Vishen Lakhiani argues that startups should build to 70% completion, then seek feedback rather than waiting for perfection. Speed matters because most companies pivot anyway. Prioritize self-confidence over others' doubt, ask for help to scale past ego, and make sure you actually like the problem you're solving.

Your confidence in yourself has to be greater than everyone else's doubt because there's so many naysayers and critics and dream killers out there, and usually they're just trying to protect you, but they are imposing their limiting beliefs on you, saying, kim, you can't do this, because I don't think I could do that. Yeah, I think a lot of entrepreneurs can relate to trying to do everything alone, but at some point, you realize you will not scale. So, yes, maybe you get to some sort of success, but ultimately you'll crack under the pressure of trying to do it alone. And when you have the courage to ask for help, that is the game change. Like, my entire business took off as soon as I got over my own ego and asked for help. I use a 70 rule, which is get to 70 of your idea and then go out and talk to people because you need feedback. It doesn't have to be perfect, because whatever you have, I mean, I've invested in over 150 companies now, 99% of them have pivoted their business. So let's just assume your business is going to change. Well, in that case, you better get out there faster. So speed is really important, especially today. Just get out there. It's really important for any entrepreneur out there. If you like the problem you're solving and you like who you're solving it with, and if you say no to one of those two questions, do something else. My successes have been built on humbling, embarrassing mistakes that I've made. And usually nobody talks about it. It's, like, taboo to talk about mistakes or failure or the challenges that we go through every single day. And I think that is a mistake, especially raising four children. I want them to know that it's okay to make mistakes, like, that's how you're going to learn and grow and get better.
