In this 2024 YouTube workout, Master T (Theresa Byrne) leads a full‑body martial‑arts‑inspired fitness session that blends kickboxing defense, mobility drills, strength work, and mindfulness. The class opens with a centered stance and side‑weaving to evade imagined punches, emphasizing breath and natural movement. It progresses through hip‑circles, hip‑flexor stretches, and a series of double jab drills to activate the upper body. The instructor then introduces low‑impact balance and strengthening exercises—"warrior legs" (side‑leg lifts) and "warrior arms" (high blocks)—with options for chairs or walkers for those with balance issues. A fire‑hydrant‑style hip external rotation follows, targeting the glutes and hip stabilizers. The session continues with isometric hammer‑fist strikes, core rotations combined with palm strikes, and a customizable squat‑lunge sequence. Throughout, Master T offers injury‑aware cues (e.g., stop when pain is sharp, use compression garments for calf/ankle tightness) and motivational reminders about breath, emotion, and gratitude. The workout concludes with a brief gratitude practice, encouraging participants to acknowledge their breath and overall health.

Hi, Theresa Byrne, Master T here. If you've got the desire to move your body right now, move some stuff around so that you have full range of self-expression, we're going to do some martial arts kickboxing, some defense, and warm up your body. So let's go ahead and start. We're going to start with just a centered stance, and I want you just to weave side to side. So you're avoiding something coming at your face. In boxing, in kickboxing, in Muay Thai, we use these moves. If someone's coming at us with a straight punch, like a jab or a cross, we would move out the way. Get out the way! I've been teaching martial arts, fitness, kickboxing, everything, uh, for over 2 decades. I'm a master instructor and master trainer. All right, now we're gonna add a punch. So same thing with those legs bobbing and Weaving, going over to the side, little squat in between, and then nice and relaxed on your shoulders. Ah, breathing in, breathing out. Bodies love movement. Motion can change emotion. Motion, emotion, motion, emotion. So let yourself breathe, let yourself feel, and don't ever push your body harder than Then it feels natural. Pain is not a message to push through unless it's just muscles like, I'm tired. Pain means stop doing that. All right, take your punches up higher. I, if I'm training a lot, I get a lot of foot ankle pain because my calves get really, really tight, my shins and my calves. So I'm wearing these very cool compression garments that help a lot. So if you've got foot problems, ankle problems, let me know. I can, I can walk you through some stuff that you can do that makes it a little better. Now we're gonna take them over to the side. We're gonna take out the squatting part. Just rotate, rotate, rotate. Breathe in and extending as you rotate. Over to the side. 4 more. 3, 2, 1. Nice. Now here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna do a little move from martial arts. Hands on your hips if you want them to. Forward, side, back, side. So warming up your hips, warming up your backs. Do not bend too far in any of the directions. We're just getting your body ready. Switch directions. Good. Forward, side, back, side. Forward, side, back, side. Forward, side, back, side. Good. Couple more. 2 and 1. Nice. Hip circles while you're here. Pushing out, feeling it on your hip flexors. Sometimes our hip flexors can get tight and it'll pull on the opposite muscle group. Switch direction. And you can end up with low back pain. 4, 3, 2, 1. And my favorite, push out hips side to side. Stop those muscles from shortening as we sit. These can get shorter, so we're pushing them open. Nice. Now shake it off. All right, I'm gonna have you do a couple of double punches. And very, very simple. It looks like this. Double jab, double jab. So you're going to pull your hand back. Again, never hyperextending or never extending to the full motion. You're going to use your arms to pull that arm back. 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2. Boom, boom, boom, boom. And if your speed is this, That's fine. Just waking those muscles up, letting them know, letting them know you care, giving them some air, oxygen. 