Dr. Kevin Toman switched his golden retriever Annabelle from kibble to home-cooked meals with Trader Joe's chicken, vegetables, and broccoli for its cancer-fighting sulforaphane. Dogs on home-cooked diets live up to 2.3 years longer than those on kibble, and Annabelle's stool volume dropped 80%.

Well, hello you guys and welcome. I'm the Longevity Vet, but you can call me Kevin, and in today's video I'm going to talk about what we feed our 1-year-old golden retriever puppy Annabelle and why. When we first got Annabelle over a year ago, she was on a standard puppy kibble, but my girlfriend Angela and I stopped that right off the bat. Why? Because current science tells us how unhealthy traditional kibbles are for the pets we love. Wish I had known that 40 years ago because I fed kibbles for a long time, but I didn't. Our next stop was Honest Kitchen products, but for whatever reason, the Honest Kitchen product that we chose created green poop, soft poop, and lots of it. So that was a non-starter for us as well. Angela and I then decided to switch to a home-cooked diet for Annabelle because there was a recent study that showed dogs on a home-cooked diet lived up to 2.3 years longer than dogs on a traditional kibble. So our current diet for Annabelle consists of chicken meat from Trader Joe's in combination with a grain and vegetable mix and broccoli. Why broccoli? Because Annabelle is a Golden Retriever, and so she's at high risk for cancer, and broccoli contains a potent ingredient called sulforaphane, which is a natural cancer fighter. It also has a lot of fiber in it, and Annabelle's poops are about 20% of what they were on Honest Kitchen. Listen, I'm Dr. Kevin Toman. I run helpingpetslivelonger.com. I do free longevity consults 4 days a week. Let's get together.
