Using a Flat Iron Brush on Natural Hair: My Experience!

TT tests a flat iron brush on natural hair while prepping extensions. The brush heats to 450°F and smooths coarse curls well, but can't straighten tight roots, so a hot comb handles those. It works great on K-tip extensions and is beginner-friendly, though rarely discussed in natural hair spaces.

Hey y'all, it's your girl TT, and we are back with another video of me sharing my honest experience using this flat iron brush, and I'm using it on natural hair. First of all, look at this. I love the fact that I can touch it on my hand and it will not burn me whether I touch it on the back or the front. Winning! Okay, but seriously, I'm working on my best friend who is prepping for a K-tip install, and we're going to be using my kinky straight extensions, but I just wanted to test the brush out on her real texture and see how well it smooths her hair out for her install. So it did not get those roots, so I'm going in with my hot comb.
But this flat iron brush heats all the way up to 450°, which is perfect for really coarse textures.
I really love that you can touch it while it's on and it will not burn your hand like a regular flat iron.
So that makes it beginner-friendly. That way it's easy to handle if you're doing your own hair or you're working really close to the scalp. But let's keep it real, while it definitely gets the hair smooth, it does not get the roots bone straight, especially on really tight textures. And that's just because of the shape and size. It's a little too bulky to get right up in there. So for the roots, I did, like I said, go in with a traditional hot comb to finish it off. But the combo worked really well together. It smoothed the, um, length out with the brush and then the hot comb to detail the roots. So once the hair was fully straightened, I did a light trim and cleaned up the ends. And then, um, it's really important to do that before K-tip extensions.
And then I did the K-tip extensions So again, I'm just gonna chat with y'all, um, because it's been a while. But yes, I use this brush on like my, um, Cambodian curly hair textures when I'm installing K-tips. I have a lot of K-tips that I'm putting in and they come curly, so I'll just get them installed and I'll do a slight brush with the, with the Taimou— I'm gonna call it Taimou— Taimou brush.
Um, and then can y'all somebody put the, the real enunciation in the comments for me? Tell me how to say this.
But anyway, I put, um, this brush to the test several times, but I realized this is a brush that is not highly talked about on natural hair textures on YouTube, so I wanted to create a quick video for you guys and just show you what it can do. And this is it.
Honestly, it gets really, really, really straight. Like, I used it on my, um, K-tips. Let me know in the comments if y'all want me to upload that video, but I did do it on my K-tips that I had curly K-tips and natural curly hair. And I used it and I was like, what the— like, I never would have got my entire head of K-tips straight if it were not for this brush. And on my own? No, ma'am. So yeah, this thing was really winning. Um, this is my best friend Laura.
Laura has been wearing wigs.
Um, so I'm prepping her hair actually for a K-tip course that I'm putting online, and, um, link in the description. But, um, she had a procedure done. She has gone through a lot. She is disabled right now, so um, please take it easy on her hair because it is a delicate situation.
But this is the outcome of her K-tips. Let me know what you guys think because, you know, we are talking about extensions here, which is my favorite, and I have been loving the K-tip extensions. So I did record this for an online course which I felt like was so needed for the African-American community, especially during Invisible Kate tips. So drop a comment, let me know what you guys think, and check out my next video.
