How To Switch From ChatGPT to Claude Without Losing Anything

Javier Torres shows how to export your ChatGPT memories and chat history using a custom prompt in the thinking model, then import them into Claude's memory feature. ChatGPT projects need separate exports since they're isolated, and Claude's memory updates every 24 hours.

In this video, I'm gonna walk you through a really easy process transitioning your most important information from ChatGPT to Claude so you hit the ground running without losing anything that matters. So we're gonna jump over to my desk and I'm gonna show you how we actually get all your information transferred from ChatGPT to Claude. So open up your ChatGPT right here. So you're gonna go to the bottom left-hand corner You're gonna go to your systems, then to personalization. And then right here, I want you to make sure that the memory is clicked on in your memory section. Here you want your reference saved memories to be turned on, your reference browser memories, and your reference chat history. Ideally, all this has already been on for a long time, so it's saved all those memories to be able to transfer over. Once you make sure that those are checked right here, I want you to grab this prompt that I have for you right here. You'll be able to find this prompt in the description of this video. To make things easier, I actually made a Notion doc with the exact prompt you need to use to put into your ChatGPT and the instructions authorized by Claude itself to be able to transfer your memories from any other LLM over to Claude. So you're gonna go right here. It's a very basic prompt saying, hey, I'm moving from another service. I wanna export my data, list every memory you have stored about me, As well as context. You guys can read that yourself right there. I'm just going to copy this right here. I'm going to go over back to ChatGPT. I'm going to paste this in. And one important thing, you want to make sure you're going to go up to ChatGPT and click the thinking model. This is very important because it's going to actually go through a few of the thinking cycles to be able to extract more information than just the basic level. For the purposes of this exercise, I use my backup account and not my main ChatGPT accounts, and you guys wouldn't see all my custom GPTs and all my conversations that I've been having. But when you set that prompt in, it's actually going to start extracting all the different conversations that you guys have had in the past in an easy way for you to copy paste it over. The main thing to remember here is to use the thinking model because it's going to give you the best results and the most saved memory. Let's just pretend that this was the memory that was saved. Next thing we're going to do is we're going to go over to Claude. You're going to go settings right here. You're going to go to, then right here, it's the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6th one down, capabilities. Right here under capabilities, it's actually going to say import memory from other AI providers, start import. And then here's where you import all the information that you got from ChatGPT. I've already done this in the past, so I'm not going to do this right now. Before you transfer anything from ChatGPT to Claude, the important thing is to review the information that it has about you. Sometimes information can get a little bit cluttered. It might have your wrong city, your wrong information. Make sure that this information is accurate before you import anything because obviously you want the information that you're importing from ChatGPT to Claude to be accurate. So make sure to double-check, triple-check. It's gonna pay off. The cool thing about Cloud Memory is it actually updates every 24-hour cycle with all the chats and projects that you're working on. Another thing to remember, if you have projects, here's the thing, projects live within their own framework. So if you're a ChatGPT power user and you actually use projects, you need to do this cycle for each one of your projects. The cool thing about projects in ChatGPT is it lives in its own container, but with that, it's not pulled into your overall memory. So make sure to grab that prompt, you paste it in again, and you run that cycle over and over for each one of your projects. You wanna just import those into your memory so it has a greater data bank. And boom, just like that, you imported your most valuable information from ChatGPT to Claude in under 5 minutes. And you kept all the important information. It's as easy as that. And if you want the instructions of how to transfer that over in written form, I made a Notion doc explaining just that with the prompts ready to copy paste for you. Without further ado, let's pray. Father God, I just thank you, Father, for everyone that watched the end of this video. I pray that you just bless their AI endeavors, their business endeavors, their creative endeavors, that they're able to just figure it out. and make things happen.
