Yoga is not about the perfect pose. You just saw on Instagram. There is no perfect pose. The perfect pose is the perfect pose for you today.
One of my favorite quotes from you is, yoga is not just a workout. Yoga is a work in.
That's actually yoga. Yoga is not a pose. Yoga is not a nasana. Yoga is not bending like a pretzel. That's a tiny part of yoga. But if you stop there, you will miss out on the best part. And the best part is cultivating presence in your life. I started practicing yoga with my dad when I was a very little kid. And then eventually I grew out of my yoga practice because we know that everything that our parents do is definitely uncool and we need to do quite the opposite. I started living a very unbalanced lifestyle. I was traveling a lot. I started eating too much, and I became, at some point, 44 pounds overweight. Then eventually I was exhausted, and I was like, someone told me, why don't you just give yoga a shot? And I was like, really? Yoga. Yoga made me realize is that all I had to start chasing was the healthiest version of my body. And by chasing the healthiest version of my body, I started realizing that I was way more than just my body. I was my thoughts, I was my emotions. And I started becoming aware of all those thought patterns, emotion patterns. How? By cultivating presence on the mat. No matter what type of yoga you practice, as long as the intention behind it is to do your work in, you're getting it right.
