Travia Steward explains how high achievers waste their peak cognitive hours on family and routine tasks, leaving them feeling perpetually behind. A client's mornings disappear into kids, a partner, and household chores before her best work hours even start. The patterns are invisible from inside your own life.

Most high achievers that I work with, they're not behind because they're lazy. They're behind because their best hours of the day when they do their best work is already spoken for before the day even starts. So on a coaching call, I asked a client what part of the day does she think she is at her best when she does her best work? And her answer was in the morning. But when we actually looked at her schedule in her actual mornings and all the things that she was doing during her day, The answer was right there in plain sight. She was getting up early. The first hour was going to everyone else. It was helping out with getting her, the kids to school. It was helping out with preparing lunches. It was helping out with getting her spouse's lunch, getting, you know, trying to be a good partner and a good team player for her family. All of that's well and good because by the time she sat down to do her actual work, the work that mattered so that her day would run smoother when she was the sharpest of the whole day, that time was already gone. So by the time she sat down, she's like, you know, I, I'm no longer at a 9 or a 10, and I don't feel as crystal clear as I did 2 hours ago. We talked about how she was feeling like she just was always behind, like she couldn't get ahead, just was always trying to play catch-up because her best hours of the day were already gone before she even started. And you know what? She couldn't see it at first because she was inside of the situation. She was inside of the jar and couldn't read the label from the outside. You see, that's the thing about patterns that run in your life, because from the outside to someone else, someone else like who has a trained eye, those patterns are obvious. But from the inside, like if you're in the, in the bottle, in the label, they're invisible because we can't see our own patterns. So if you're someone who keeps showing up fully for everyone else and not getting your most important work done, it's probably a time problem. It's probably a pattern that you haven't been able to see yet. And if you're someone who feels like you're doing everything right, there is a pattern that's underneath it, and that is the work I do with my clients.
