Ep 51: Clearing out your 'shit' for the real you to shine through with Cheryl Blossom

In episode 51 of the Reinvent You Podcast, host performance and life coach Travia Steward interviews therapist, author, and multidimensional healer Cheryl Blossom. Cheryl shares her personal journey—from a childhood of grounding others, through a near‑fatal car accident that sparked a deep spiritual awakening—to a career that blends a master’s in psychology, a doctorate of divinity, Reiki mastery, jiu‑jitsu black‑belt training, and over 40 years of therapeutic practice. The conversation centers on practical, body‑based tools for immediate stress reduction and long‑term anxiety transformation. Key techniques include a breath ratio (exhale twice as long as inhale), grounding roots from the feet or tailbone, the "3x3" noticing exercise (three external, three internal observations), and a guided visualization that treats anxiety as a "cinder block" to be measured, loved, and released. Cheryl outlines a five‑step formula: go internal, ground, locate the specific emotion, describe it in basic sensory language, and measure its intensity to shift toward peace. For interpersonal conflict, she recommends visualizing a plexiglass barrier and using the Hawaiian Ho’oponopono mantra (I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you). The dialogue also covers integrating multiple healing modalities—Reiki, NLP, Western medicine, and energy work—illustrated with case studies of veterans with PTSD and phantom‑limb pain. Cheryl explains the seven main chakras plus an eighth life‑purpose chakra, their locations, associated emotional themes, and how she clears blockages. The episode ends with an invitation for listeners to request a free 50‑60‑minute chakra‑clearing discovery session via email.

Awesome, Cheryl, thank you for joining us on the Reinvent You podcast today. I'm so excited to learn from you because I know the things that you're going to share with us will help me too, because I've had some challenging things. So welcome to the show, Cheryl.
Well, thank you. Thank you for having me be here. I'm so excited. This is, this is my passion, my life passion.
I love that. I love that. So, you know, I'm already curious, how do you know that it's your life passion? You know, a lot of people have that idea, oh, I gotta find my purpose, what is my passion? How were you able to find that?
Well, I think I've been a therapist since I was a little kid. Okay. I grew up in a kind of a challenging family, and I was the one that everybody came to, to, uh, get grounded and sorted out. And I, I could see things from a bigger perspective, I think, than where everybody was operating from. So I could kind of guide people to, to make better choices.
That is so cool. Wow. Yeah, yeah, I'm in awe of that. So, so that's a little bit of your origin story. Tell us, like, from that 5-year-old kid, how did you become the Cheryl that we're seeing today?
Well, Cheryl did go through some metamorphosis. Uh, I was in a car wreck in— when I was in my 20s and broke my neck, so I had a huge spiritual awakening and, um, learning to walk again and so on and so forth. There was a lot of healing modalities that I, um, chased after, explored, developed myself around. So not only, uh, the therapy work that I've got a master's degree in and, and trained myself to be a, uh, a better therapist, I've also taken hundreds of healing modalities using energetics and, and so on and so forth. So the kind therapy or the kind of work that I do encompasses it all.
Right. Oh, I love that. So cool. Like, like, this is gonna, like, feel like I want it to be, like, 6 hours long because I just have so many places I want to go with this, you know?
Yeah, that's great.
Yeah. So, you know, first of all, a lot of, like, my friends, like, outside of my coaching circles, my friends think this is woo-woo.
Right.
They're like, you know, this, you know, how does that even work, you know, with the Reiki, with, you know, just, just all of the healing modalities? Because so many people believe in go to the doctor, here's a pill, here's, you know, physical therapy, those types of things, right? Yeah.
Yeah.
How do you approach that?
Well, a pill can be magic, you know. I mean, truly, do we know how a pill works in our system?
No, no, no.
We trust that the doctors or the chemists or whatever have put together this magic potion that is actually going to make a difference. And sometimes it really does. Sometimes, you know, our Western medicine— I certainly invite people to use it all. But we've all had those experiences where intuition has told us to do something. And we either listen to it, and we're like, wow, I'm really glad I listened to that. Or we didn't listen to it. We went, oh darn, I wish I had listened to that little voice in my head.
Right.
So When I work with people, that's what I tell them. This is really about encompassing all of you. And when people say woo-woo, a lot of times it's— they want to either be convinced that they're more than their logical mind. And, you know, can you give them logic enough to get them out of their logic mind? No. Right. Because the logic mind basically shreds our higher information. Its job is to keep us stepping in practicality in this moment of time. Do this, do this, do this, do this. Now, the right side of our brain, or the part of us that holds the whole big picture, knows when you see a sunset, you're like, wow, you're transcended out of your logical mind. And so a lot of the healing work I do is transcending out of the healing mind, and you don't necessarily understand it. Like, all of a sudden you notice things are different, they're better, they're, you know, You're transformed and wow, how did that happen? Wow.
