LaToya Kelly shows a hybrid K-tips installation that uses invisible extensions at the hairline and traditional K-tips inside. Traditional K-tips reduce shrinkage in tightly coiled hair but cost more and take longer. Invisible K-tips give you more styling flexibility and parting options.

I think a lot of people are afraid to get traditional K-tips because they think they're going to be visible, but this is a hybrid install. She has invisible and traditional. Invisible is done along the back of her hairline and along the top for coverage purposes, but the inside is completely traditional and you cannot tell from the outside. Traditional is really good for people who have tight, coily hair that the shrinkage is real, and between installs they don't want to have to worry about their hair shrinking up between the K-tips and having to maintain those. So traditional is a lot more time-consuming for the installer to do, but it is a lot easier when it comes to maintenance for you as well as the stylist. So if you want traditional, I in particular charge more for them. Some do not., but they are definitely worth it, and you cannot see them from the outside looking in. I hope that helps anybody thinking about traditional versus invisible. Invisible is really made for those who want a lot of flexibility with their hair, parting it multiple ways, not just in the middle, because as you see here, she can part her hair through the middle of her head and they're still traditional. So talk to your stylist, make sure you ask important questions during consultations, and you know what you're looking for. Do your research beforehand, and you won't have any problems. Okay.
