This is a K-tip install almost 3 months later, and she came back to me for a wash and straighten. I recommend my clients always come back for their maintenance service, which is a shampoo, and I go through all the K-tips one by one and I straighten them. I make sure everything looks great. Now, this is an example of what K-tips looks like when you try to do your own straightening at home and you put heat on that K-tip and they come out. As you can see on the top of those Q-tips, there's no hair attached. Now you see a little product in there from her shampooing at home, but there is no hair of the client's attached to these. So this shows me that she has done her own maintenance at home. She's tried to straighten them and her hair has remained intact, but the Q-tip has been melted off. This is what you want to avoid by booking your service with your provider for a shampoo and straighten at home. If you're not able to come back for that service, ask your stylist for customized recommendations for you to do at home. I always provide my clients with the tools that they need to do this at home, and if you're not able to come in, you can still maintain them with proper care. I can get roots straight, but I don't recommend you try it.
