How Can You CRUSH Your Ad Campaigns, Despite Ad Cost Getting Higher...

Hernan Vazquez explains why Facebook ad costs have climbed since 2020 and outlines three ways to stay profitable: acquire more customers, increase what each customer spends through upsells and price hikes, and boost repeat purchases. A $997 upsell with a 0.5% take-rate can dramatically raise average order value.

We have a lot of a lot of options, uh, for several— for, for entrepreneurs in different stages that can definitely help you scaling your business this year. So, uh, yesterday I was giving a talk, a great talk, for a, a lot of business owners and digital, uh, agency— digital marketing agency business owners. And, uh, one of the things that I touched based upon is how the cost to acquire a customer, how the cost to get a click, how the cost to show somebody your ads on Facebook is going up, and what these guys could do to actually remediate that so that they could keep on crushing it. And if you are advertising, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're a business owner, you might want to know exactly what's going on so that you can keep on crushing it. All right, now let me actually share my screen for a moment because I want to share with you part of that presentation that I did, um, based on, based on the talk that I gave yesterday. So let me actually share my screen. I'm going to share my screen real quick. There we go. So this is one of those slides that I showed, uh, you know, these business owners, these digital marketing agency owners. And as you can see, uh, this is, uh, this is the source of this is Amplify Data. And the CPC, which is the cost per click, the cost to, to get a click on Facebook, is going up, right? The cost to get a click on Facebook is going up since May 2020 to May 2021. It's gone up, uh, pretty dramatically, I would say. Basically, the cost is doubling. So if the increasing cost per click doubles, that means that the cost to acquire a customer usually doubles as well, because then you need to spend more money to get the same amount of clicks, right? And on this case, we have a little bit of a spike. This usually happens during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, so November, end of November and December. We have the holiday season right here, so this is why you see this spike. And then it goes down as well. So this is what's going to happen this year and the year later and the year after and the year after. So usually we see a spike in cost per click during that season. It's the highest season. Then we probably have Fourth of July sale, which also creates a spike. So the point here is that cost per clicks are going up. But this is not only the problem. The problem is that I also show them this. This is the e-commerce average weekly Facebook reported ROAS. And if you see the dark blue ROAS, Facebook ROAS, in the background, right, this is, uh, last year. So this is 2020-2021 period. And 2021-2022, the Facebook ROAS is actually going down. So if you can see here, other than again during this period, which is kind of weird because we have the holiday season, Facebook's Facebook ROAS is actually lower. And this has to do not only with increasing cost per click, but also with iOS issues, right, and tracking issues and whatnot. So what I want to share with you guys today— let me go back to the main talking head thingy here. Okay, there we go. So what I want to share with you guys today is how you can remediate this, okay? How you can still crush it with your campaigns, with your advertising, even if you are noticing that that the cost to acquire a customer is going up, all right? So right now, for instance, we're running a funnel for my $100 Million Social Media Ads Framework, has allowed us to create a lot of good ads. That framework, using that framework over and over again has allowed us to create really good ads for guys like Frank Kern, Grant Cardone, Tony Robbins, many others. And we're running ads to that and the cost to acquire a customer is around $100. on that funnel, right? Like a couple years ago, $100 to acquire a customer was a big deal, but now the average cart value of that funnel is around $115. So we're good. It's not that big of a deal, right? So it's not about how much you're paying to acquire a customer, it's how much that customer is worth to you. And what happens is that a lot of entrepreneurs are struggling because their cost to acquire a customer has gone up, but they haven't worked on their lifetime value of the customer or the average order value. So I don't mind paying $500 for a customer as long as the lifetime value of that customer, it's over $500. Let me go back to basics here because there are basically 3 rules. Jay Abraham calls this the 3 golden rules to scaling any business, and this applies especially when you are acquiring traffic through paid advertising. Okay, there are 3 golden rules that anyone can follow no matter what you sell, no matter what industry you're in, that will allow you to scale. Okay, so the first rule is get more clients or get more sales. That's where 99% of entrepreneurs focus. Okay, they want to get more sales, they want to get more leads, they want to go out there, they want to advertise more, and that's great, but that's only one— that's only 33% of the whole equation to get you to scale your business and become more profitable and grow your company. That's only 33% of the equation. Now again, if you're only relying on that and you don't apply rule number 2 and rule number 3, you will be struggling right now with the current state of advertising because again, Facebook ad costs are going up. So again, 99% of entrepreneurs focus on increase or get more customers, right? Get more leads, get more customers, get new fresh blood in your business, which is great. Now the second rule of advertising— the second rule, or rather the second rule to, um, to scaling any business— is get those customers to give you more money. Get those customers to give you more money. So number one is get more customers, right? Number 2 is get those customers give you more money. The way you can do this is by actually increasing your prices, of course, right? There's inflation right now, whatever, with this craziness going on in the world. Uh, you know, gas prices are going up in the States, across the globe, actually in Europe as well. So raise your prices. Raise your prices could help you remediate this. But you don't have to raise your prices. What you can do is you can actually offer these guys more stuff. So they will be giving you more money, right? Like, uh, you know, if you have a backend product that's a higher ticket, that will tick box number 2, which is get these guys to give you more money. So, uh, one of the experiments that we ran when I was Frank Kern's CMO and main marketing guy, main, main, uh, main, um, advertiser, media buyer, one of the things that we did was to add on a book funnel was to add a $997 upsell. It was the 3rd upsell on that funnel, $997. And we only got like a 0.5% take rate on that 3rd upsell, but it increased the average cart value like crazy, increased the average order value like crazy because we were able to sell a higher price point. So that means that these people gave us more money. These new customers gave us more money. So rule number 1, get more customers. Rule number 2, get these customers to give you more money. Again, you can do this by increasing your prices, or you can do this by selling more stuff, more expensive stuff to them. And rule number 3, which is also something that a lot of entrepreneurs forget about, and business owners are, and advertisers and marketing guys, they forget about this, is get these people to give you money more frequently. Increase the frequency of transaction. So if they give you money one once, like on their entire lifetime, right? You can increase that by actually setting up a backend follow-up system or setting up a continuity program or a subscription program. So number one, get more customers. Number two, increase the ticket or increase the value of each customer, which is exactly what you need to do right now if you want to survive and keep on advertising. And number 3, increase the frequency of transaction. Get these new customers or get all of your customers to give you money more frequently. Okay, so these 3 rules can help you scale no matter what the market is doing, no matter where you're advertising, no matter what you're doing. These 3 rules, if you keep it super simple and think about this, how can I get more customers, which is what most people think about, but number 2, how can I get these customers to give me more money? How can I increase the frequency of transaction? from these customers. If you keep it super simple, your business will thrive no matter what happens across the globe. I remember, uh, Russell Brunson saying on stage once that, um, uh, the, the only person that he kept on buying from was Dan Kennedy. And the reason he kept on buying from Dan Kennedy is because Dan Kennedy kept on offering him stuff when everyone else stopped. Dan Kennedy kept on offering him stuff. So of course, Dan Kennedy, who's one of the OGs of direct response marketing. And, you know, I'm a big fan, and I have a, I have a picture of that, that guy right there, uh, alongside, uh, Gary Halbert right there. And, uh, and, and, and Dan Kennedy kept on offering his list stuff, right? So as long as your stuff is helpful and as long as your stuff is actually improving quality of life for your clients, there's no reason why you couldn't be selling more. Now, if you want us to help you developing either one of these rules or all the 3 rules, getting you more customers, increasing the ticket value or the average order value, the lifetime value of each customer, or increasing the frequency of transaction of each of these customers, head over to scaledriven.com.