And how, you know, how do you teach, how do you work with people in order to do that? Like, I know, like I've done some work myself, like, you know, it's like your right side of the brain, your left, turn off your verbal brain so you can connect with you, you know? So people are like, like, I don't want people to go like, oh my goodness, I don't know what they're talking about on this episode, but it's way beyond me. How do you make this make sense? Like, starting with the intuition, how do you work with clients and teach them how to listen to their intuition, how to experience a sunset without getting in their heads?
Yeah, a lot. Breath is where one of the places I start is like allowing people to breathe out twice as long as they breathe in. That tends to stop the mind because there's a tendency when we're lit up about our flight or our fight or our freeze mechanism, that, that we hold our breath. It's just a natural physiological aspect.
Yeah.
And most of us breathe really high up in our chest and it creates anxiety. So I have people breathe out twice as long as they breathe in. And it doesn't matter the number. It could be you breathe in for 3, you breathe out for 6. And, you know, just a couple minutes of that. And all of a sudden people are like, whoa, I feel completely different in my system. So when, when somebody comes in to see me and they're, they're lit up, you know, they're upset. Usually I see, right, as you know, you see people in there and their, their highest anxiety upset is, you know, they're all lit up. So yeah, we can't talk about, um, you know, woo-woo stuff if they're in this place. You got to get them, you know, centered.
Absolutely.
So that's one of the first things I do. If it's really bad, you know, that they've got a few minutes to kind of calm down, then I have them drop roots out of the bottom of their feet and stretch those roots down into the earth. Just imagining dropping roots out of the bottom of your feet, it helps to bring the energy out of the head and the mind that is trying to figure it out and trying to protect us and trying to, you know, it's our protective personality that's on overload trying to save us from feeling the upset. So once we get people with their roots going out of their feet and they're breathing out more than they're breathing in, um, then they can calm down and we can kind of work on whatever the issue is. Another technique which is really useful is what I call the 3x3, and this is for people to take home and do, not necessarily when they're in front of me, but for them to be able to use it when they're particularly upset. They've had an argument or something didn't go the way they wanted to. They feel, you know, let down or disappointed, right? This 3x3 technique is very simple. It is you notice 3 things in your physical universe and you say it to yourself. Okay, I see the light, I see the blinds, I see my desk. Great. You know, that actually starts to have the mind be busy, and it's recognizing that you're located in this moment and of time, right? And then I have them close their eyes and, and locate 3 things inside that is going on. It's like, I'm upset, I'm holding my breath, I got tension in my hands, they're like fists. And then I have them open their eyes and do another 3— notice 3 things outside, close your eyes, notice 3 things going on inside. And you do this exercise until all of a sudden you're balanced. And you're here, you know, you're like, ah, okay, now I, now I'm here. Yeah.
I love that. Wow. That's so cool. And I love the roots coming through my feet, going down to plant myself. I love the imagery of that. So Cheryl, one thing that I know that I have struggled with. So last year at the beginning of 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, early stage breast cancer. And so 100%, I believe I'm healed. But every now and then it comes back to me that, like, like, I have blood work that I have to do in May. And so whenever I think of that or see the appointment on the calendar, there is a high sense of worry. I'm aware of it. I would love to know how to get rid of that, you know, the worry.
Yeah, yeah, that's, that's excellent. So first off, Congratulations for recognizing, oh, I've been hooked. Yeah, I'm hooked.
Oh, no.
Oh, no. And I know better, and I should stop my mind from doing this. And the more we say that, the more our mind ruminates on it. Yeah, absolutely. So one of the techniques that I have people do is locate that worry in your body. So, you know, I don't know if you want to take the minute to now do this.
Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it.
Okay. So close your eyes and then just kind of settle into your, your physical body. And when you think of this worry or you sense this worry, or you hear your mind going off on some of its little threads of what lights up the worry, where do you feel that in your body?
In my chest.
In your chest. Excellent. Good. So in your chest, What do you— where do you feel it exactly? And what does it look like? Like, as a— is— does it— a circle? Is it a fog? Is it dense? Is it—
it's a dense rectangle.
It's a dense rectangle. Excellent.
Now, cinder block.
Perfect. Is this cinder block attached to anything, or is it— is it energy just floating there in the chest?
