With the one and only Dave Asprey. So I see people starting to, to trickle in right now and I am just turning off all notifications on my computer so I don't disturb you with my notification things. Dave, welcome to Mindvalley.
Vishen, I'm so happy to see you.
So we have, it's, it's exactly nine and we just hit 1,000 people live. So a thousand people alive with us right now. This number is definitely going to go up. And for those of you tuning in, let's give Dave a taste of how diverse and vast the mindvalley audience is. So go ahead in the chat, type in where you're from and also type in how you came to hear about Dave's work. We're now at 1,100 people. So I see. Wow, the chat is really blowing up. Hello. Tina from Germany, Derek from Minnesota, Mary from Italy. I was just in Italy. You guys have got the most amazing food. Jorge from Tucson, Carolina from France. Alex from Bulgaria. Wow. And have you guys heard of Dave's work? Go ahead and type it out in the chat. Maybe it was a book. Maybe you tried Bulletproof Coffee. Maybe you bought his products from Whole Foods. How did this man's work in some way influence you? Type it out in the chat. So a lot of people are saying bulletproof coffee. Bulletproof coffee is, is, is a big one. I, I, I love Bulletproof coffee. We were serving it at so many Mindvalley events. Other people said they heard about Dave from the mindvalley app. Dave, remember when we did, we did an interview, one hour long interview in 2019 called how to Live to 120. So a lot of people heard about you from there.
Yeah, that was a really good interview, Vishen. I loved it.
Now some people are saying they heard about you from TikTok. Do you have a massive TikTok audience, Dave?
If I do, I don't know, I apologize. I know that I record a bunch of stuff and we put it on everywhere I can reach people because the idea of what I'm doing is I'm working on upgrading humanity. So if I can reach you, I will. But I can tell you that I don't, I don't manage TikTok, but I make content that goes on TikTok.
So what we going to do today, Dave, is. So you guys are in for a treat because you're going to be going through a deep dive with Dave Asprey on some of the core principles of biohacking. Now normally when I do these webinars Dave. I come on and I talk about how the author's work has. Has changed my life and how, you know, I'm thriving as a result of this. But I just want to be really honest here. I'm having an awfully shitty day. So I just got back from three and a half weeks of travel. I was in four countries. Italy, the Emirates, California and London. Right. And it may have been the. The time zones, it may have been what I'm eating. But I just got back. I'm here in Estonia. I'm here actually on holiday with. With my son. And so we rented this little cabin out in. In nature. My son might be walking in, in and out. But why I'm having a shitty day is today. I don't know why. The past two days, my energy has been completely busted. In fact, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I just want to get a checkup because I can't understand why I feel so unfocused, why I'm not sleeping well, why I feel so lethargic. I've had to have two afternoon naps today. And I don't know what it is, but why I'm looking forward to this call is because I want to learn from you. Because I know you precisely talk about this. So when I started your quest in Mindvalley, I started your quest today. I'm on chapter two. You asked everyone to choose a goal. And the goal could be better sexual performance. It could be focus, it could be metabolic efficiency and losing weight. For me, it's energy. It's raising energy levels, Right? So that is my goal.
So.
So for those of you who are here, you may have your own goal, but you want to pick a target as you go through the program. And what you're going to find is that Dave, in this program through 14 days, is going to show you how to break past those targets. Now, if you're a Mindvalley member, go ahead and just type in. Just announce yourself, because all of you already have access to the program. So the reason you're here on the webinar is to get a taste of Dave in the next 40 minutes. And then if you find that you love what you're learning, go into the program. The program is approximately. I'm going to tell you the. The. The length of the hours right now. So you know how much content is in the program. But it's 14 days. It's about 20 minutes a day. And in those 20 days, the program is four hours and nine minutes total, stretched out over 14 days. And every day, you get a new protocol, you get a new habit, you get new wisdom, you get your supplement stack designed for you. You learn how to optimize sleep so you can get deep sleep and get this five hours a day. And at the end of 14 days, you are a completely new person. But Dave will ask you to choose a goal. Dave, what are some of the goals that you ask people to choose in the program?
What I found from looking at more than eight years of running the world's first biohacking lab in LA underneath Arnold Schwarzenegger's office is that there's five goals that people have and they're not the same. You can't say, I want to be healthy because it doesn't mean anything. So you might look at putting on muscle, you might look on getting your energy back, losing weight, on learning how to train your body to be more resilient to stress, which is what I think is part of your energy thing that's going on here. You're. You're a resilient guy, but there's always a tweak. And then you have things like cardiovascular capacity. All of those are different goals, and they don't always even line up. And the fifth one and the biggest one for me, cognitive function, you can train your brain. So getting your energy and your brain back, which is what you're asking for, is different than if you're like, Dave, I'm having a crappy day because I'm not a balloon animal and I need more muscle. The totally different solution. So let's pick the right goal.
