Olé, you guys, and welcome to The Longevity Vet. I'm Dr. Kevin Toman Toman, and I'm glad you're here. I've been a veterinarian for almost 40 years, and I'm a pet longevity specialist. Here are 5 things that you did not know about your cat's kidney disease. Number 1, stop with a low protein diet. Instead, feed to maintain their body weight, even if it takes a little bit of extra protein. Number 2, recognize that high blood pressure will kill your cat's kidneys, so double-check blood pressure at least twice a year in your cat. Number 3, understand that periodontal disease is responsible for up to 1/3 of cat kidney disease cases, so have dental x-rays taken of your cat's mouth at least once a year. Number 4, research the prescription longevity drug Rapamycin, which not only extends lifespan by up to 14% but also helps kidney disease. And finally, number 5, check out the AIM injectable treatment coming out of Tokyo in 2026. It's a game changer and may revolutionize your cat's kidney care. I'm Dr. Kevin Toman. If these things matter to you, and they should, please reach out to me at www.helpingpetslivelonger.com. I will help you if I can.
