Short motivational talk by Sean Kanan (uploaded by Vishen Lakhiani) arguing that the universe is supportive of human success. Kanan grounds this claim in biological and evolutionary examples (infant reflexes, human survival through cooperation) and frames survival as the baseline for success; he rejects victimhood as a stance incompatible with his teaching.

You have to accept that the universe wants you to win. So many people find themselves in a state where they begin to feel that the universe is literally against them. Victimhood. And victimhood does not exist in my dojo. So how do I know that the universe wants you to win? Well, it's ingrained and encoded in our DNA. How does a baby know not to breathe when you put its head underwater? It knows intuitively. You know, for 200,000 years, Homo sapiens were not the apex predators. We were running around in loincloths trying not to get eaten by saber toothed tigers. Where are those ferocious felines now? They're a notation in an anthropology book. And we are now the dominant species in the planet. It's because we learned to work together. So the universe wants you to win. It wants you to survive. And survival is the baseline for success. You can't succeed if you're not around to do it. Sa.