It's attached.
It's attached. And what is it attached to?
Like, it's attached to the front of me, the back of me. Like, I feel the pressure right now because I'm thinking about it, like, coming through a point in my upper back.
Aha. Yeah.
And so, like, everything just got so much tighter up there.
Excellent. Does it have weight to it? Is it heavy or is it light?
Oh, it's totally heavy.
It's heavy. Is it, is it stagnant or is it moving? Is it pushing to the back or is it pulling?
It's stagnant.
It's stagnant. And is it smooth or is it bumpy?
It's rough. It's bumpy.
Yeah, it's bumpy. Okay, let's take a measurement from 0 to 10. How intense is the sensation right now?
You know, I didn't feel any of this until I started thinking about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I would say it's probably about a 7 right now.
Excellent. Good, good observing. So sitting there as the observer Allow yourself to breathe through this cinder block energy. Allow yourself to send love and light to it. It's not like you're trying to get rid of it, not like trying to do anything with it other than you are bigger than it. You are the observer. You're holding the space of it. And notice if it starts to shift, and the intention is not for it to do anything. This is— you are the observer. And describe a little bit more of it. Is it sitting upright or is it on its side?
Ooh, it's laying down on its side.
It's laying down on its side. Great. Now there may be memories associated with it. There may be, um, uh, story associated with it. You can put all of that on the shelf for right now. You can go back and look at this later, cuz this may represent something or it has memories to attach to it, but we don't wanna get lost in the memory. So keep bringing yourself back to the consciously aware of the cinder block sitting on its side and breathe into it. Nice. Good. Sending love, sending light, granting space for it to be there. You're not in argument with it. You're just grant— you're just getting bigger and bigger than it. You're giving it space to be there. Nice work.
Good.
Continuing to send love and light. Good. Let's take another measurement from 0 to 10. How intense is it?
It's probably down to about a, about a 3.
Nice work.
Good.
Continuing to breathe into it. Give it permission. Give it permission to be there. Thank it for, you know, warning you, or lighting you up to pay attention. You can just, you know, like you had a little baby, you can just say, yeah, I am paying attention and I'm loving you. I'm giving you complete permission to either be there or disappear. It's fine either way. I'm just granting space, space for this, continuing to send love, send light, send breath. You know, and yeah, and again, describing any things about the cinder block that you may notice. You're doing great because you went right to basic language, which is how it feels, not like representational language. And when I say representational language, a lot of times people go, well, I feel anxious, or I feel angry, or I feel— and that's one step removed from actually experiencing how we experienced as a baby and a young as a child before we had representational language to describe the feeling state. We want to get back to the feeling state and grant it permission to be there with love and appreciation instead of resistance and fear and I don't like you and stop doing that to me and you got me fearful. Yeah. So continuing to welcome it. Yeah. And bathe it in love and light. Nice, you're doing great. This is awesome. Wow, you're, you're so fast. This is really cool. Yeah, no, it's really great to talk to somebody who has this kind of body awareness. And, um, uh, yeah, let's take one more measurement of it. It's okay for it to disappear too.
Yeah, it's probably at a 1 now. It's still a little going, you know, tapping me softly on the shoulder.
Yeah, okay. Yeah. And, and, um, so we don't have to go all the way to zero at this point in time. You would want to do this if you were working with yourself, and you can always go back. Um, and sometimes these things, you know, the cinder block may show up in your throat. It may move.
Yeah.
So give it permission to travel through your body if it's gonna do that. It doesn't, doesn't necessarily do that. Sometimes it detaches itself from the different organs. Right. You know, it shrinks, and sometimes the thing just disappears, like, instantly. Yeah. So giving it permission for all, all of it. Yeah. And really taking that breath deep into the lungs, giving your lungs permission to, uh, yeah, you know that Yeah. One of the things that I'm just seeing here is there might be a level, a depth of grief to give yourself permission to experience. And you certainly don't have to do this now, but in working with this, it feels like that cinder block might have been a break from feeling the depth of the grief. Um, because our breasts are all about nurturance. It's about our feminine power, our sense of, um, uh, really how nurtured have we been, how nurturing, you know, really wanting to be free to really love yourself.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Nice.
Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Thank you, Cheryl.
Yeah, you're welcome. Yeah, yeah. I just— in looking at you, your energy is just like—
it's a little different.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thank you, thank you. Yeah. And so now, now I'm going, oh crap, I'm not on top of my game now. And that's because Cheryl has gotten me relaxed here. So, so when you're working— when you're working with someone through this, Cheryl, Is it a challenge? Is it an outcome to— what is the end result? Is it that accept it, allow it to be, or should we cure it?
