In this video, paid‑media and funnel consultant Hernan Vazquez shares a humorous client story to illustrate why more online traffic can sometimes hurt a business. He describes a former client who sold spy‑related hardware (drones, cell‑phone jammers) and was receiving massive daily Google traffic, especially from searches for “hidden cameras.” Despite the high volume and seemingly high‑quality geographic sources, the site generated virtually no sales. Vazquez investigated and realized the traffic was mismatched with the client’s true target audience. He revamped the client’s SEO strategy, creating content that aligned with the intended market rather than the unrelated “hidden camera” queries. After the SEO shift, overall traffic dropped, but conversion rates surged, leading to a dramatic increase in sales. Vazquez uses this anecdote to argue that traffic quantity is often less important than offer relevance, website conversion quality, and targeting the right audience. He concludes by encouraging viewers to focus on offer and conversion improvements rather than merely buying more traffic, and invites questions in the comments.

Here's a funny story of a client of mine that had too much traffic for his own good. Hey everybody, this is Hernan Vazquez, and for the past 7 years I've been helping entrepreneurs and business owners getting more sales and more leads online through the use of paid media like Facebook ads, for example, and sales funnels. And a lot of business owners come to me because they have a proven product, right? They know their product is good, they know their service is good, they have a demand for it, But for some reason, they're not getting the results they want. You know, they're ticking all the boxes, they're crossing all the T's, dotting all the I's, they're doing what the gurus are telling them to do. They're just not growing fast enough. Like for example, I had a client of mine once and he had— this is a really funny story by the way— he has this niche type of website, right? He used to sell— he was kind of a spy, like a, you know, like a civilian but a spy. He used to sell like drones. This was 5 or 6 years ago, by the way. And he used to sell these drones and these cell phone jammers, and he would have these big contracts with defense, right? Like the Department of Defense of governments from the US, they will hire him, they will buy his stuff. And he used to get a lot of traffic from Google, like tons of traffic, and I mean tons of traffic per day, but he didn't get any sales at all. So what we did next was pretty funny. I kind of went into investigator mode, okay? I went— he was a spy, so I decided to put my my spy cap. And, you know, we went through his website. His website was well, it was converting well. It just didn't make any sense. Like, he was getting all of this traffic and from, from good high-quality countries, and he wasn't getting sales. So I started investigating more, and I discovered that one of his main products was, you know, like spy cameras, little cameras that you would put on the wall and whatnot. And one of the main queries, one of the main searches that he was getting traffic from was the word hidden cameras. You can imagine then that the traffic, the quality of traffic, the relevancy of that traffic was not the best, right? Because people were searching for hidden cameras and they were landing on his website. So that was funny, that was a funny story. So what we did was we kind of revamped his SEO strategy with my firm back in the day, and I advised him on how to start generating content. And I would be more relevant to the audience that he was actually targeting. And here's the funny story: his traffic actually went down, but his sales went up and through the roof. So there you have it. Sometimes it's not about the traffic. More times than not, you don't need more traffic to get more sales. And most time, more often than not, you don't have a traffic problem because you can actually go out and buy a lot of traffic if you have the budget for it, right? You can launch a Facebook campaign, you can turn on the traffic switch, and there you go. But the main problem might not be the traffic. Your main problem might be maybe the offer is not good enough, or maybe the website is not converting well enough, and all of that good stuff. All right guys, so, so I hope that you enjoyed this video. If you have any questions, drop them in the comments below, and please feel free to share this with somebody that might enjoy it. I'll see you soon. Bye-bye.
