Vishen Lakhiani shares five biohacking practices from Dave Asprey: skip breakfast with a 14-hour daily fast, add butter or MCT oil to coffee for focus, take cold showers to shift your mood and burn fat, wear red-light glasses before bed, and take collagen, protein, omega-3, and probiotics.

Here are the five biggest biohacking tips that can completely change your life. In 2014, I bumped into a really weird man. And I didn't know it then, but this weirdo was gonna totally change my life. It started in Florida. I was speaking at an event, and this guy shows up and he's also a speaker, and immediately whips out this equipment and says, hey, I need to attach these to your bicep. He then proceeded to show me how this weird technology could give you bigger biceps in as little time as possible. Now, that man was Dave Asprey, the original biohacker. He literally coined the word bioh, which today means someone who uses science and technology as well as now mental practices to give their body and mind a remarkable edge. I became a biohacker, and Dave Asprey was one of my greatest teachers. These are five things I learned from the brilliant mind of Dave Asprick. And these are five biohacking tools that you can bring into your life to give you that extra edge. So the first is intermittent fasting. Do you really need to eat breakfast? I practice intermittent fasting around five times a day. Now, what this means is that I put my body in a fasted for about 14 hours a day. I stop eating at 10, and then I won't eat again until, say, 1pm, completely skipping breakfast. It turns out intermittent fasting is highly effective for allowing your body to get rid of food particles which are still floating around your bloodstream to clean itself and thus improve your metabolic efficiency. Now, the second tip. Did you know that you can hack your coffee? So Dave Asprey pioneered something called coffee with fat. Basically, he would put butter or ghee in his coffee. He discovered this while meeting tribes in the Himalayas that drank this enriched coffee with yak milk. So it turns out that English speakers have a nasty perception of the word fat. But fats are actually healthy for your brain. Your brain is made up of fat, and your brain needs fats. Now, people get this wrong all the time. The fat that we have around our body doesn't come from eating things such as olive oil or butter. It comes from carbs, which are stored by your body. Fats actually do not lead to you getting fat. They lead to better brain functioning. Which is why Dave Asprey suggests that people add ghee or butter or what he calls MCT oil to your coffee. It gives you a sharper brain, and it is one of the most powerful biohacking tools even Starbucks is about to follow. Now, speaking of coffee, many of you love starting your day with coffee. But you know what else you should be starting your day with? A cold shower. I know that sounds absolutely disgusting and scary, but. But trust me on this. It turns out cold showers are really powerful. Not just for getting rid of fat, but for shifting your mental state. So if you live in a country where the weather gets cold, start your day with a cold shower. I started with 20 seconds under a cold shower. I worked it all the way up to two minutes. When I visited Dave Asprey at his lab in Vancouver, he even put me in this bizarre chamber, which took the temperature all the way down to minus 100 degrees Celsius. Number four. Biohacking isn't just something you do when you're awake. It's also something you do when you're asleep. You can get yourself into deeper states of sleep where your body has more time to rejuvenate and heal. Sleep is essential for healing and rejuvenating health, longevity, and youthfulness. Now, one of the things that Dave Asprey teaches people to do is to wear blue light blocking glasses. Because in our modern world, the light from screens actually disrupts the receptors in our eye and tricks our brain into staying more alert longer than it should. Blue light blocking glasses, such as the red glasses that Dave Asprey espouses, are actually something you would wear, say after 10pm Just as you're about to go to bed, maybe about two hours before going to bed. And you find that when you wear these, you actually sleep far deeper. And finally, nutritional supplements. Dave is a big advocate of nutritional supplements. Among the supplements that he says we should be taking are collagen, protein, omega 3 fatty acids, and probiotics. Now, of course, there's more to this, but this is a really good way to start. Remember these five principles of biohacking. And if you like this video, know that Dave Asprey's new program on the science of biohacking is now officially on Mindvalley and available to all our members all across the world. And if you're a Mindvalley member, you can dive deep into Dave's new biohacking course directly on the mindvalley platform.