Well, curing is an interesting thing. Curing is a Western model of I'm gonna, you know, yeah, fix this sucker instead of being in partnership with it. Like, it's clearly showing up to— as a communication to us, where we can use it to, to expand who we are. Um, it's like when I broke my neck, it's like I went through a lot of resisting, as you can only imagine. Like, damn it, I can't walk, you know? And I look like a hard-boiled egg. I had this massive neck brace. They had shaved my head because they did surgery. And so I've got this hard-boiled egg in an egg cup. So it wasn't like, it wasn't like I've always been, ah, peace, love, just hold it all and, you know, yeah, transcend it, accept it. Uh, no, I had to go through a fair amount of noticing what resisting feels like and noticing that it just caused me more and more tightness in everything that I was doing, and a lot more fear. A lot more fear gets lit up when we're tight.
Right.
The more we can actually relax and release and let go, the more we can call on our higher self, um, to give us strength.
Oh, I love that. What, what would you recommend for someone like, you know, I work with clients who are like having problems with a co-worker at work. They go into the office and the co— and like the, there's a supervisor who is like, you know, saying things, making them like challenging them, those types of things. And in that moment they're overcome with it, what could you do right in the moment when you are in a situation with someone else?
Yeah, uh, well, the close the door, uh, energetics is a really good one, which is, is seeing them behind a glass screen. Okay. You know, it's like, it's not like you want to shut them out completely, that you, you know, it's like, stay away from me, don't get to me. Yeah, because, because they're just going to get louder. More than likely, because they're upset. They've got something that they're, you know, they're either got a dominating personality or a bullying personality, or they want something from you that they're not getting, or they want something from you that they're not getting at home. Okay. And you happen to be the one that's going to get it between guys. So if somebody's coming at you with that kind of intensity, if you can imagine, you know, COVID's perfect for this because we see these screens everywhere, these plexiglass screens everywhere, um, to keep out the virus. Well, you can keep out the energy. Yeah, you can hear the words, but you can keep out all that energy that's coming at you that you feel like you must protect yourself from. Because that's a— you know, sometimes people come in with some serious energy and they know how to focus it in a way to manipulate their universe or dominate their universe. And if you're on the receiving end of that, it, you know, it doesn't all you can do is defend yourself. That's the first thing that comes up is I got to defend myself, or I got to protect myself here. And then you can't even hear what their complaint is. You can't even be with them about even wanting to give them the results that they're after because you're so like, get out of my space, or don't do that to me. It gets muddled, it gets messy, and it becomes a real challenge. So the very first thing I have people do is imagine that plexiglass.
Okay.
So you can hear what they're saying, but you don't feel the energy. You know, you can soften the energy. So that's one thing. And then I don't know if you've heard of Ho'oponopono healing technique, which is an old Hawaiian technique. Okay, very simple. It's 4 things that you say. The very first sentence is you say, I'm sorry. Now, this may seem counterproductive because they should be sorry, right?
Right, right.
You should be sorry. They should be sorry. But you could be sorry that you're in that situation. You could be sorry for yourself having, having a boss like this, right? You could be sorry for them that they're being like this because they're clearly not grounded and they're clearly not getting what they want in life because they're, they're never going to feel like people really want to give them what they want if they feel like they have to bully or dominate.
The universe. Okay.
They don't feel people— they don't feel the people— it's friendly. It's not a friendly universe to them. They're like, you know, manhandling the universe.
Right, right.
You know, you could be thankful you're not them, but the first thing that you say is, 'I'm sorry,' to yourself. You don't say it to them. That could cause a whole different engagement.
Okay, this is my internal monologue.
My— yeah, you gotta collect the glass and then you just say, I'm sorry. Like, I'm sorry that I'm in this situation of feeling like I have to protect myself. I'm sorry that you're, you're, you know, off the planet and upset. I'm sorry, you're, you know, this is how you manage people or your universe. And then, and then the next step is, please forgive me. And, and part of that forgiveness is always for ourselves. It's never for the other person. And forgiveness is a, is a place where you love yourself, you nurture yourself. It's like, you know, forgive me for, you know, being in a world where this goes on. Forgive, you know, forgive my— forgive humanity. You know, it could go deeper than me as a person, but forgive humanity for operating with each other this way and not being loving. You know, forgive the universe. But it's very simple. It's like, I'm sorry, please forgive me. And then you say thank you, because it's like, that's an acknowledgement that yes, absolutely, all that happened.
