How To Avoid Facebook/Meta Ad Bans And Shutdowns Using Business Manager Architecture

Set up multiple Business Managers and ad accounts to protect your Meta advertising from bans and shutdowns. Keep a dedicated data account for audiences, separate production accounts for spending, and a test account for creatives. Add a new production account for every $5K-$10K in daily spend, and replicate pixels across managers so you don't lose data if one gets shut down.

Hey everybody, what's going on? I just wanted to record this quick video tutorial to show you the business manager architecture that I like to build when it comes to preparing to scale or when it comes to scaling a Meta advertising campaign. So this is the exact same business structure that we've used to scale campaigns up to $1 million a month and $1.5 million a month in profitable ad spend. And this will allow you to do many things. The first thing is that it will allow you to set the stage for you to scale with security, safety, and longevity. We all know that Meta can be really finicky when it comes to shutdowns, when it comes to bans, when it comes to all of that. So I want to kind of gloss over and I want to kind of do these tutorials so that you can actually have a lot of longevity as you scale, especially when Meta is critical for your business. Livelihood, okay? Because if you get a shutdown, this could be devastating for your business, and I don't want that to happen to you. So I'm going to lay that out, number one, and number two, so that you can scale consistently. And whether you're at right now, you know, it doesn't matter if you're just starting out, if you're spending maybe $10,000, $20,000, $30,000 a month, or if you're already spending a couple hundred thousand a month, uh, this business structure, uh, this business manager structure will help you scaling even further or maybe setting the stage so that you can sleep at night, which is always a good thing. All right. So of course, everything stems out of a business manager. Needless to say that you need to have a business manager. And in this case, I always suggest, always, always suggest that you have 2, maybe 3 business manager admins. Now, these could be people within your team. This could be people that you know well. This could be your spouse, your family. It doesn't matter. The reason why you want to have 2, maybe 3 different Business Manager admins, people that you trust of course, is because something that has been happening a lot on Facebook is that, you know, personal ad account bans. And if you— or personal business profiles or personal ad profiles banned. The problem with that is that if you have just one admin on your Business Manager right now and you're spending a lot of money, you can't do anything. Like, you literally can't do anything. You get locked out, out of stopping campaigns, starting campaigns, whatever. So it becomes a big, big, big liability. Okay, so always, always, always have more than one admin in your Business Manager from the get-go. Okay, it doesn't matter if you're spending zero, just have more than one Business Manager admin in your Business Manager. And ideally, you will have more than one Business Manager. Okay, so you will have 2, maybe 3 Business Managers with 2 to 3 Business Manager admins in these business managers, because again, if you get hit with a personal ban, number one, they're hard to revert. They're, they're reversible. You can revert them, but it takes long to revert them. Okay. That's the first thing. So out of this, what you're going to have is you're going to have, of course, your ad accounts. Okay. But here's what we want to do. And this is something that you can do from the get-go. Okay. From the get-go, you can open more than one ad account in your business manager, which, you know, they're free to open. So I would suggest that you, you know, just open them. So you would have more than one ad account. And then ideally, this is not necessary, but ideally you will get different— you will have different payment methods in each ad account. You will have different credit cards in each ad account. Now, if you have an online bank or a virtual bank, you can, you know, just have different virtual cards. It doesn't matter if they are like issued to the same like business owner or whatever. It doesn't really matter. But you want to have different payment methods. It's not critical, but it is ideally and it is advisable. Now, when you're starting out, what you're going to do is you're going to have this, okay? You're going to have ad account number 1. Ad account number 2, right, and whatnot. So this is what I like to do, and this is something that I learned back from Brad Bearden— super cool guy, by the way— and when I was working with Frank Kern and I was one of Frank's media buyers, is that you want to divide these ad accounts and you want to have ad account number 1 is going to be what's called a data account or a data account. Now on this ad account, you're not going to run any ads. You might run like a $5, like a $1 a day like campaign just to keep the ad account active because If you don't have— and if you don't have activity on the ad accounts, Facebook will shut them down after 90 days. So you want to have at least $1 a