Right? So that. That's amazing. And as you go through this, you're going to find that David's going to show you how to optimize for one of those markers. So in chapter two of the program, Dave basically says, look, you're going to learn so much that you want to see that you're improving. So pick one. It could be sexual performance, it could be energy. Pick one. And then, and then you're going to measure. Okay, now let's get started with. With today's class, I'm going to share my screen because I have a beautiful story I want to share with you of how Dave truly has had an impact on my life since 2015. So, Dave, let me know if you can see my slides.
I can indeed.
Okay, perfect. So first, Dave Asprey is the father of biohacking. I mean, you hear his story, you're going to understand why he was extremely obese at one point in his life. Low energy, a Messed up brain. And he started optimizing himself by traveling around the world, by discovering new methodologies. And he actually coined the term biohacking. So he is known as the father of biohacking. Dave, I know there is a dictionary. I don't know if it's Merriam Webster dictionary. And under the word biohacking, they mentioned that you are the inventor of the entire field. Yep.
Is that right? My name is in the Merriam Webster's dictionary under the definition of biohacking. It's a new word in the English language. In 2018, they added it and Dave.
Was also featured on the COVID of Men's Health magazine. How old were you when you were on the COVID of Men's Health?
Oh, that must have been. I was probably 40, 42, 43. But I'm in better shape now. I'm actually calling Men's Health in order to say, hey, guys, do a 10 years later thing where I can show off my abs because I'm better after 10 years not working.
And I've seen you. We were just speaking together in Ibita. I've seen you. You are in incredible shape for someone your age.
My age is 24. What are you talking about?
Chronological versus biological. Okay, so, Dave, I want to share. I want to share the impact that you had on my life. Okay, so this picture was taken the first time I met Dave Asprey. We were both speaking at an event in Tampa, Florida. This is 20. 2014. 2014 or 2015. Dave is another speaker and he shows up and he has all of these devices in a bag and. And he says, vishen, how can I biohack you? And I say, well, I wanna grow muscle. And he whips out this device, straps it to my bicep, and is shooting like electromagnetic pulses in my bicep to show me how electromagnetic pulses can increase muscular growth. Now look at my face. I'm wondering, who is this total nutty, crazy man? I was semi skeptical, but then I got to know Dave in this picture. I'm visiting his lab in Vancouver and he's showing me how to use an ARX machine. And I didn't know it, but this machine and this particular type of exercise, high intensity interval training, would transform my life. It would become the basis for the 10x methodology that we teach on Mindvalley. Now, if you look at me in the photo, you can see I'm. I'm. I look a lot different. I'm, I'm, I'm fairly chubby. I was at 22% body fat and I'm going to show you what started happening as I started going deeper into biohacking. So I was the meditation guy. I, I was the teacher of the Silver method. I had my six phase meditation. I was teaching people medit. Mindset wise I had it, but body wise I was older than I should have been. And I want to be very clear here. Just because you're meditating doesn't mean you're fully healthy. Your body needs more than just peace of mind. In Dave's program on mindvalley, he does cover spirituality. And one of the things I appreciate about Davis, he actually biohacks spirituality. We'll come to that in a moment. But you're also going to learn how to bioactive your, your physical body. So that's what I look like. This is Dave taking me into a cryogenic chamber. Dave, what's happening here? What's that number? Minus 19 3.
That is a Fahrenheit number of degrees below zero.
And what would that be in south.
I think in Celsius we get down to about, I want to say 160 below zero.
Right, so, so of course you can hack this process using cold showers, Right? But here he's showing me one of his fancy machines that help you burn off like brown fat in your body and also like, like it biohacks your energy levels. Now this is what I wanted to show you. Dave is also a world class expert in biohacking spirituality. This is me, July 2015 with two other participants at Dave's fifteen thousand dollar program. Forty years of Zen, expensive as heck. Fifteen thousand dollars. But I can tell you I've gone twice because it's worth every penny right now. Don't worry about it. Most of you are members. You're already getting Dave's quest. I'm sharing it with you here, not to pitch the program, but to show you what happened to me. In the program we learned to biohack our brainwaves. You can see, that's me with Dave. We had these devices strapped to our head and there we are with a scientist analyzing our brainwaves. We learned to biohack our brainwaves to bring on the brainwave states of monks who have spent 40 years in meditation. Dave, you want to tell them quickly what's going on there?
