Full Lace Locs with No Edges, No Glue and No Pain!

LaToya Kelly shows how to install a full-lace wig over sisterlocks without glue, caps, or edge damage. She uses baby-hair cream to blend the lace with skin, minimal braiding, and a blow dryer. The method works best for people with thin edges or larger foreheads who want to switch styles often.

Hey everyone, it's your girl TT Does It All, and I'm creating this video because I have been talking about my Coils2Go collection of wigs for a while now, but now I'm finally getting around to shooting a video with me putting them over my sisterlocks. So I have multiple options here, I just really don't know which one I kind of wanted to go with, um, But I really want to get funky and put on like some color, but, um, I have Sisterlocks under my hair, so I'm nervous about a flat braid pattern with me having these underneath because I don't know how flat I can get these, um, without like product, and I really don't want to put any product on here. So I'm gonna go with her. She is available to purchase on my website. And the link is definitely in the description. I want you to know that I am at home, I'm not in my salon. I just had surgery on my hand, um, finally recovering. But I have literally 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 items with me to work with. So I have my wig, not included in that 5, and then I have a blow dryer, which I will also put the link to. It was very cheap on Amazon, nice little come up. Um, I have my carbon comb, which is the rat tail, which is my favorite comb ever. And then, um, so that's 1, 2, then 3. I have these because I'm not in my shop. I think I took my tiny scissors back to the shop. And if you all are familiar with my videos, I like to use my tiny ones to get like really close up to that lace and get really in there. But I ain't got it. So the last two things I have with me is my baby hair cream, and I have this because I just introduced the tones of the baby hair cream. So I kind of want to show you how to use it. So nude is the lightest color, and I'm going to show you how close it is to the transparent color so you could see like the difference in the nude versus the transparent. Okay, the reason why I really, really, really liked— while I'm doing my hair— the reason why I really liked, um, oh, that felt good. The reason why I really wanted to, um, start my Coils2Go collection was because I used to wear braids. Um, I got a couple braids in my head. I used to wear braids when I was like in middle school, high school, college. I got more into like individuals, um, kinky twists and micro braids and stuff like that. But now I have my sisterlocks because I love them and I hate doing my hair. If you don't know, I am a hairstylist. I am from Kansas City, Missouri, live in St. Louis, Missouri, and I do hair. So I have this section, and as you see, this happened from braids. This happened— I've had it since I can't remember. Um, it was from braids. I used to wear my hair in those hairstyles with the braids coming from here, like my wigs are, except, um, yeah, I was pulling my hair out and it never grew back. So this side you see was stronger, and I also sleep on my right side too. So the tension from the braids along with me sleeping on them just left me here. So I don't wear braids coming that way anymore, and I just don't like really heavy braids on my hair. Um, so I thought that this was a good way to get the look that we want when we don't have the full edges we want for the styles, or maybe our edges are too fragile or thin or whatever. So I cannot wait to put this bad boy on for you. So while I am braiding my hair back, I will show you like a little clip of my, um, promotional like video I posted for these wigs. Um, they each come with my label inside the wig, and, um, some come with a band, some do not. You can send me a message on my website and asked me to include it, um, to put one in. Um, I do not recommend these wigs for people with, um, small, small foreheads, because if you all have ever tried to wear a full lace wig before, um, they're in a standard size, they come about 22.5 inches, um, as a circumference. So usually that kind of comes to here. It starts getting wider when you start getting to those smaller foreheads. So if you have a smaller forehead, it just won't fit over your entire head. Um, so I think that these wigs are really, really, really beneficial for people who, um, who have a big forehead, who are looking for those braided styles but don't have the edges for them, um, too thin, or even for people who change up their hairstyles a lot, I would definitely recommend this style for you too. Um, I probably should have done this video live because y'all would definitely be, I'm sure, talking back and forth with me while I do this. Oh my God, there is still paint in my hair. Okay, um, yeah, moved and have been doing a lot of construction, um, so yeah, I have paint in my hair from it. So I am braiding my hair just straight back, as you see. I'm not parting or perfecting anything. It's literally going to be underneath the wig, so you won't see it. Um, let's see here. I am not going to use a cap or anything underneath my wig. If you want to, like, if I was to have this wig professionally installed and I was going to— going to be wearing it like for a week or 2 weeks or whatever and getting it touched up and all that stuff, I would definitely put like a stocking cap underneath it and do like the ball cap method. Especially if you have like the other styled Coils2Go wigs I have, um, I would probably recommend wearing that. I cannot