I went to the doctors at the age of 12 and said I'm a homosexual, because of course the word gay didn't exist, and he laughed in my face. And then I went back at 14 and he actually prescribed me Valium as a 14-year-old boy. I don't know why and I don't know how, but I put them down the toilet, because if I hadn't and I'd taken them, I think I wouldn't have been here today. And then at the age of 18, my mum found a letter from a guy and she found out I was gay, but she was from the old school and she couldn't cope with it, she couldn't handle it. And we went to the doctors and the doctor told me there Sure, I believed him. They put me in a mental institute. See, I went in with a false name and I thought nobody would ever see me again. I remember there was two women in there that were in a mental institute because they'd had babies out of wedlock and they'd been there for years. They were institutionalized. It was scary, and I actually don't want to talk about what they did, but they tortured me. To this day, I still have nightmares about it, and I will never forget.
