How To Stop Being Manipulated By The Big Food Industry Once And For All | Eric Edmeades

Eric Edmeades explains how the food industry hides sugar in products to trigger appetite and addiction, prioritizing shareholder profit over your health. He reframes dieting as a misused concept and argues you need to take responsibility for what you actually eat.

If you are carrying a little extra weight or you're not always able to make the food decisions you want to make the way you want to make them, it's absolutely not your fault. You're dealing with a food manufacturing industry that is driven by profits and not by health. You're dealing by a diet industry that's driven by book sales and not results for you.
He's an expert in evolutionary biology and nutritional anthropology. And he didn't just study it from textbooks. He's out in the wild studying what cultures like the Hadza eat and how they function. Thanks for having me. In the scientific world, diet means lifestyle related to that specific species. And every single species has a diet. It's only humans that have come along and used that word, stolen that word, violated the natural trademark of that word, if you will, and renamed it or repurposed it. And so now for humans, diet means temporary alteration to your normal life in order to achieve a short term goal so that you can just slingshot and put all the weight back on. I would put to you that the food industry right now is significantly more deceitful and manipulative than the tobacco industry ever was. And it's not because of one single evil person. It's because the food industry is serving their shareholders and profitability more than they're trying to serve your health. Have you ever asked yourself why sugar is in so many foods? I'll tell you why. It's there for two reasons. Well, okay, three, flavor. But wait a second, it's in a whole lot of things that you don't even know it's there. So it's not there for flavor. It's in your bacon, it's in your sausages, it's in your tomato sauce. So why? Why is it in those things? Because first of all, it stimulates your appetite. In other words, if we put sugar in your food, it's going to make you hungry and you're going to eat more food. Come on, haven't you done it? Haven't you sat. I know I have. At a table and eaten more than you needed to and wondered why. Because there was sugar in it that stimulated your insulin system and it made you hungry. And then the second piece of it is sugar is addictive. And so the more sugar you're eating, the more you need the sugar and the. And since the sugar is hidden, you don't even know you're eating it. And then you wonder why you're craving food all the time. So really, the message here is it's time for you to take a look and say, really, who is responsible for my health? And the answer to that is you.
Because what you're about to learn here is going to change your life. It's going to be a dramatic change. It's going to be a change so visible that that your friends and family are going to see it on your face, and they're going to ask you about this change.
Hi, I'm Eric Edmeads. Join me and let's completely change your relationship with food, starting right now.