Right.
So you want to say, yeah, thank you. And then you say, I love you. And that way, if you start with I love you, some people can go straight to I love you. But boy, if you're defending yourself and you're upset and being feeling like you're dominating or having to protect yourself, I love you is not the first thing that comes up because the heart wants to just go backwards and protect.
Okay.
The heart does not want to be out there and get pummeled. I mean, it just doesn't—
right.
Our chest doesn't want to stay open. We don't want to breathe deep. Physiologically, we're an animal. We're ready to fight, right? We're ready to run away, or we're completely frozen in the moment because it's so upsetting.
Right.
It's a physiological experience. So after you put up the plexiglass and you kind of hold the energy back somewhat, then you can have this internal dialogue with yourself where you actually can get to a place of going, I love you, which is you're loving yourself. And as you love yourself, that love energy can actually— you know, people have had miracles with other people that they get something, that they stop being that way. Now, I'm not promising that because some people are really hard-hearted. Are hard-headed— either one. But it does wonders for yourself.
Okay?
Because otherwise you're stuck with their energy. You know, after you have an upset like that, for the next hour at least, you're in 'they shouldn't have said that,' right? I'm going to do this, and they falsely accused me, and I did do this work, and I'm not engaged with their energy. And it could certainly go on longer than an hour. It can go on for the whole day. Absolutely.
Yeah. So is that your 5 steps of turning anxiety into peace?
Yeah, the 5 steps is the thing that, that, that, um, yeah, for in dealing with another person, in dealing with our— and dealing with ourselves, basically, right? Closing your eyes, going internal. So that's the first step is, is going internal.
Got it.
Um, and grounding yourself, because if we're really up in our head, We're upset, we're in our head because the mind is wanting to protect us.
Right.
And so there's compassion there for ourselves for being so lit up. So the very first part is go internal, you know, really kind of understand that your mind's just going to be— it's going to be like two mad dogs. Just, yeah, yeah, I want to get them. No, I shouldn't have done that. And I should have done that. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
Right.
So just going internal, kind of noticing the mad dog happening, ground yourself. So the, the roots or the breath, you know, whatever works for you to ground yourself. So that's the second thing, is to ground yourself and breathe, you know, breathe and ground yourself. And then you find— then you locate, like you just did, in your physical body, the thing that you are going, what is, what is my top upset right now, right? It's where it's either worry, or it's fear they're gonna fire me. Or it's, I'm really super pissed off.
I don't—
they can't treat me this way, right? I'm not going to be treated this way. So you locate the exact thing that's got you lit up. You know, what is it? Is it worry? Is it fear? Is it, you know, anger? You know, what is the emotional thing that's lit up. So that's the third thing that you do.
Okay.
And then the fourth thing is you locate it in your body and you do the descriptive language, basic language, not the I'm pissed off part. That's where you start, which then you need to go into, well, how is that showing up energetically in my body and where, you know, is it in my throat? Do I feel like, you know, sometimes it's like I have this big hook in my throat and it's It's this thick and it's 3 inches long. And you start to describe it as a language that you would use when you didn't have language. You know, when we as human beings did not have language, we felt it and we described it to ourselves in that feeling state. And if we can go back to that basic language, not the representational language, because then we're 2 steps away from— and then we make up a whole story about it and the story doesn't give us relief.
Right?
In fact, the story can give us more upset.
Okay, okay.
So yes, so the fifth thing is, is the— is this in the measurement? Because as you measure it, you start to recognize, oh, it's energy. And then you, as you get good— and you're really super good— as you get good with this in your ability to be upset and do it, yeah, uh, you can take that energy down to zero. And then also you've got peace and you've got much more, um, of yourself available to respond, like an appropriate response.
Yeah.
Um, instead of reactive response, which is going to be much more, uh, you're just gonna love yourself more.
Yeah. Thank you so much, Cheryl, for sharing that. I love that. These are such great techniques that, you know, I know that my listeners can put into practice, like, in any situation. I love that. So I did notice on media sheet where one of your, your tagline is aligning you for the divine, aligning you for the divine, you to shine, shine through. Yeah, I love that. And so if you had to layman turn that, like, what does that mean for the average person, you know, who's listening to this?
Like, what does that mean? Is that woo-woo?
I'm not into woo-woo. How does that mean?
Well, it means that we're much more than the, the what we have, we give ourselves permission to use. We're much bigger than the logical mind.
Yeah.
