Are you breathing efficiently?

YouTube video by Vishen Lakhiani explaining how to assess and improve breathing. The speaker emphasizes nasal, diaphragmatic breathing using a simple hand-on-belly/chest test, claims nasal breathing produces nitric oxide with multiple health benefits, and recommends mouth-taping at night for mouth-breathers to reduce snoring and improve sleep. What's the big deal about breathing? Well, first check in with yourself. Are you breathing right? Some things that you can start doing right now to feel the benefits of the breath is firstly, always be mindful. Are you breathing through your nose or through your mouth? And are you breathing into your diaphragm or into your chest? The simple breath test you can do is put your left hand on your belly, right hand on your chest, and observe. Are you breathing in through your nose and into your diaphragm? Which hand rises first when you inhale? Usually breathe in through your mouth or into your nose. And if you breathe in through your nose, you're doing everything correctly because usually when you breathe into your nose, you automatically breathe diaphragmatically. If you breathe into your chest right now like this, you'll find that you gasp and the air just goes into your lungs. And this isn't efficient breathing. For efficient breathing, you want to breathe in through your nose into your diaphragm. It's the only way we can produce the miracle molecule nitric oxide. That is antiviral, antibacterial, that actually lowers your blood pressure, keeps you calm, relaxed, and actually is something that helps get oxygen into your cells. So breathe through your nose always. And remember, the first two letters of nose is nitric oxide. No. And that's the only way we can produce this through nasal breathing. And that's why I'm so adamant about benefits of nasal breathing. And one of the problems is sleep. When we sleep at night, we actually surrender our breathing to the reptilian brain. And the reptilian brain is running on autopilot. And the problem with this is that if we breathe with stress at night, because maybe we've had a stressful day, our breathing can actually become erratic and we hyperventilating our sleep. And this is not good for your health. So one thing you can do if you're somebody snores. If you wake up with a dry mouth, you wake up like feeling groggy and not energized. What you want to do is tape your mouth. I know it sounds crazy, but yes, if you tape your mouth just before you go to bed, you'll fix snoring, you'll get a deeper night's sleep. And you're also, if you're sleeping in the same room as somebody else, help them have a better night's sleep too. So mouth taping, look into it. It's an amazing thing that you can do if you're a mouth breather and you want to eliminate mouth breathing. From today and switch to nasal breathing.
