2 Things Blocking Clarity in Your Life - Philip McKernan

Philip McKernan identifies two blocks to clarity: complexity in modern life that clouds decisions, and attachment to past experiences that suppresses intuition. He argues that exploring your personal story is essential to avoid passing unresolved issues to your children.

So here's some things that get in the way, because I believe if you don't have soulset, if you're not connected intuitively, you cannot have clarity about anything. You can't expect to have clarity. But I've been thinking, I'm waiting for that thing to show up, the whole thing. If I could just find out, my purpose is, and I'm searching for it, if I could just find out what that is, then I'd be happy. So here's some things that get in the way of creating a soulset. Number one, complexity. Our lives have never been more complex in the history of mankind. Don't sit there and go, yeah, yeah, I know a lot of people have complex lives. I mean, my life's really simple. I've had people sit in front of me, argue, and when they go to the whiteboard and ride it out, it's like 16 budgies flew into the board at 100 miles an hour and exploded all over the board. And it's just mayhem. It's just like shit everywhere. And they're sitting there going, they're justifying how we're masters of two things as human beings, complicating our lives, and then justifying why we do it. We're brilliant at it. We're so good at it, it's unbelievable. So complexity number one. The second one is attachment. There's a lovely little story, and I'm sure many of you have heard it, about the monk, the two monks walking down the road, and they come to a little stream, and there's a woman looking to cross the stream. And the older monk picks up the woman and carries her across. And the younger monk's really pissed and he gets back to the monastery and he goes, what were you doing? He said, you know, we're not allowed to touch women. He goes, I left her down the other side of the bank hours ago. You're still holding onto her. We hold on to attachments. We hold onto stuff like, it's unbelievable. We hold onto our shit. You know what? We don't want to let go of our shit. Because, you know what? It's comfortable in there. It gives us reasons not to grow. It gives us reasons not to stretch ourselves. It gives us reasons to stay in our box. Attachment is incredible. It's so, so. So it just blocks you and it sits here and it suppresses your intuition and pushes you up into your head. And of course, within these, there's lots of different things with them, but I'm just going to give you the top level Stuff your story, your own individual story. There is nothing more magnificent in this world than your story. Yours and yours and yours and yours. Your story is the most magnificent story in the world because it's yours. It is the most magnificent story in the world. And if you do nothing else when you leave here, find somebody to support you on digging into your story because the further. And I don't know who came up with this quote, but it's not mine. The further back you can look, the further forward you can see. When you go back to your past. I have a belief that and a saying that the past. Let's assuming this is the past. The past has created the presence for everything you are today. Every decision, every indecision, every thought, every piece of ability to get in touch with your intuition. Everything you are today was created by your past. Your past has created your present. And your present is creating everything in your future. Everything. But why focus on the past, guys? Hey, what's the point? That's old. Some guy said to me, a lot of people get so pissed when I talk about their story. He goes and he says to me, he says, oh, I've dealt with my past. I've acknowledged it and now I'm moving on. I said, yeah, I can open the door to a complete stranger. I can acknowledge him and go, how you doing? And I can close the door or I can invite him in for dinner and get to know him. You have no idea the magic that lies in your story. And there's shit there too. And the greatest growth is through our shit. And we don't want to go back because we're scared. You go back and visit your story. If you don't do it, do not with me do. Find somebody that can support you to do that. I don't care who it is. It'll be magical. Because you know what? If you don't, you're selfish. You're just selfish because you know what? You're passing it on to the next generation, whether you like it or not. I've had a very painful past. I don't want to deal with it. I've closed that door. And I've got three kids now. And I know I'm not passing on to them because I'm aware, even though I have never dealt with it. And you're just passing your shit on to the next generation. That's all you're doing. You have a moral obligation to deal with your story. A moral obligation if you bring other human beings into this world and if you connect with other human beings. Your story.
