to make these videos low impact, so I never want you to hyperextend your arm. I have a weird double-jointed arm, but you extend, extend without hyperextension. Use your muscles to stop the force, not your joints. 3, 2, 1, nice. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, Now 4, 3, 2, 1. we're going to use an elbow, and I want you to think about you're going side, side, side, side. Great for shoulders. Boom, boom. And probably also a good dance move depending on what kind of music you like to listen to or move to. These videos and a lot of my boxing, kickboxing, and martial arts class tend to be done to EDM because there's great beats to it. Boom. Boom, boom, boom. Four, three, two, one. Nice. All right, let's go. Right leg forward. We're gonna go jab, cross, uppercut, uppercut. One, two, up, up, up, up. Now I go kind of fast. We can go one, two, uppercut, uppercut. One, two, up, up. One, two, up, up. Or You can always speed it up, slow it down, speed it up. Let it work for you. Our bodies were not designed to do everything someone else does or can do, so you got to figure out what works for you. 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We're gonna add on to this. Now we're gonna go jab, cross, uppercut. Uppercut, like you're reaching for someone's head. Knee, knee. 1, 2, up, up, reach. Knee, knee. What? 1, 2, up, up, reach. Knee, knee. But Master T, it's so slow. I know, we'll speed it up. Last one slow. Knee, knee. And go to your level of comfort. Knee, knee. Jab, cross, knee, knee. Jab, cross, up, up, deep, deep. Jab, cross, up, up, deep, deep. A lot of places, and martial arts was always taught, motion creates emotion. So that's something we've used for many years. So in the motion of doing martial arts, boxing, Kickboxing, even fitness or movement classes, you're changing your emotion using your motion. Last one here. Knee, knee. Nice. Shake it out. Okay, we're gonna do something in the center and then we'll move to the other side. So I want you to have a nice deep-ish horse stance or sitting squat stance. Deep meaning you're just bent, you don't have to go all the way into a squat. And from here, I want you to go uppercut, uppercut, uppercut. Good. Try not to bend forward, tighten your core, let your shoulders rotate, and you're in that light squat position, or sitting stance, or stance, depending. 8, 7, keep it up, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Nice! Shake it out. Can you go to the other side? Jab, cross, uppercut, uppercut. 1, 2, up, up. 1, 2, up, up. Always monitor your body for what feels safe for you and what won't injure you. No fitness is No instructor will know what's going on with your body unless you tell them. So you've got to be able to monitor and self-advocate for yourself. Speed that up. Jab, cross, uppercut, uppercut. Or you can take it slow, a single punch at a time. 1, 2, up, up. Or 1, 2, up, up. I like the fast version. Turbo. Everybody is built differently. And part of the mission, my mission, is teaching people how to honor that and know, be aware. How are you built? What works for your body? What works for your brain? What works for your spirit? How do you function best? Because not everybody's out there asking us. Oftentimes we're supposed to fit into whatever the mold is. You're supposed to do this much movement. You're supposed to You're supposed to eat these things, you're supposed to get this much sleep, you're supposed to go to bed at this time. It really doesn't work for you. 3, 2, we're gonna add those knees. Ready? Knee, knee, jab, cross, uppercut up. We got knee, knee, jab, cross, up, up, knee, knee, jab, cross, up, up, knee, knee. What? 1, 2. And I want to thank you. I've got messages about some of the groups working out using these 10-minute videos in conference rooms, and I just want to give you a shout out and say thank you for taking care of your mental health, your body health. 10 minutes of movement change your mood for the whole day. I'm already feeling better. There it is. 2 more. Last one. Now, all right, all right, check into your body. You're now warmed up. Maybe there's something else you want to go do. Maybe there's some stretching that you want to get in. Do it! You've got the time, you got the place. Enjoy. Thanks for joining in.