And even though we trust the logical mind to maneuver us through the universe, I work with, I work with vets, I work with some of the most logical, you know, it's got to be reality-based.
Yeah.
You know, it's a death or life situation, man. They don't want to be woo-wooing it, you know. However, when they start to— when I start to work with them, because I work with them around PTSD, when I start to work with them, they start— they recognize that there's been intuition that has saved them, got them out of bad situations, where they just had a feeling state of like, oh, we should move this way. And, you know, right, misstepping on a bomb or something. But it also is a place where when I stretch them beyond their logical mind, they start to get relief. And I've had, I've had these vets come in that are, I, my therapist said I had to come here because I'm, I'm kind of on the, I'm on the end of, you know, they've tried everything, they've been on drugs, they've had therapy for years, they're, you know, um, it's kind of like, well, just give them to that chick at the end that does this, you know. Healing modality, and maybe they'll feel a little bit better. And I've had people— I took this one vet who, Vietnam vet, had lost a limb, lost his leg. And I mean, that's Vietnam, that was many years that he has lived in phantom pain, phantom limb pain. And they've tried everything, you know, electric shock and drugs and and so on and so forth to try to get him not being in pain around the loss of his leg. So we started working. He's kind of like, what is this? What is this shit? Yeah, my language.
No, no, we can say shit.
Okay, good, good, good, good. He's like, what is this? What are you going to do to me? So the first thing is, what is this? And then it's, what are you going to do to me? Right. What are you going to do to me? I'm well protected here. I'm well—
stand back.
Yeah. So in, in working with him, I actually got him to the place where he actually saw himself running down the hill, like his commander had said, go, get out of here, you know, because they were being overrun. And he was running down the hill and he saw himself midair, he saw the bomb, and he knew he was going to come down on it. And all of that sense of responsibility. Why did I do that? You know, how come I didn't maneuver my leg? Fuck Vietnam, you know, all that. I hope you can say that word too. But anyway, but that's kind of the emotion of it.
Yeah.
Where he was, he was, you know, back then they were— this wasn't a volunteer army. This was people were drafted. And, uh, there was a fair amount of anger about the situation. There was all this feeling totally out of control because he was there because he didn't want to be there. He was doing stuff that he didn't want to do. He was, you know, it was just him feeling totally not being able to be responsible. The minute he saw that, he saw that, that the other thing that started to unfold for him is he didn't want to kill anybody anymore. He was going to take his leg out so he could have an excuse to get out of the war. And the minute he saw that, the phantom pain— he forgave himself, forgave the war, forgave the whole system, forgave humanity. He just allowed himself to come to peace, and that he never had the phantom pain again. So that's the kind of work that I do. I do work with hardheads. I do work with people who say there's nothing to this, or prove it to me. That's usually the statement. Prove it to me. But then we do objective measuring. It's like, how many fights were you in with your wife? Oh, you're not fighting as much. How well do you sleep? Do you sleep for more hours than 2 hours at a time and wake up in a cold sweat? Are you no longer sweating? You know, are you eating well? Do you— how grounded do you feel? How are you maneuvering with your checkbook? You know, right? How are you— how do you feel in control of your finances? So we are measuring.
Yeah.
So they may say, ah, that was nothing, I feel better. You know, sometimes they would say things like, oh yeah, I feel a little more calmer. But we start to measure all this stuff, we're noticing there is a huge difference.
Wow, that's incredible work, Cheryl. So incredible. Oh my goodness. So you, you're, you're, um, an NLP practitioner as well, aren't you?
I have done, uh, NLP work, but I don't— I, I use a lot of different tools. I'm, you know, I've got— like I said, I, I started exploring after I broke my neck of like, what the heck? Yeah, yeah, it was a near-death experience, and I got real clear I'm not my physical body. And so So when I came back, there was this whole thing of like, how many healing modalities can I study? What kind of glean from each one of them? What works for me? Because there's different things for different folks. One of the things that I find with NLP is there's a lot of mental work, and sometimes you just need to get people out of their mind. Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah. And sometimes it works really great, you know, with some people that they like being like working from there because they really trust that. Um, but I, I have found that getting people in their body works better around emotional upsets, right?
God. So speaking of getting people into their body, I had one of my really, really close friends said, um, she goes, you know, I've been hearing everywhere about, you know, clearing out your chakras, you know, what's a chakra? And I, I kind of explained it to her, but I don't I don't know if I did it justice. So can you take us through, like, with people, like, what are your chakras? Where are they located? What is the work that you do with clearing those out?
