Matan Hazanov compares remote and in-office work through the lens of tech leaders like Elon Musk and Tobias Lutke. He argues in-person teams capture spontaneous value and cross-pollination that remote work misses, what he calls the "unknown unknowns."

Yeah, it's interesting because there's quite a wide ranging opinions on remote work. So you have obviously the Elon Musk of the world. I think you got to be in the office quite frequently and he's done that with his businesses. You have. I think Tobias Lutke at Shopify is probably on the opposite end of that. And I used to work for one of the best, one of the largest tech companies in the world around their VC arm and all that stuff. And the CEO there was a very visionary guy, the CEO I worked under and he very much believed in, in office work and he allowed it to be hybrid because for whatever reason, but he very much believed that. There's a lot of cross pollination happens when you're working in the same physical space and I obviously see that. I think you see that as well. And the startups that I've invested and I've encouraged that also, that if you're purely remote, you're losing so much and it's hard to know what you're losing. It's like an unknown unknown because you're not there, you don't know what you're losing. But when you're together you can. There's a lot more, a lot more happens.