believe I got paint in my hair, y'all. But, um, yeah. I'm over it already. This is why my hair is always all over my head, because I'm tired. So I am not going to use adhesive on this wig. I am going to use my baby hair cream, and I'm doing that because of my edges. I just don't want any extra added tension on it. Um, I know how to put my wigs back on, so it's not necessarily necessary for me to have it bonded down. If something does lift, I know how to put it back down. Um, so it's not important for me to have it bonded down. It's not important for me to have the bald cap method. I pretty much know how to make it look like it's coming out my scalp without all of that stuff. I'm gonna try my best to put this in like two braids. Because I'm lazy and I hate it. My arms are tired already and I have definitely been working. So, okay, so, uh, let's see, with these, um, baby hair creams, I, um, okay, so I don't know if y'all know, but if If you're new to wigs, you don't. A lot of people put makeup on their lace to blend it with their skin, while others put lace tint spray. Sometimes they dip it in fabric dye. Like, there's like a million and one ways that people make lace to blend with their color. Um, what I am bringing with my new little invention is my baby hair cream in different tones. So you don't have to use that makeup on your lace unless you have like all throughout showing or something like that. But where it's coming to melting it in with your forehead, blending that in, that's what the baby hair cream does. So I'm gonna make this one braid. And I actually feel like I could fit one of those flat braided wigs on, but maybe I'll just put it on for kicks, like just put it on my head so you can visibly see it on my head and then, um, take it off and put the locks on. Okay, now that that's braided, where did I put my ponytail holder? Okay, okay, hang time a little bit. You see, you see? Okay, I've had my sister locks in since February, so I will probably— well, I'm not probably— I have a video to upload for y'all, so I got it, I got you. Okay, let me put this on just to throw it on my head, check it out. Okay. Okay, so I could actually make this work. I really could.
I know.
I would want to use the bald cap method with that because it's so blind and I don't want my dark showing underneath. Let's look at this one. This must be that wig Shamora Moore had on, huh? Bro, you joking? I love this one. This one would be like an everyday for me because I don't like doing my hair. Yes, and I can make my baby hairs however I want them. All right, so now I'm gonna go with this baby. So first I'm gonna cut off some lace. So let me tell y'all where these scissors came from while I'm cutting. So since I had surgery on this hand and I'm right-handed, I needed, um, a pair of scissors since I could not sit my butt down. I needed a pair of scissors that I could— what is— where is Okay, I needed a pair of scissors that I could use, um, while I was doing my little whatever I wanted to do because I can't sit my butt down. So these work with my left hand or my right hand, which I needed because technically I could not use— well, ain't no technique Technically, I legitimately could not even cut with a pair of scissors with my right hand right after I had the surgery, but that's going to take forever, so I'm switching back. Okay, so that's the back. Now I am not cutting off my baby hairs. I'm going to use them. Okay, so I am cutting right, right before you get to those baby hairs. I'm gonna cut all the way there. And I'm actually leaving a little extra lace because you never know how this fits your head. So if you are doing this on self, you definitely want to leave a little extra lace just in case your hairline isn't the same as how standard full lace wig hairlines come. Okay, done. All right, so there are combs in here, so if you have, um, do not have Sisterlocks, you could definitely use the combs. There's also adjustable straps in it, so if you wanted to use that, you can as well.. But for me, I'm just going to lay this bad boy on with my baby hair cream. You can do it multiple ways. Um, you can, um, just kind of like— let's just say you don't like the uniform baby hair. You can just kind of cut them to the length you desire, and then you can use baby hair cream in inside of it, tie it down, let it dry 110%, even if you have to like get under a dryer and sit there for 15 minutes. Fully let it dry, take it off, and your stuff's not gonna budge. Like, my baby hair cream dries hard, so it doesn't look hard, but it dries hard. I don't even have a clip here, okay? That's how much hair stuff I don't have. At home anymore. Okay, so let's take this side first. If you are not me, you would— and I can just do it for y'all, how about I do that? Take your baby hair cream, and remember, I'm using nude, not transparent. I could use transparent on my real hair to smooth it back if I wanted to. How about let me show y'all that the way you get this out is with warm water. So I'm going to start with this side, and as you see, I have not tinted the lace. I haven't done anything, and this is a transparent lace. You can tweeze or whatever you like. I am just going to— I don't even know what I'm about to do. You want there to be more hair than— too much hair on the hairline than too little, because I don't want you all like, she didn't leave enough hair on her edge, on the edges for me to do my look. So, you know, some people like it thick, some people like it really thin. Um, it's all a personal preference, so you could do whatever you like. I'm just slapping baby hair cream.
