THIN 4C Hair gets K Tip Makeover (Lace Closure Method)

In this YouTube video LaToya Kelly demonstrates a hybrid lace‑closure and K‑tip installation on a client with thin 4C hair and alopecia. She explains why she chose a closure‑first approach, how she placed traditional (non‑invisible) K‑tips around the perimeter to eliminate tension and provide full coverage, and how the technique differs from her previous invisible method. LaToya discusses the texture she uses (kinky‑straight), the expected lifespan of K‑tips (3‑6 months, adjusted for fine hair), and the styling options (full up‑do or down). She notes that this is not a tutorial but a recorded case study for her paid K‑tip training program ($197/month) and shares the service pricing ($1,999 special, $3,000 full). The video also promotes her secondary channel on artificial intelligence, encouraging Black youth to explore AI. She invites viewer comments on the result, potential use for alopecia, and future content ideas.

Hey, yes, it's been a minute. Check out this before and check out that after. Okay, we're gonna do even more to that after, but welcome back to the channel. It has been a while, I feel like, since I made a long video, but this client right here is having me do a lace closure slash K-tip install, and this is a hybrid install. I told her no, I would never do something like this, so for the fact that I'm doing it today Y'all know she didn't touch my heart, which ain't hard to do. But so I decided— she had K-tips before, we did the invisible method, which is where you leave hair out in between. But this time we were like, you know what, her hair is so fine at the top, she does have alopecia, so we want to make it so that she does not have any tension on the top of her head and she is able to have fullness at the top of her head. Um, so this is what she wanted to do. Now she also talked about a frontal, but a frontal I will not do, okay? Not I will not do it, but I'm gonna do it later, but I really will not do it. What y'all think about that song? Okay, we're gonna get back to that, but this is not a tutorial, okay? This is a start to finish. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I have never seen anyone put a closure with K-tips before, so of course there was no blueprint. I was like, what the heck am I gonna do? This video will be going up in my K-Tip training, which is I think $197 a month in US dollars. So this actually I recorded for my training, in which I will put it up in there and show exactly how I did it, because listen, it was a task. It wasn't really that hard. I mean, I do sew-ins all the time, so to sew in just the closure was different and it was unique, but it wasn't really hard. Um, but there are a few techniques to it that need to be noted. And then I'm— I mean, look at that closure, right? Right. Okay, but I am not foolproof, okay? Like, I make mistakes just like everybody else. And this has not been tested. She's the first person I've done this on, so I don't know how it's going to hold up. Q-tips can last 3 to 6 months. For her hair, since it was finer, I give her 3 months. But with a closure, does that change that? Like, will she still be able to keep this closure in 3 months? I don't know. We're gonna see, and we're gonna see how it goes, and I'll keep y'all updated on how it goes too. But, um, I laid the closure first because you have to know how much of a measurement you need for that closure. So I'm just kind of showing you all how that closure looks, and then I'll actually put those K-tips underneath it. So it really doesn't matter what like the back of the closure look like underneath the closure because the K-tips will always cover it. Even when she wears her hair in a high ponytail, which she will be able to do, the K-tips will be covering the outer perimeter of that closure. So all that back here will be covered by K-tips when she wears her hair up. So I am not going to do the invisible method, which means I'm leaving hair out in between That's the invisible method. I'm not going to do that. I want her to have as low maintenance back here as possible. So that means that I'm going to K-tip all of her hair inside, um, the perimeter. Um, so only the outer sections of her hair will be left out, kind of like a sew-in. And then the inside will also— will all be K-tips. So, um, I started doing K-tips maybe a year ago, a little over a year ago, and then I had my baby, and then I came back to doing them. And when I say I took like 2 different trainings, I paid a whole lot of money. And then, um, yeah, I'm obsessed with them. I love doing them. If y'all remember back in the day, I used to do micro braids. If you scroll back to my first uploaded YouTube video in '06, OG, I was doing micro braids, and this kind of reminds me of it because they're really, really small. They're really like— I love how like the grid, I like— I love it. So, um, yeah, this is all the K-tips in the back. This is my kinky straight texture, which you'll see me straighten it out. It can get bone straight. It does not get any curlier or tighter than this. This is the natural state of it. So even when you wash your hair and blow dry it, this is really what it's intended to blend with. It will make your natural hair just blend right with it without being straightened. So that's really why I love this texture, and I will say like 90% of my clients get this texture. Um, so yeah, I feel like I've done a whole lot of talking, and, um, where are we? We got a few minutes to go, so Um, again, there is no hair left out around these K-tips, which is why it's called traditional and not invisible. Um, they're super small still, but the invisible would have hair out left around them— would have hair left out around them to kind of mask you seeing each K-tip. Uh, but this is, um, an expensive style. My special at this present date of uploading it is $1,999. Yes, that's $1,999. My full price is $3,000, and that is because this is extremely time-consuming. This is extremely tedious. When people even train for this for the first time, they're like, oh heck no, I can't do this. But once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. It lasts a long time. Like, I literally have a takedown I'm about to post where I did her hair in January, and here it is the end of June, and she's just taking it down. So this is the end result right here. This is all lace. This is all lace that I'm parting through, and then that's lace. And then you'll see right here where you can see the actual K-tips. And the K-tips, once she wants to wear her hair all the way up, you see those K-tips? Don't— you don't see the line of the closures. You'll never see the line. She'll never just wear the top piece up. This is not intended for her to do half up, half down. She wants to either wear her hair all the way up or all the way down. So, um, here I am going to straighten it and then we'll be good to go. I, I feel like I didn't even have time to say what's up to y'all. Like, it's been so long. Like, I'm still doing hair. I'm really into artificial intelligence. I even have my TT Does It All channel where I teach artificial intelligence. And I really want us young Black women and men to understand that our dreams are attainable through AI. Like, anything you thought, like, I want to do this or I'm passionate about this and you thought you couldn't do it, AI now makes it possible, and I'm teaching that on my other channel. So I hope you guys join me over there because I absolutely love it. But what do you guys think about her end result? After this, I did go ahead and put some concealer on her part to make it look a little bit more natural, but this is her end result, her lace closure K-tip hybrid install, and She loved it. So drop a comment, let me know if you guys have ever heard of this before. If you have not heard of this before, if you would try it, if you have alopecia or you know someone else with alopecia, go ahead and drop a comment. Let's get the discussion started, and I'll see y'all in the next video. I miss y'all. Y'all drop a comment, tell me what y'all want to see next.