3, 2, and 1. Nice. Now, if you have balance issues or you need something to balance on, grab a chair. I have a walker that I used for hip replacement, and I actually use it now. This is an exercise that I call warrior legs. You're going to bend your knee out to the side and you're just going to lift that leg up. Now, depending on your flexibility, you might be able to go high. That's okay. I want the foot relaxed and I want the knee facing outside. As you're breathing in, tightening that core. And these are great exercises to help with knee pain. All these little muscle groups, you'll start to feel it, that support our knees or don't. All right, and switch to the other leg. Same thing, your foot is out like a figure 4 and you're going to pick your foot up straight using all these little muscles. Foot is nice and relaxed. It's kind of hard to see at this angle. My foot is coming straight up. Harder to see. The knee is coming out to the side. Warrior! I was working on a DVD called Warrior Workout, actually. Shake it out. A few years ago, and then ended up in a car accident and my life kind of changed. All right, next one we're going to do is a warrior arm. So let's say something is coming at your head. Might be light, it might be something you don't want, and you're just going to raise your arm up at an angle like that. It's called a high block. And I'm going to have my arm straight, and you're going to have your arm extended like— nice. And just like I've said before, you're going to use your muscles to stop the motion. This is an isometric. One of my favorite things is watching people train for their black belt And their bodies change. And it's not because that's the intention. It's because they are making it through, right? They're doing all their physical motions. They're doing all of their required reps. And they're not thinking about their body. They're using their body as a tool. So these are some of the exercises that I've seen change people's bodies. 3, 2, 1. And 1. So that's also a warrior arm thing. So we're gonna do warrior legs. Do you remember how I had you bend that leg at a figure 4? So this is kind of like a fire hydrant. So you're going to bring your leg up to the side, knee is bent, foot is soft. You're not using any of that extra motion to make your foot do the work. You're bending and using your hip. Boy, will you feel these, all these little muscles here. And these are not terribly difficult. They're low impact, but they work. And switch. Other side. Knee is bent like a figure 4. It's like a fire hydrant, fire hydrant. And in martial arts, we would be using this move to get ready for our next kick. You don't have to crunch, but you can. Focus mainly on that external hip. You might feel it here. 3, 2, 1. Whoo! Shake it out. All right, next set we're going to do what's called a hammer fist. This is a hammer. You bring the hammer down! Only if you needed to, right? So hammer fist is a motion like this. You're bringing your hammer up and down and you're using this part of your palm. But the difference is we're going to go side, side, side, side, side. And again, squeeze, squeeze, isometric, isometric, isometric, isometric. Yes, I know these aren't easy. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. We're almost done with this part. Squeeze, squeeze. 10 seconds. Hooah! Hooah! Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. Bring in the hammer, bring in the hammer, bring in the hammer. Nice. Shake it out. All right, we're gonna do a little bit with our abs. So I want you to think about sinking your weight, and you're just gonna rotate one side, center, one side, center. And now we're gonna extend, extend. Knees are bent. You're in a lunge— or I'm sorry, you're in a squat. You can make it a sumo squat. You can make it a shallow squat, whatever you want. Just extend all the way to the other side. Center, side, center, side. 3, 2, 1. Nice. Center it up again. Rotate other side. Nice. Now add that hand. Good. And I'm using a palm strike. I like the way the extension of the palm strike works the arms, the shoulder, and the core. Good. Keep going. Breathing in. These are great core exercises. Whoo-wee! Now, the last one of these we're gonna do, we're gonna go to both sides. You choose how fast you want to go. 1, 1, 1, 1, or 1, 1, 1, 1. You pick. This is a you thing. This is a you workout. Nice, keep it going. 15 seconds. You're doing awesome. So proud. Whoo! You're giving your body everything it needs right now. Movement, air, oxygen. You're moving it and you're feeling it. All right, shake it out. The way I end every one of my workouts, especially in person, is by a second of gratitude. So bring your arms up, just get grateful. For whatever you can feel grateful for today. Maybe it's just that you drew breath one more day. Thanks for being here. Thanks for taking care of your body, your brain, your health, all of it.
