Dr. Karen Perkins Interviews Tracy Hazzard From The Speaking Empire Event
7 Dec 2025 · 5 min
Live interview at the Speaking Empire Amplify event (Newport Beach) where Dr. Karen Perkins interviews Tracy Hazzard about using podcasting to market a business. Tracy frames a podcast as an efficient way to repurpose a speaker/coach’s voice and content (blogs, videos, social media) and offers a done-for-you launch that gets a fully functioning podcast live in 27 days or less. She recommends focusing on a narrow topic, treating the show as 'edutainment' (educate + entertain), recording existing conversations, and points listeners to podcaststartpoint.com (StartPoint) to get started.

Hi, I'm Dr. Karen Perkins, and we are live in Newport beach at the Speaking Empire Amplify event. And you know, I am the luckiest woman alive, because look who I get to be with. I am with the beautiful, the talented, the one and only Queen of podcasts, Ms. Tracy Hazard. And Tracy, I understand that you're not only the great goddess of podcasts, but you're the great goddess of helping me, who knows nothing about it. How to be fully functional in how many days did you say?
27 days.
Holy cats. 27 days or less.
You can do it even better. Be really eager.
Okay, so I have an idea, and I want to do podcasts, and I have no clue how to do this. What do you have for me?
Well, you have a business and you probably want to market it and you want to have your original voice come across. And wouldn't it be great if you could take that voice without having to have your hair done and do video every single day, even if you like it, and be able to then take that and help it to power everything you do in your business, your blog posts and your social media, and have it just power everything by just doing that in an audio way. So just doing it quickly and recording and just getting to talk and be yourself.
So how do I go about putting together the background stuff? And I mean, do I have to.
Do a lot of work or is.
This a done for.
You don't have to do anything except know what you want to podcast about, who you want to talk to, and let us do the rest for you.
So if I understand this correctly, being the goddess to podcast that you are, you've got all of the systems already set up and outlined, and you've got all the processes. So I just turn it over to you and do the little things that you tell me to do.
That's right.
And I just show up and I talk.
That's right. That's all you have to do. It's that simple. And you're probably doing it already. You're just now going to record the conversations you have with your clients, or you're going to record conversations that you're having with your friends, you know, your colleagues, the people you work with, your joint venture partners, whoever they are, you're just going to start recording them and asking them more specific questions than you might have asked them before. So you're already going to do something. You're already doing Skyping. How hard can that be?
Okay, so if I'm not really sure what kind of questions to ask can you help me with that? We can.
Because you want to be focused. You want to have a very specific topic. Because a podcast is like a TV show. It's an entertainment, an edutainment. So you want to educate and entertain at the same time. So you got to make sure that it's in your wheelhouse, something that you're an expert in or something that you is a part of your business. And then you want to make it fun and entertaining, so little exciting. So that's where we help out and inject it, make it look good and make it sound good and make it exciting and attractive to people. And then from there you just keep focusing on all those things that you already know that you're an expert in. Just keep adding topics and adding pain points that you want to help people with and adding things that successes and success stories that you want to highlight.
You know, I love that. And one of the things that you pointed out was the entertainment or the enter trainment or however you want to say it. And we're at the Speaking Empire Amplify event and they really go into helping us to be presentainers.
That's right.
And do other great things. But you know, I'm really, really curious. If you were to share one wow that you've gotten from the event so far, what would that be?
So my wow from this event is that, you know, the presentainer that they're talking about is not all that different from the edutainer that we're trying to get our podcasters to be. And really it's just so tied together in exactly how you do it. And so if you're already going through this and working through their process and you've already got all the things you need to formulate a great podcast as well. And it can just be one more thing that you plug in and one more thing like a book that you have that you're an expert in. I'm a podcast host. Sounds pretty good on your resume.
It really does. Now I need a podcast. Anybody who is coaching, consulting, speaking has a small business, has a medium sized business and probably some of the larger businesses need it too. And I really don't have the time to do all the study and learning or the desire and I need it done for me. I obviously need to come to Tracy Hazard. But Tracy, how in the world do I find you?
So it's really simple. It's just podcast. Startpoint.com that's it. It can't be simpler than that.
Startpoint.com and if you cannot remember. You need a start point for podcasts.
Probably.
Need to remember that. So, podcaststartpoint.com that's it.
That simple.
Well, so who's the best person to contact you?
Anyone who really wants to be a speaker, an author, an expert. And you have that building already. It's a great way for you to say, hey, I can draw an audience already. So if you want to go to that next level in that business, then you really need to show that you can draw that audience. A podcast is a quick way to prove that without a lot of extra effort. If you've already got a video, channel or any of those things, we can also strip the audio off and build you into a podcast instantly with no extra work.
Okay, so I want to show myself as the expert in my industry. A podcast is a fabulous way to do that. So you want to show yourself as the expert. Contact Tracy, and she's going to help you get there. 27 days or less. You have that done for you. Tracy, it has been such a delight meeting you and visiting with you today, and I'm excited about podcasts, and I know they're going to be, too.
Thank you so much.
