Welcome to this meditation about developing more confidence. This meditation is designed to help you connect with the deep core of confidence that you may not have known you possessed. Very often, the mistake that people make when considering confidence is to believe that confidence is a specific emotion. But that really isn't the case. So before you relax very deeply and allow the music and the tones to take you into a powerful, relaxed focus that will allow you to connect deeply with this inner reserve of confidence, I'll just say a few words about confidence. Really, confidence is relaxation. Specifically, it's the absence of self concern. Any lack of confidence when we experience it, we only know as some form of anxiety. This usually means that we must have made some kind of judgment of ourselves. We might be buying into some kind of negative comparison of ourselves that we've been taught by society, family, or even ourselves. This meditation will allow you to let go of that. When you let go, thoughts may wander in from time to time, and that's fine. You'll be able to connect deeply with your own inner reservoir of confidence. So you can just listen to the sounds and music and follow the things I'm saying as best you can, and all will be well. So now, having said a little bit about confidence, as you begin to relax in a way that's just right for you, I want you to understand that it's okay to be a little uncomfortable, and then you can relax with that. So as you sink deeper into this experience, there is no need to push away less comfortable feelings. You can just allow them to be there exactly as they are. And this is actually exactly what confident people do. There's an assumption that confident people never feel anxiety, but that isn't really true. A confident person isn't really thinking about anything at all other than what they're doing. They're in flow, they're in focus. And through listening to this, you can learn more about trusting your inner flow. So now what I'd like you to do is to allow those eyes to close if they haven't already, and either sitting or lying comfortably. You could begin just by listening to the things I'm saying, to the music and tones, and maybe there's even sounds beyond that that you can hear. And it's fine if you do and it's fine if you don't. Just listening really intently. That's it. And One of the key skills, one of the chief components of the feeling of confidence is relaxation. Physical relaxation. And so I invite you to just notice the weight of your body, the weight of your limbs, warmth or coolness of the air around you, the breaths, the rise and fall when you breathe in and out. And you might even imagine warm, soft, soothing liquid beginning to flow down from the top of your head, through the scalp, down through the muscles of the scalp, and down now through those eyes and forehead muscles and the tiny muscles around the eyes, beginning to relax and let go. That's right. Just imagine a soft soothing liquid or light just flowing down through the jaw and through those neck muscles and down through those shoulders. So that little by little and bit by bit, we relax every muscle, every nerve, every fiber beginning to relax a little more with every easy breath. And with your eyes closed as they are, it's so much easier to notice that little sensation, thoughts and feelings that let you know more about letting go and resting comfortably in awareness. There's so much, but you can just trust instinctively what your unconscious does. You always trust the way your body breathes, for example, the way your body balances your blood gases, the way you digest emotions, meal, the steady beat of your heart. Things that so consistently and so perfectly take care of themselves. And you can imagine that warm, soft, soothing liquid would continue to flow down through the spinal muscles and down through the chest and all the way down to the pelvic bowl, down to the tips of those toes. Every steady beat of your heart, every gentle breath, every note, every sound, taking you deeper and deeper into comfort, into a sense of nobody wanting or needing anything from you. Of course, this can become easier and easier as time goes on. You can use that part of your mind you use when you dream, when you daydream to create just a sense of the most perfect place for you to relax even deeper now. It might be your favorite beach or your favorite armchair. It doesn't matter whether it's inside or outside, somewhere safe that you've often visited or somewhere you just imagine. There's just something about the colors and the sounds and the smells with the feeling of warmth or coolness that lets you know you're safe. There's nobody wanting anything from you, Nobody needing anything from you. Nothing to achieve or accomplish. You can just be as you are now and know that you are enough. Know that things will work out perfectly. And often when people think about confidence, they make the mistake of thinking it's about always knowing what to do or say, when really it's about Knowing how to relax, how to allow your mind to clear so that you know how to find out what to do or say. And obviously your limbic system will report things that could be considered a threat. And so there may sometimes be a little discomfort. You may notice your breathing change or your pulse increase, or your muscles tension. And that's good because that's your signal to relax with that sensation. Just be aware. Allowing those less comfortable sensations to be just as they are in this situation. Paying them attention in a kind way. That's right. And I wonder if you could imagine some way in which you could see yourself, could be on a TV screen. Maybe you can just imagine that you could rest there in that perfect place of safety, seeing yourself from the outside, going through one of those situations where in the past you may have felt less than confident. But we can see something different this time now. You know that it's fun to feel a little anxiety, a little limbic discomfort, but you notice how that becomes your cue to relax. Then we see that version of you over there, breathing easily, looking calm, focused and relaxed. Just moving through that situation with so much more comfort and ease than you would have done before. And allow yourself to see that really clearly. Then just float into there so that you're looking out of those eyes, thinking with that mind, feeling with that heart, enjoying that feeling of physical relaxation and mental clarity that others call confidence. And it's just fine. You can focus exactly on what you need to do. Not needing to think about yourself or your problems, not worrying about what others might think. Just able to focus and flow. Instinctively navigating your way through that situation with real grace. And you trust your unconscious now that deep instinctive flow and you can manifest that now, that same instinctive confidence that allows birds to navigate through flight and salmon to find their way back to the spawning ground. Unerringly powerful instinctive ease. Just focusing on that relaxation and mental clarity that lets you know what's the next piece of information or step that I should take. It's being completely comfortable with taking the time, but not knowing exactly how this will turn out yet, but trusting that it will work out. Really enjoy that. But then we can be back looking at that screen, just relaxing and allowing the experience of that can be completely healed. You may think of yet another situation that would have been challenging to you previously, but this time you can see yourself doing it differently with much more grace and ease. You look relaxed as you observe yourself. You look calm and clear. And I don't know exactly what that will look like for you. But you do. And as you relax, you even deeper now, flowing into that, flowing to that and allowing yourself to be right inside that experience. Looking out through those eyes again, thinking with that mind, feeling with that heart, with that sense of ease, that sense of composure. Enjoy it. That's right. Then you can allow that image to fade and just be relax in that special place, knowing that you now have powerful new instructions to guide your becoming. So there's nothing you have to figure out. We can just be curious about all the little changes that you're going to notice in the coming days and coming weeks. You can just be curious about exactly what they're going to be. But you will notice, in fact, that every time you sit in a chair or walk through a door, you will be instantly reminded to focus on this moment with relaxation and clear intention. Now you can get ready to be active again, knowing that you can bring back with you learnings conscious and unconscious. You can bring back feelings of ease and energy and relaxation. You can look forward to that. You may notice a pleasing sense of anticipation, perhaps a sweet soft tingling in the muscles as you look forward now to being active and energized again in a moment. Not yet, but in a moment when you hear me count from five to one, that can be your signal to come all the way back to normal waking awareness, bringing all of these learnings, conscious and unconscious, back with you. So as I count. 5. Now, just taking some nice deep easy breaths, becoming a little bit more alert. And 4. Another nice deep easy breath, reorienting yourself out of this meditation now, just allowing all that deep relaxation to leave you feeling brighter and clearer. 3. Much more aware of the room around you. You might want to gently move your body.
2.
And take some deeper breaths. And then all the way back. And 1. Open your eyes, emerging from meditation into the next period of activity, taking all those learnings with you. And obviously the more you practice with it, the more you gain.
