Theresa Byrne demonstrates four muscle testing techniques to get yes/no answers from your body: lean forward or back while holding an object, open and close your fingers in a circle, resist knee pressure, or squeeze a ball. Your body's automatic responses signal what's beneficial or harmful.

One of the things I often work with my clients on is the idea that our bodies are always speaking to us. Our bodies are always trying to tell us something or give us information. My name is Theresa Byrne. I am a master self-defense instructor. I am a master trainer instructor in martial arts, and I teach women and men and kids how to set boundaries in a way that is graceful and is kind. And one of the first pieces of information that I have to teach is how do our bodies talk to us? If you are in the healing industry, this is called applied kinesiology or muscle testing. Well, it's great if you've ever been muscle tested by someone else, but how on earth do you do it for yourself? And I have taught children as young as 4 years old, 5 years old how to be able to know in themselves, is their body saying yes? Is their body saying no? Because our bodies are always telling us, is this for me? Is this not for me? And so I want to go over just a couple of the methods that I teach. One of the best ones, I think, that a lot of people use is the forward-backward motion. And so simply put, if something was for me, you would see me lean forward, and if it was not for me, you would see me leaning back. You would need to check that out by holding a water, holding a vitamin, and see when you hold that vitamin, does your body tend to lean forward? Or backward. If it's leaning back, it's not for you. And so that's kind of the question is, is this for me? Is this not for me? One of the other methods that I like to use— This one? I've seen this done also. It's a circle and you pull your fingers. And the idea is when something is not for us, when something is a no, our muscles tend to be weaker. We tend to have less strength. And so what you're looking for is things that bring you strength, things that help engage your power. I am all about InPower. It's the system that I created to help us Get and tap into that inherent power. So one of the other ones is this. So if I say yes, I shouldn't be able to pull open my own fingers. If something is a no, I have less strength when I open that circle. Another way that I have seen is— I can't quite get the knee up, but you can push on your opposite knee. And if something is a yes, your knee will stay strong. If something is a no for you, you will be able to push that knee down very, very easily. And again, these are all Automatic responses. Our bodies know yes. Our bodies know no. The only difference is we don't always have a chiropractor pushing on us to judge whether or not something is good for us or not good for us. One of the ways that I found, I was looking for information on how to use this for myself because some of these methods didn't always work, and I was guided into using a ball. This is a regular handball. I don't even know where I got it, but what I found was when something is a yes for me, I can squeeze the ball much harder. When something is a no, the ball gets much more difficult to squeeze. And I'm not even making this up. Yes, I can squeeze the ball. No, I can't. When I've done self-defense workshops, because part of self-defense is knowing what causes us harm or what could potentially cause us harm, I've had partners hold out their arm and someone will push on them when they are weakened in a no position, and they almost cannot believe that it's not fake. But it isn't. It's fake. Our bodies— we get to choose. The information is always coming to us. It's like we have these big antennas giving us information, and we get to choose. Do we listen or do we ignore it? Do we do something with that information or do we put it away? The rest is up to you. Hopefully this video will help you understand a little bit more about muscle testing, and I'll put a link into, um, some of these on Amazon. I found some great ones, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Thank you.