Yeah, great. Thank you for asking that question. Yeah, chakras are one of my favorite pathways, though I don't always describe it to people because again they get all wigged out about, you're doing what? You know, I don't want people more weirded out about coming to see me, so I don't talk about it necessarily. But it is an ancient pathway Um, I'm a second-degree black belt in jiu-jitsu, so there is an ancient—
yeah, yeah.
So there— this is some of the Eastern understanding of how we are, as how we're designed as human beings. And in my using it as a pathway to get people more in their bodies and more having more abilities, I can pinpoint where people are having— what chakra people are having trouble in. And then I can go right there. So basically, the chakras run up the, up the spine. Our main basic 7 chakras run right up our spine. And then we have an 8th chakra above our head, which is all about life purpose. So if people are having trouble around their life purpose, we go to the 8th chakra. But again, it is, it's like acupuncture, and so on and so forth. They discovered, you know, first we poo-pooed there's nothing to acupuncture, there's nothing to meridian points. And now they're discovering, oh yeah, there is. There's a whole world of understanding about how we're designed through acupuncture points or acupressure points. It's a bit like back when they said there's nothing about germs. Remember, medicine was like, there's no such thing as germs. Yeah. And then eventually they started to develop an understanding. Oh, Just because we can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's the kind of same thing with the, with the chakra system, and it's been around for so long and has so much massive amount of results. So the first chakra is at the base of the spine. It's around our tailbone and our hips, and it's all about how secure we are. It's our foundation. If we're running a lot of fear, it's first chakra stuff. So if somebody comes in, they've got a lot of anxiety and they're trying to get up in their head, they're trying to get away from the first chakra, or they've, they've got tailbone problems, like that, you know, they've broken their tailbone, or they've got hip problems, immediately go to the first chakra, because it's about get people safe, you know, get people feeling safe, right? You don't want to do any work if you're not feeling safe. In fact, everything shows up as a threat. So, you know, you only have one, one mode when things aren't safe is everything's a threat. So we've got to get people down into their hips and grounded. So another way of grounding is not only roots out of the bottom of the feet, but roots out of your tailbone. You know, if you want to think of a taproot coming out of your tailbone. So that's another way that I work with people if they've got a lot of fear running, is get that tailbone. Because, you know, when we see a scared dog have the tails curled underneath, well, we've got a tail also, and when it's curled underneath, it creates a circle of fear. And so if our tailbone's all curled under, we're like, da, and we're not— we don't want to be grounded. We're like, get me out of here.
Yeah, yeah.
And so, and then you move up from there, and there's— that's the second chakra. And the second chakra is all about desire and passion and, and creativity and, uh, who are we and what were we up to. Oh no, are we gonna run out of time here? I wanna—
no, we're good, we're good, we're good.
I wanna be mindful of time. Okay, so the second chakra is all about, um, that passion for life, that desire, you know, our desires. And if people shut down their desires and they start to mainline their life and that, you know, nothing makes any sense and they don't care and they watch TV all the time, it's second chakra stuff. And second chakra in cultures tend to get shut down by guilt. So it's like if you've got desire and you lay a lot of energy against that desire, like you shouldn't have that desire, people do it by guilt. You know, churches for sure, religion does it for sure. But culture, a whole culture can, you know, have you be guilty because you desired something, you know. Okay, okay. Then we move to the third chakra, which is around the belly button. It is, um, basically our power center. And we have like 12 different ways— well, actually more than 12, but 12 main ways that we can use power. We can use it as a victim, you know, we pull everybody into, you know, because, oh, poor me, I've been victimized. Victimized, but it's power— is a power move. Or we can be the victimizer, it's a power move. Or we can blame, or, you know, there's a number— there's like 12 main ones that— or we can be an armchair critic where we criticize everything. We think we have power because we're, we're judging everything and, you know, we're the king or the queen in our own head, right? So, so if people are having trouble trouble getting in action about their desires, I'll go to the third chakra. Or if they're shotgunning their energy everywhere, they're distracted, or, you know, that's a lot in this culture, is people distract themselves. So how can we focus the energy around the third chakra? Okay. And one of the ways that people get shut down around actions they've taken is shame. Shame comes in when you've taken an action and, oh, you shouldn't have taken that action. Yeah, it's all around third chakra, you know. Okay, different than guilt. Guilt is second chakra, around your desires and pleasure and creativity. And, and, uh, third chakra is all around shame, you know, you shouldn't have done that. Then the fourth chakra is all about heart. It's, it's where our breasts are located. It's where we breathe in. It's connection. How connected do we feel, you know, to ourselves, to the universe, to peace? So if people are feeling lonely or disconnected, I'll go immediately to the fourth chakra. I do work on the fourth chakra. Also has to do with our shoulders, you know, and our, our, our back, you know. Do we curl forward? And again, screen time really causes more and more people curling forward. I'm right. I'm happy, happy the schools are going to be opening up because kids need to open up their back. Then we move into the communication channels, which is in the throat area, which is the fifth chakra.
