In this June favorites video, Vanessa Van Edwards frames her picks around five summer goals. First, she promotes Function Health, a comprehensive blood‑testing service that revealed her low copper caused by excess zinc supplementation, helped her understand fatigue, and even showed she is biologically 13 years younger, offering a discount for viewers. Second, she shares a quiet, addictive drop‑in‑the‑box game she plays with her daughter to increase family playtime. Third, she highlights Amy Poehler’s "Good Hang" podcast as her weekly source of laughter and conversation. Fourth, she commits to reading more, naming two books she’ll tackle this month—Erin McGough’s The Secret Language of Work and How to Not Know—to curb her habit of skimming. Finally, she focuses on strength, showcasing grip‑strength equipment she uses for heavy lifting to support aging muscles, again tying it to her Function Health report. The tone is personal, enthusiastic, and promotional, with a clear call‑to‑action for viewers to try the health service and adopt similar goals.

It's time for June favorites! Woo! First, since it's June, I am framing all my favorites around my summer goals, and my first big summer goal is to get my health on track. I am obsessed, and this is my very first favorite, with Function Health. Early last year, I got an email from Dr. Mark Hyman about Function Health, and I was like, okay, what is it? It's blood work that looks at your hormones, your metabolism, your immunity, basically your entire body in a couple of tests. I was so tired, like so fatigued. I was sleeping like 9 or 10 hours a night and then needing a nap or two a day. I just knew something was wrong. I was like, I don't even know what is wrong. Like, I don't I didn't even know what to test. I got the tests and I saw one of my markers, and it tested over 100 things. One of my markers was extremely low— copper. Copper. And I was like, what? It comes with clinician notes and it tells me your copper, your low copper, might be because you're over-supplementing in zinc. Which I was taking zinc every day, sometimes multiple times a day, because it's how I tried not to get sick when I was traveling and on the road. I was accidentally supplementing too much and it was causing me to have really low zinc, which was causing all this fatigue. It was such an easy answer and I never would have figured it out. So I reached out to Function and I was like, please, please, can you be my partner? I wanna introduce this to all of my followers. If you're having any kind of health issues or you just wanna get a better idea of your health, and it also tells you your biological age. And I was like 13 years younger than my actual age. That alone, friends. I also asked for a discount for you. So you're welcome to grab that if you wanna use it. And like, I cannot wait for you to see your results 'cause it is so, so cool. Favorite thing number 2, best game ever. My second summer goal is to play more. I discovered this little game with my daughter and we love it. You drop yours in and I'll drop mine in. It's really addictive and it's a quiet game, so if you have like a napping baby— Ah! Number 3, my third goal is to laugh more. I love Tuesdays. Why do I love Tuesdays? Because that's the day Amy Poehler's podcast comes out, Good Hang. She's just so good. I feel like I'm with them, you know? I feel like I'm having a conversation with my friends. Fourth goal, I don't know what's happening to my brain, it's probably all the social media, where I feel like it's kind of hard to read and I'm skimming a lot. I had this horrible realization that I was skimming everything, and so my goal this summer is to read more, skim less. I actually have two cool books I'm gonna be reading this month. First is by my girl Erin McGough, The Secret Language of Work. Hyper helpful scripts for every situation, especially at work. I often feel like there's a hidden playbook happening that I don't know about. Then How to Not Know. Simone is a new friend, and actually he sent me this, and he picked even a special chapter out for me. He's like, I think you dig this chapter. Goal number 5 is be strong and lift heavy things. Friends, I'm getting older. My Function Health Report told me so, even though biologically I am 13 years younger, in case you forgot. I have to lift heavy things. Ah! You probably have seen these in the background of my videos. Also, they're really dirty because I use them all the time. It's really good for grip strength, which I'm working on, because the way that you have to hold it, it actually helps all muscles in your arms. You can also do really cool things with it. Whoa! Thank you so much Function for partnering with me on this and also just being a game changer in my health and hopefully a game changer in my readers' health too. Okay, that's it for June favorites. See you in July.
