LaToya Kelly installs a middle-part silk closure sew-in, braiding anchor sections and sewing with dark brown thread. She walks through product choices like KeraCare glossifier and Wild Growth oil, and critiques the closure's thickness and difficulty to lay flat, working through the two-hour process to achieve a natural result.

Hey, it's your girl TT back with another video, and this one's going to be a middle part lace closure sew-in. And, um, this one's gonna have a little bit of funny parts in it because I just got to be real with y'all and my clients, okay? Like, I love y'all, but Sometimes stylists ain't always happy with the stuff we get. This is the beginning, and this is what we are going to do, the look we're going to achieve. And my client did bring her own hair, so I am just going to work my magic. So I start with the middle part. I go behind her head, have her tilt her head backwards, and then I look at her nose, and I just kind of guide my part based off of that. And then I start with the right braid, which is my anchor braid, and my left braid, which is another anchor braid. And I do use braiding hair in those two braids only for the closure sew-ins, just because you don't want the closure sewn back on a lot of, a lot of tension to her head. So adding that braiding hair just makes that braid thicker, makes her hair less fragile, and it just has always worked for me and my customers. I do have videos on everything in this video. So I have a braid pattern video for lace closure sew-ins. I have how to sew on the net and the sew-in part. So if you all want those videos, the links are in the description. And there's the 3 of those. Alrighty, so I, um, use KeraCare grease. It's called a glossifier. Um, it feels really good. It has that like minty feel on your scalp. So I really, really like that. And also, when I finish braiding, I do use, um, my Wild Growth hair oil. And I'll put the links to all of that in the description, so don't be like, what is it, where is it? I will definitely put that in there for you. All right, so I'm going to finish the back of the braids in like a little sunburst pattern making sure in the front that I do have that middle part, because with lace closures, I do let the part in her head show through. It makes it look more natural to me. Alrighty, so I am going to sew on the net after this, and when I am sewing in the hair and the net, I use brown thread. It is dark brown thread, so So it's dark enough to where you won't see it through the sew-in at all, but it's light enough so that when I'm sewing, I can see my thread, and when they're taking their hair out, they can see the thread, which is so helpful. Oh my God, I know from experience. This stupid closure. It's not stupid. It's just the worst. I am so serious explaining why I don't like this closure, so just listen up. This closure is so dumb. Let me make sure they see it. See how stupid this closure is? It's just so stupid. Just stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. Okay, it's just stupid. I hope they get how stupid it is. Oh my goodness, wait, why? What do you don't like about it? The silk part. It just makes it so difficult. It's difficult to put on your head, it's difficult to sew through. Suck it up. I just got to talk crazy through it. No. I may talk crazy, but I'mma put it in. Not only am I going to put it in, but I'm going to make it look good. So I can talk a little crazy, but honestly, the way this closure is made, it's just really hard to lay it flat, and it is so difficult to sew into. And I use really sharp needles, so if it's still hard, it's just so thick. Like, the base of it is so thick, it's just— and then it's just the part, like the sides of it have tracks, and then only the middle is a part, like silk or something. So the sides, like where I'm sewing down now, there's like rows of tracks in this closure. It is just so— it's just different. It's not stupid, it's not dumb, I know. It's just different than the traditional closure that we're all used to seeing and using. All right, so now I am going to sew in her hair Sorry, I don't have the link to her hair in the description, but I do have Brazilian curly hair that looks exactly like it, which is available on my website, TTdoesitall.com. And I have kinky curly hair. So this length, I would say, is probably about a 24-26 inch. It looks like, um, I never really get into the semantics of my customer's hair. I sew in whatever they bring me, and I do not discriminate unless they ask me to flat iron it and I go to put my heat on it and it don't move, that's when I'm gonna give you a piece of my mind about this hair, okay? But I really don't— I don't get into the tit-for-tat hair companies and stuff like that. They bring it, I sew it, and the only time I have a problem is if it does not cooperate with what I'm trying to do to it. So for instance, clients will come and like, let's just say she came with this hair and it's like, hey, What do I do to maintain this hair? I'm like, girl, you're gonna have to ask the company because I can't tell you that this mousse will work for it when maybe this mousse won't work for it. I don't know, like, I work with so many different hair types, so I can put something on it that I think will look pretty, but I don't know how it's going to hold up tomorrow or a week from now or when water hits it or when you put something else on it. So it's really difficult to to, um, help my clients maintain hair extensions that aren't mine. But I do not discriminate. I will install anything. Okay, okay. All right, so you see I didn't sew in these 3 bundles within the quickness. It takes me— it probably took me 2 hours, if not less, total to do this sew-in. And then I am going to make her closure look like her hair because, um, Yeah, that again, that closure, I'm not even gonna go into it again. But you see how the part looks? There is no part. So I am going to make it look natural with my makeup that matches her complexion. And then I'm going to make sure it's parted right, make sure it's flat, and then wet it on up. And this is just water in my spray bottle. And I'm using some mousse, and it's actually setting lotion. And I use that CuraCare wax stick on the top just to make sure that, um, the flyaways lay down. And I'm just kind of trimming her ends for her because she did add that to her service. First of all, don't judge my hair, okay? Shoot, it's hot as I don't know what. The humidity's crazy. The mosquitoes is biting me up. I'm always outside. Oh my God, listen, y'all, I'm just But let me know what y'all think about this hair. It's a wrap, she's done. Drop a comment. I'll see you on the next video.
