LaToya Kelly explains the minimum hair length for K-tip extensions: 4 inches to start, 6 inches if you want to wear high ponytails. Shorter hair in back limits your styling options, but you can still get them installed.

One of the most asked questions I get is, how long does your hair need to be for K-tips? And I pulled out my tape measure to show you. You need to easily have at the minimum 4 inches of hair, but if you want to be able to wear high ponytails, you really want to have 6 inches. But as you see, her hair was a little under 6 inches, and this is her flawless outcome. So drop a comment if you have at least 4 inches and you are ready for your K-tip install, because you can have K-tips if you have at least 4 inches. If your hair is shorter in the back but longer in the front and in the top, that is perfect for K-tips. You just won't be able to wear your hair up in high ponytails. You won't be able to pull your hair up. You'll be able to wear lower ponytails, so you can still get K-tips. You just won't be able to take advantage of certain styles. So yes, you have seen my previous videos, people with shorter hair have gotten K-tips and can get K-tips, but you just won't be as flexible with your styles.