Okay.
But it's not only what we speak, but the two ear— the Eustachian tubes connect into it too. So it's how we hear, what we listen to, or listen for. We have— we construct our whole universe by what do we listen for. We're always listening for being, uh, the brunt of somebody's joke, we'll find ourselves always in that situation.
Oh, that's good.
Yeah, it's, it's good and it's good and— yeah, yeah. But if we start to notice, what do we listen for? Why do we listen for being put down? Do we listen for that we're great? Do we listen for, uh, the world is a friendly place? Or do we listen for, uh, you know, we have to protect ourselves? So listen, what we listen for really creates creates a lot of our universe. We're clear about what we see a lot of times is how it creates our universe, but we're not as clear as what we're listening for also creates our universe. And then we move into the sixth chakra, which is all about internal sight as well as external sight. So we have this gland in the center of our head— I might be getting too much into this, but it's called the pineal gland, and it has eye tissue. It's made of, of the tissue that is our two external eyes. It's the third eye. So it's our intuition. It's what we, we see, sense, and feel. It's also what we create visualizing before it happens. Like, I want a house, or I— or it could be simple as I want to have, um, oatmeal for breakfast. Yeah, you know, we visualize ourselves going down to the kitchen or going into the kitchen and creating oatmeal for ourselves. And, and then we see it with our— to externalize, and we create that world. We're, we're pretty skilled at simple things like, you know, I need to go to the bathroom, okay, see myself going there, or I'm gonna go eat, or I'm gonna get my car, or I'm gonna go, you know, we see it in simple terms. We don't always see it in bigger terms, like I'm going to create the perfect house for myself or the perfect job, or— and they've done a lot of work. If you look at, um, The Secret and a lot of the other videos that have come out, they're doing more and more work and training people to use their third eye, this, the sixth chakra, to visualize what they want to create in life. And then the seventh chakra is our connection to our life purpose. Our eighth chakra, which is above our head, and this third eye area, it is the area that we're either open— like when little babies come, it's a soft patch Yeah, yeah, it gets hard as we get older and so we get more and more disconnected from our higher self. So, so part of this is to, uh, not physically soften this place, but to know that energy can travel between the two. And, uh, what I like, really like to do is hook people up so the energy from their, from their 8th chakra, their life purpose, their mission comes flowing through them. So people are so clear that even if they're brushing their teeth, they're doing their mission.
Yeah.
It's not separate. It's not separate. Yeah, it's, it's all—
Yeah. I'm so intrigued by this. I'm so intrigued. I am. My goodness. I wish we had another full hour.
So they certainly could if you wanted to.
I know. Yeah, well, we're gonna have to come back and do like part 2 of this. And So I know that you're offering my listeners a free discovery session, you know, chakra clearing. Yes, I 100% am going to take you up on it because I want to learn more about it. I want you to clear out my chakras.
I've never had that done. I love it.
And so how can people connect with you and how can they get the free discovery session?
Yeah, so how they can do that is they can, uh, send me an email. Real simple. Send me an email, say, hey, I'm interested in a free, you know, chakra clearing. Or just say, hey, I heard your— I heard you. I'm really curious about chakra clearing and what it could provide for me. So how they do that is they spell Cheryl, C-H-E-R-Y-L, at blossomingwisdom.com. So they could just send me an email, uh, Cheryl at blossomingwisdom.com, saying, uh, I would love a chakra clearing and give me their contact information. Yeah, yeah, you know, I'll send them my calendar and they can put themselves in and we're off to the races. And it's about, uh, 50 minutes, 60 minutes, you know. Uh, you want to have enough time because if I find that somebody has a lot of gunk in a particular chakra, like, you know, they're, you know, they're really super protected around their communication channel you know, because they couldn't communicate as a kid or whatever, and there's just a lot of stuff about, uh, how do I get the words out? Then I, I want to be able to give people, uh, space. So, got it.
Yeah, yeah, perfect, perfect. So Cheryl, thank you so much. I've learned a ton on this call. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, your knowledge with us. And, you know, you have dropped such amazing tools that anybody can use in, in any moment. I love it. So thank you so much for being on the podcast today.
