A conversational interview between Vishen Lakhiani and Jack Delosa about entrepreneurship, leadership, and business processes. They discuss the Entourage entrepreneurship training model, the primacy of sales/marketing-led growth, the role of regular one-on-ones and leadership vs management, and the idea that robust processes determine business success more than individual people.

All growth is sales and marketing led, right? All growth is sales and marketing led. Unless you're Facebook, but even then, still probably there's a high degree of being marketing driven.
Jack started the Entourage. It is an incredible entrepreneurship training institution in Australia. Thousands of entrepreneurs are members of the Entourage and they have a different view of learning and scaling their business. See, many people escape and go to business school trying to figure out what to do. Then they go into the real world and they find that after two years in business school, often what they learn, they can't apply because the world is changing so fast. The Entourage has a different philosophy. You are enrolled in the Entourage, which is a business institution, while you're building your business. So for two days every month, Entourage members fly all over from Australia to Sydney for two days of training with Jack and his facilitators. And they grow as entrepreneurs together as a tribe going for monthly trainings.
Every single person in my organization has a one on one with their direct manager every single week for half an hour. And so leadership for me is about how do we inspire people and enable people to do their life's best work and how do we challenge them to continually grow? Management is how do we help them stay accountable and help them drive their own personal performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly basis.
And one of the more interesting quotes I read on that is that what determines the success of your business, and I'm paraphrasing here, is process more than people. Now, I know that sounds unconventional, right? Because we all talk about people and Mindvalley is a very people oriented company. But this is what it means. Your process is what? If you have your process rock solid, your people are eventually going to come. Some of them might leave. If I look back 10 years ago, not a single person who was@mindvalley 10 years ago is at Mindvalley today, except me. But we are doing similar things. Some of our things that we do are similar to what we did 10 years ago because the process was preserved. So that great team that was there 10 years ago built a certain process. When you document and you build a process, you help automate a lot of the work you're doing. So you can rise up to higher and higher and higher and higher quality work and you can have more leverage in the company.