All on here, okay?
And you can also cut this off if you don't want to use it. You do not have to use the baby hairs, okay? You can just be like, listen, new ma'am, and chop them all off and just have it installed that way. It is a personal preference, boo-boo. I'm just laying what's on here just in case you're like, girl, I don't know how to do none of that, I don't have no stylist, I do this on my own. Is this possible? Yes, ma'am. And for me, like, to be honest, I like the little not so uniform baby hairs. Um, I like it to just be kind of I woke up like this-ish, so I'm just gonna play around with it. And I can even make these parts like— you see how this lace right here is melting in my skin? All right, just to let you all know, I'm doing fast forwarding with really not a lot of commentary and stuff because I don't want to do a lot of editing to this video because I am a realist. I want you to see what it really looks like. I want you to see that I didn't switch products or switch what I was using, or, uh, there's no gimmicks. So I am really like— I like to go straight to the point, no clickbait. It is what it is, baby, and it's flawless. Combing some back into it, and that is good for me. Y'all still following along? Okay. All right, I like that it's not uniform, it's just like there. And you know what, I'm gonna take it a step further and go a little bit darker. And actually, I need to cut some of this off, don't I? Doing a little bit more defined over here. Sometimes I have to look at my baby hairs from a distance to see if that's really what I want, cuz it may look good real close up, but then when you get like arms width, you like, that ain't really what I I wanted to do. I think you could tell I started feeling myself after I saw that baby hair. Don't judge me, y'all, cuz I was like, she ready. Perfect, perfect for me, perfect for me, that's perfect for me. Okay. Y'all know I could live without this one. I don't know, I just don't like it. I'm so like— which I think I probably should move this. I'm gonna move it just because I know there are some of y'all out there that are probably like, no, I like it. But then there's probably some of y'all out there that are like, move it. So this right here is for y'all, those who say I like it, okay? And in 5 seconds, it's gonna be for those to be like, move it, okay? So I put a little bit more baby hair cream on it, and I actually feel like this darker color is me. Ah, yes! I'm just putting the— yeah, y'all, apparently I'm not nude.
Okay, okay, so let's loosen this piece up.
What do I want to do? Give me my middle part back.
YouTube, y'all can come on. Y'all going to your daddy's? Get on off of forehead now. Okay, so I'm going put a lot of this back up in here. See how I just slid that back up in there?
See how I just slid that back?
And I'll just slide some of this back cuz we don't want that much out. And then what I'mma do Here we go.
We can't do that. Because that's too—
but I do like this side, so maybe I should have a little piece that's up and over. We don't want it to look so— hmm, maybe I should just have a little bit over there. Maybe that's what this hair is telling me, like, no girl, leave just a couple of them, just not that big. That's better. That is better for me. That I can do. Okay.
I'm sorry, y'all, I just can't do all them extra like thick baby hairs. This looks perfect, and to me it looks really natural. Okay, so this I like. So you all, I did this demonstration really quick for you in the middle of my crazy day because I want you all to see that this is attainable. Um, you don't have to worry about damaging your hair. You don't have to sit for hours anymore for this look. You good to go. You see how quick I just did it? So I'm gonna take some pictures for y'all and y'all let me know what y'all think, okay? You see the back, it is full lace. So if you chose to, um, do something where you had half of it up, half of it down, you can do that. But yes, it is not glued on. As you see, it's on there, okay? It ain't going nowhere. And all I used was my baby hair cream, and y'all watched me do it, so you can't say I'm lying. I'm lying, I'm flying. No. Okay, so let me take some bomb selfies so I can post this video for y'all, and y'all let me know what y'all think. Make sure you thumbs up this video if you like this look, okay? Because this look is yours. Basically, just go on the website, click shop, coils to go, you see it, it's yours. And I have 3 of these available. You can text me personally if you want me to clean this one and give you this one because it's already cut, the lace is cut. So if you need something like that, I will give you this one because I got sisterlocks and I'm not gonna be wearing braided wigs. Um, plus I can get another one. So, um, I can clean this for you because obviously I'm only having it on for some minutes. But, uh, my baby hair cream is set and not going anywhere, honey. But let me take some pictures and I will definitely see y'all in the next video. Thanks for watching. Drop a heart in the comments if you watch this video all the way to the end. I appreciate you all. Let me know what video you you would like to see in the future, maybe another wig you want to see me install. And I will see you on the next video.