day type of campaign running on each of these accounts, okay? So page likes, engagement, doesn't matter. So you want to— you want to have a data account, and then on this ad account, what you're gonna do is you're gonna build your audiences, okay? So you're gonna upload everything here, you're gonna build your audiences from your pixel, you're gonna upload your custom audiences and everything to these data account. Again, thank you, Brad, for showing me this. You're a lifesaver. And since we started implementing this, it was really a game changer because at any given point your ad accounts can be shut down, but if you lose the data account, then you also lose the audiences. Okay, so you don't want to do that. And then you can share these audiences with the other ad accounts that you have. Now you're gonna have also a production account. So this is gonna be your production account. This is where most of your ad spend is gonna be. Okay, so this is where you're gonna run the ads. So you're gonna share your audiences with these ad accounts, okay? And then what I like to have at scale, initially you don't have to do this, but once you're spending, you know, I would say probably $1,000 a day or $2,000 a day, you want to have a test account. So this test account is an account that you will use to test new angles, okay? To test new creatives, test new angles, test everything, because what happens is that when you're testing, you don't know what's gonna get approved or not. At some point you kind of, you know, develop a sense, kind of a sense of what's gonna get approved versus what's not gonna get approved. But in this case, you wanna have a test account so that you can just go to town when it comes to creatives, creative testing, and if anything gets shut down, you don't hit the CPMs on the other production, on the other accounts, okay? So you can test here, and again, you're gonna share your audiences with this test account. Again, you don't need this to do from the get-go, but it's always a good idea. And then on this test account, you're gonna be running tests, and this production account is where most of your budget gonna go, and then you're gonna have a data account just for building the audiences. Okay, now as you start scaling, my recommendation is that every $5K to $10K a day in ad spend, you will add another production account. Okay, so in this case, you will have another production account every $5K to $10K a day in ad spend. Okay, so this is gonna be spending $5K a day, $5K to $10K a day. Okay. $10K a day. And the same here, okay? So in this case, you're gonna have production number 2 or production number 3 or whatever, right? So 3, 4. Now the test account is going to be number 4. So the reason behind it is because you can get capped as to how much you can spend on any given ad account without further notice. So if you are trying to scale, then it's always a good idea to have more ad accounts always running. And the more you spend, the more ad accounts you can open, okay? So this is always a good idea to have this. And then You also want to have another business manager ready to go. Ideally, you would have like 2 business managers again with more than one admin on each of them. Okay, and then you will have a pixel per business manager. You will have a pixel here, a pixel here, and then both pixels need to be present on your pages because if you lose the business manager, which could also happen, then you don't skip a beat. You can just, you know, relaunch from this new business manager without losing all of the data. Okay, you will lose the audiences, but you can just recreate them with the pixel data. Okay, so in a nutshell, this is what we like to do when it comes to our general architecture. And if you have, if you have agencies coming in and helping you, you are going to give them access to your Business Manager through the partner. Okay, so the partner ID, you're gonna give them access to your Business Manager, and then they can either run ads from your production account or they can have their own ad accounts. We like to run ads from the production accounts from the client. So in case we don't work with them anymore, boom, they just sever this link and they keep all the data. So that's the way we like to do things. But some agencies I know that they like to, you know, run ads on their own ad accounts. Now do expect different results per ad account, uh, for some reason that happens. So do expect this, uh, but this is what we like to do. And this will give you safety, security, this will give you longevity, because if an ad account goes down, you can immediately bump up a new one, and you always have new accounts running. And I would suggest that as you start scaling, again, you want to have more than one ad account running and ready to go and priming. The way you prime them are pretty simple. You just run like $5 a day or $1 a day like campaigns on all of these, or engagement campaigns, and that's how you keep them active. Okay, so I hope that this is helpful because I know that many of you guys are scaling. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments somewhere around here, and I will be more than happy to answer them. Thanks so much. Take it easy. Have a good day. Bye-bye.
