How to Avoid the Pill and Boost Your Immune System | Eric Edmeades

Eric Edmeades argues that pharmaceutical companies profit from preventable health problems, using a car maintenance analogy to explain why strengthening your immune system through self-care beats relying on chronic medication.

Pharmaceutical companies are evil, aren't they? We should blame them for everything. No, stop blaming them. You want to know what's really going on? Pharmaceutical companies are serving a need, a need that is being created by our decisions. First, the decisions we make on a day by day basis about our health, and secondly, the decisions we make about how to manage our discomfort. When somebody is sick or they're in pain, there's very often things they could have done to prevent that sickness or prevent that pain. And there are course corrections they could make that could help them recover and help them heal. But today, people want the shortcut. They want the prescription, they want to go to the drugstore and they want a pill that's going to solve their problem right away. The challenge we have with this now is that we have chronic medications, we have medications that people have to take for the rest of their lives. The pharmaceutical companies are making billions and billions of dollars, and so we want to vilify them. But what we really need to take a look at is are they greedy or are we lazy? Your immune system is an incredible, incredible thing. It's almost magical in its power to defend you. Sure, it's incredibly good at defending you against invisible pathogens like germs and bacteria and viruses, but it's also good at defending you against injury. Do you know that if you trip and fall even before you hit the ground, your body is already producing cortisol to close up your blood vessels and slow down your blood so that if you cut yourself, you won't bleed too much. It happens in a split second. Your immune system is fantastic. And it works best when you answer your body's needs. Imagine you and I are going to go for a long drive. We're going to drive from, say, New York to Los Angeles. That's a long drive. That's going to take us days and days before we get in the car. What are we going to do? We're going to make sure that the gas is full, that the oil has been changed, that the, that the fluids are topped up, that the antifreeze is there, that the tires are fresh and have the right pressure in them. We're going to make sure that the car's needs are, are met so that the car can get us to the destination. And your body is the car only. You only get one and you can't trade it in for another one. And it has some very specific needs. And when you begin to understand those needs, then you can build an unbelievably strong immune system. And that's why I've teamed up with Vision, Lakiani and Mindvalley to create a masterclass to really help people gain a solid and basic understanding of the way the immune system works so that you can take care of yourself. Having a strong immune system is the ultimate self defense. It's the ultimate self defense against viruses, diseases, injuries. It's the ultimate way to defend yourself through self care. Join me in Vishchen for this masterclass and learn what your immune system is, how it works, and how you can support it and strengthen it. It is not necessary that you get a cold or a flu every year. It's not necessary that it takes a long time to heal from diseases and injury. Your immune system, when healthy, is unbelievably powerful, and this masterclass will show you how to make it as healthy and strong as possible. I'll see you in the Master class. Sign up right now.
