Lucid dreaming may work like hypnotherapy, accessing unconscious states deep enough to plant healing intent and trigger neuroplasticity. The brain rewires itself during sleep when you're aware you're dreaming. It's not necessarily better than hypnotherapy, just another tool.

Anything you can treat through hypnotherapy, you can also treat through lucid dreaming. Because in the same way as a hypnotherapist takes a strand of your consciousness down into the subconscious and plants a seed of healing intent, in a lucid dream you do the same. But you take a strand of your own consciousness down, not just into the subconscious, but right into the depths of the unconscious mind. Why is it so much deeper? Simply because you can't get more unconscious than asleep. So the depths to which you can go in a lucid dream are unparalleled. This does not mean that lucid dreaming is better than hypnotherapy, in fact, that so many of the lucid dreaming techniques that we'll explore are essentially self hypnosis techniques. So I'm not saying lucid dreaming is better, but once you get there, it can work even more powerfully. Lucid dreaming is actually used to transform your brain as well. In a lucid dream, part of the brain reactivates, allowing you to experience the dream as real. And when that part of the brain reactivates, neuroplasticity is engaged. This allows you to literally rewire your brain while you sleep.
