Travia Steward argues that lasting change comes from shifting your identity, not just changing your actions. She uses keto diets and promotions as examples of how people fail when they focus only on behavior instead of who they believe they are.

My peeps, what do you think? Is changing your behavior and your actions the absolute best way to get something? You see, if you think that, I understand exactly why you think that, because there's so much noise out there to eat less, you know, work out more, you know, do more, get to work on time, get to work early, you know, yada yada yada. So if you've been someone who's been focused on just changing your actions to get something you don't currently have, This is why that doesn't work. Number 1, the results are temporary. Number 2, we burn ourselves out by doing more. And number 3, the most important thing is we haven't changed the core of what really needs to be changed for lasting success. And I'm also guilty of that, you know, changing, doing more, all the things. And you see, this doesn't work because in order to change something, we actually have to go to the identity level. And I believe, and I'm hanging my shingle on, the fastest, most effective way to change something and to get something you don't have is to shift your identity. How many of you have gone on a keto diet and the second you got off of that diet, you know, a few weeks later, the weight came back? How many of you have, have wanted a promotion at work and you focus on doing more at work, you know, taking on more projects, getting the work earlier, staying later. How many of you have tried to fix a relationship by just changing how you talk and how you relate to your partner? If you've seen the show Inventing Anna that's on Netflix, this is a true example of someone wanting something and shifting their identity in order to get it. Now, I'm not saying that what she did was right because she did some unscrupulous shit, right? But it's in the effort, it's in her strategy, and it's in her tactics that she wanted something and she shifted her identity to become the person her goals required. So if anything that I've said so far on this video resonates with you and you would like some help because you've been spinning your wheels, doing more, getting to work earlier, staying later, all the things, and you haven't seen the change and success you want, Shoot me a DM right now. I would love to show you how you can implement this in your life right now. DM me and let's have a conversation.
