What To Do When Your Facebook Ads Are Not Being Approved?

Facebook's automated systems flag ads for income claims, MLM, or political content even when they're compliant. Appeal disapprovals through Business Manager's chat feature for human review, test one ad variation at a time, and check both your creative and landing page for policy violations to avoid account shutdown.

All right, and we are live. What is going on everybody? Welcome to another video and thank you for joining me today on this real quick video. And I wanted to kind of help you guys out when it comes to launching your ads because the reality is that, um, you know, a lot of us are running, you know, ad accounts or ad campaigns rather, and some of us are experiencing that our ads are not being approved. So let me see if I can share with you guys something really cool. So Let me see if I can do this without breaking anything. Okay, so this is one of the ad accounts that I run for one of my clients, okay? So as you can see, during October we spent close to, you know, a little bit over $100,000 on ads, all right? And this is in 3 different accounts. So 3 different ad accounts, we spent a little bit over $100K. Let me see if I can switch that to November and see how much. So around a little bit less because we were doing a lot of retargeting for the holiday season and whatnot. Okay, so the problem is that when you're running at these numbers, okay, when you're running at these, this amount of money when it comes to Facebook ads, and these are US dollars by the way, we are spending anywhere between $5,000 to, you know, $3,000 to $5,000 to $7,000 per day. And the problem becomes that you need to be constantly launching new ads. All right, you're reaching those audiences and you want to constantly be— not constantly like every day, but every week it would be a good idea to refresh your creatives. The problem with that becomes that whenever you're doing that, there are a lot of stuff in place that could make your ads not go through, meaning not being approved, right? And what happens? You don't need to be spending $3,000 to $5,000 per day on advertising to actually understand what's going on and to actually experience the stuff that is not being approved. So how do you deal with that? What do you do? Well, in those cases, it's usually a good idea to do 2 things. The first one is, I always do this and I always recommend this, the reality is that Facebook during this last holiday season in 2018, almost finishing 2018, they have developed and they have tightened up the algorithms that allow you to launch a new ad, and they have a lot of automation in place, so they have tightened up the algorithm so that whatever has to do with income claims, and if you're even mentioning the word money in your ad, it can be triggered. And sometimes the reality is that the algorithm might be tightened up, but it's not accurate at all, because for this specific ad account, we're running ads for a webinar, right? And for this specific client, I get a lot of, I get a lot of, you know, ads rejected because of MLM or work-from-home opportunities. We're not promoting anything like that, all right? Or maybe I would get like something like political ads. These ads, these ads are political, so, or politically related, whatever. So you can actually figure it out that those are 100% automated declines, right? And the reality is that they have tightened up a lot, so A lot of ads are not being approved just because. It has nothing to do with your ad, it has nothing to do with your landing page, it has nothing to do with your video, provided that, A, you're running within the policy of Facebook, like you're not running anything that's banned or restricted or whatever, and that your ad is actually compliant, right? That you're not having any income claim and whatnot. So based on that alone, you can actually appeal the ad, and that's a lot of people, people are not doing that, all right? Now here's the thing though. Well, it's something funny that is happening with Facebook. When you're appealing an ad, when you're appealing, let's say that you have 4 ads, that you launch 4 ads, the copy's exactly the same, but maybe you change the image, right? You change the image on each of these ads. So the copy's the same, but you test different images. And what's funny is that you might get one of the ads approved and the other 3 disapproved. And the reality is that whenever that happens, Maybe you appeal the remaining 3 ads that got approved and one of them gets approved, like reapproved, somebody goes through it and reapproves it, but maybe one of them or the remaining 2 are denied for different reasons, right? Like one could be because, well, no, your ad is not compliant, and then the other one could be, well, your ad is racist or whatever. That means that there's different people reviewing different ads. And if you think about it, that makes sense, right? Like Facebook is a big company, they rely a lot on automation and whatnot, so what are you doing? Those cases? Well, the best thing that you could do is to— let me actually show it to you real quick. So the best thing that you could possibly do is within your Business Manager, you want to go to this little, this little thing right here, okay? This, I don't know, how do you call it? Like this question mark. Sorry, it was a brain fart. So you click on it, and then if you scroll down, or right here, here it is. So you contact, you click there, Contact Us. This will open a brand new window or tab, and And this, if you scroll down, today is Saturday, so it's not gonna be open. So you can email them, and then during Monday through Friday, you want to chat with them. You want to use this option right here. And this is done again from your Business Manager. Why? Because usually email can take, I don't know, anywhere between 24 to 48 hours, and chat is almost instantly, okay? You chat with them, you tell them, hey, listen, these ads are being disapproved. They're being disapproved for various reasons, but they're within compliance. What can you do? Those guys are usually, you know, pretty receptive and pretty, you know, they will reapprove your ad or they will send it internally to their policy team, which makes it way easier, okay, or way better, I would say. So that is something that you want to have in mind when it comes to your ads not being approved. Now, the problem with your ads not being approved is the fact that, A, you're not delivering, which means that you're not getting traffic, which means that you're not getting you're not making money, right? Whenever your ads are not being approved, you're not spending money either, which could be a good thing, but if you have a good dialing funnel and you're scaling, you wanna have your ads delivering, right? That's the main point, number one. But also number two, the problem with getting a lot of ads disapproved is that they can jeopardize— let's say that you launch 10 new ads and they all come back disapproved, they can jeopardize the health of your ad account. So that is something that you wanna be really careful with. Whenever you launch an ad, just launch one variation, see if it gets through. If it doesn't, work on that, and then you can relaunch it or get it whitelisted by a rep, and then you can launch different variations. Because again, if you launch like 50 different ads and they all get disapproved, you can get your ad account shut down, okay? So have that in mind. But also, provided that you are within compliance, that you are launching ads, that you're not pushing anything shady or anything banned within Facebook and whatnot. So have in mind that this is part of the game. It is what it is right now, but I hope this helps. Go ahead and chat with them. This is really important whenever you're spending money on ads, you get reached out by Facebook. If you want to have a rep, just say yes, okay? Say yes because this point of contact can make your life so much easier. And, you know, it made my— I know that it made mine so much easier whenever you're scaling up. All right, so that is something that you want to have in mind. The other thing that you want to have in mind when it comes to the ad itself is that maybe the ad has nothing wrong, but maybe the landing page is not that compliant. So you want to tweak also the landing page because they check the 2 things. They check both the ad itself and the landing page as well. So I hope this helps. If it does, feel free to share this and like it and comment and share this with somebody that needs to to see this. Maybe you're having these issues. Maybe there's a friend out there in need. Go ahead and share it with them. And if you want me to personally walk you through my campaigns, how we're getting to spend $3,000 to $5,000 to $10,000 on some days every single day profitably, what kind of funnels are there, what kind of ads we're running, what kind of email marketing automation we're doing, etc., etc., go to growthleague.net. All right, there's gonna be a link somewhere around here. Go to growthleague.net, read that page. I'm putting an extremely small group of consulting. I don't have a lot of time.
