5 Dumb Manifestation Mistakes Everyone Makes | Vishen Lakhiani

Vishen Lakhiani breaks down five manifestation mistakes: affirmations without action, elaborate altars, passive vision boards, obsessing over angel numbers, and vague "receiving era" posts. He argues the Law of Attraction is wrong; instead, the universe mirrors who you are. Real manifesting requires identity shifts and concrete steps, not rituals.

5 stupid things you're doing right now that are killing your manifesting. And at the Manifesting Summit, we're going to make you stop because this cannot continue. Now, number 1, affirmations. You're standing in your bathroom at 6 AM, toothpaste still on your lip, looking at yourself in a mirror going, "I am a money magnet. Abundance flows to me effortlessly." Then you walk to your kitchen, you open your fridge, and there's 1 egg, half a lime, and a condiment you don't recognize. You are not a money magnet. You're a person who needs groceries. Number 2, The altar. You've built the entire manifesting altar on your nightstand. You've got a crystal with a weird name you don't understand, a $38 candle that smells like Moonlit Sage and Cedar Whisper, and a handwritten note to the universe under the frickin' crystal, like the universe checks under crystals. You've built a shrine. The universe is looking at it going, okay, but are you actually going to do something? Or you're just gonna sit there and smell sage. Number 3, you've built a vision board. There's a picture of Maldives, there's a picture of a Porsche 911. For some reason, there's a picture of Oprah. Every frickin' person has a picture of Oprah on their vision board. No one can fully explain. You look at this board every morning, then you open your laptop and watch 2 hours straight of YouTube. Look, The Secret came out in 2006. If vision boards work, we'd all be in Tuscany by now, and Trump wouldn't be president. Number 4, angel numbers. You see 1111 on your phone, you see 444 on a license plate, and you go, wow, the universe is giving me a sign. You're reading clocks and license plates like you're Nostradamus. That's not a spiritual practice. That is pattern recognition with an essential oil diffuser running in the background. Number 5, the receiving era. You've announced on Instagram that you are entering your receiving era. You don't know what that means. Your followers, don't know what that means. I don't even know what that means. But you said it with a photo of yourself holding a great cup of coffee, staring out into the distance on your frickin' balcony. And it got 444 likes, and you take that as a sign. You then went out and bought a $79 leather-bound journal that you write in with a gold pen. Wrote your desires on page 1, have not gone to page 2 since. The journal is now holding up a wobbly table leg. You've gone from your receiving era to your furniture era. Now, I've seen every one of this in friends of mine. Friends who smell of incense. And I love my friends, but I want to shake them. And listen, when I was a young idioter version of myself, I did some of these too. I admit it. Don't be ashamed. I've been there with you. We've been idiots together. See, the truth is this. You don't attract what you want. The universe simply is too busy to give a shit. It's got like a billion galaxies and star systems and alien species all to worry about. It doesn't care that you need to find your soulmate before the end of the year. What does work is not the Law of Attraction, but the Law of Resonance. The universe doesn't give you what you want. Rather, it reflects back to you who you are. And so the trick is this, to shift your identity, to step into the version of you that you wish to be. And to take action. We go deeper into these psychological principles in Mindvalley's Manifesting Summit. You're gonna learn from many amazing teachers, and the summit is completely free. And none of our teachers smell like incense. All of them are badasses who are doing incredible things in the world, but also have incredible lives and live what they embody. Last year when we ran the summit, we had speakers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Joe Dispenza, and many Mindvalley legends, from Marie Diamond to Reagan Hillier, David Guillaume, Roxy Nafusi, many of the leading teachers in manifesting. Because we believe in uniting different ideas, different fields, to give you true systems, true insights that work. And if you've been following me because of AI, and all of a sudden you're hearing about manifesting and you're going, Vishen, what, are you going to make me rub crystals? No. What we are going to teach you to do is how to master your mind so that you're happier, healthier, and you get more done. I'll see you at the Mindvalley Manifesting Summit.