Yes. What we do at 40 years of Zen is we glue electrodes to your head and we show your conscious brain what your automated systems, your meat operating system, the thing that runs your body, what it's doing when you're not looking, how it's affecting your reality so you can tell it how you want it to respond to reality instead of letting it flop around and make you angry, make you distracted and things like that. I've spent six months of my life with electrodes on my head learning how to drive my body so it does what I want. This is at the core of biohacking, and the learnings from this program are built into the last two chapters of Smarter, Not Harder and into the program. When you go through this quest, so.
Many of you know that I popularized the word unfuck withable. And I wrote a whole chapter in my book Code of the Extraordinary Mind, which, by the way, was at one point the number one book in the world. And that chapter is called Becoming Unfuckwithable. And that entire chapter is based on this experience here with Dave Asprey. So that's just a random fact, but we'll go further. That's me in Dave's chamber again, learning how to get to the delta level of mind to communicate with higher intelligence. This man has also learned how to biohack, our connection to spirit. And there's a chapter on this in the program. So I was so Dave transformed my life so much, I brought him in 2016 to speak at Mindvalley's very first A Fest Festival. This was in 2016 in Mykonos, Greece. And Dave, of course, spoke on biohacking. In fact, because of Dave, the entire theme of the festival was biohacking. Dave was the main speaker. Everyone else who came, Marissa Pierre, Lisa Nicholson, Dr. Mark Hyman, everyone followed that theme, biohacking. But I learned about that from Dave. And every time I go to Santa Monica, I would stop by Bulletproof coffee and Dave's gym upgrade labs. This picture was taken again in 2015 just to grab a cup of coffee. On this particular day, I was having coffee there, and they've happened to walk by. In 2019, I brought Dave on for a short episode of Mindvalley mentoring. Now, this guy hacks everything, including your. Your. Your. The dark shadows under your eye before you go on camera. No filters, but that's what we have to. To put on our cheeks for 15 minutes before getting in front of the camera. And again, this is Dave and I in 2019, shortly after that film set. Now, I want to show you this, why biohacking matters. Now, I want to share, like, a really, really, really personal story. Okay? So remember this picture I showed you? That's me in 2015. Now you see. You see me now, and you can see the difference. This is seven years difference in me. You can see I had hair regrow. You can buy your hair regrowth, right? With red light therapy, I, you can see the shape of my face has changed. I went from 22% body fat to 15% body fat. At one point I was 13%. Now I'm, I'm actually closer to 14% right now. But I went 22% body fat to 14% body fat. Right. I put on, I think I put on. I'm at 15 right now today because I just came back from four weeks of traveling and when you travel, you know, with airline food and everything. But I'm going to go be going through the quest with you guys starting May 1st to get to 13 or 12% body fat. But you can see I literally look like a different person now. This is a combination of biohacking, of WildFit, of 10x. All of these, all of these products, all of the guys who work on them, we all collaborate with each other, we all love each other, we all reference each other's work. But a big part of what's also happening is the cold showers, red light therapy, mixing MCT oil and fat with my coffee. Gratitude and forgiveness. Forgiveness. The spiritual process of forgiveness, which is phase three of the six phase. I learned that from Dave Asprey and it's mentioned in my book. If you read the book the Six Phase Meditation, it says phase three of the six phase came out from my experiences at Dave's Asprey's laboratory for 40 years of Zen. This is why I have so much appreciation for that man. So I've touched 20 million lives through Mindvalley and I want to proudly share that. I have gone through a tremendous transformation because of Dave Asprey. So Dave, thank you for that.
Wow, Vishen, thank you. I appreciate it.
And it took me freaking seven years to get you to create a program for Mindvalley. But it's about freaking time, Dave.
It's because I'm lazy. Vision. We talk about laziness in this program. Laziness is not a bad thing. It just means you're really focused.
Yeah. So I'm, I'm super excited guys at how this lifestyle change is, is going to, to, to transform you as well. Okay, so let's, let's now go on to you, Dave, and I'm going to ask you to share your slides and take us through our class for today.
All right. Sharing it right now.
Okay. For those of you who are not members, you can access this program. By the way, this isn't going to be like a super expensive pitch or anything. You can get this program for 99 bucks. That's it? That's it. 99 bucks. Just get a monthly Mindvalley membership. You can take this program. The reason why our monthly membership is 99 bucks is because we have. We have close to 100 programs in membership. And this is a subscription service just like Netflix. So you can stay on for 99 bucks a month or you can get an annual membership and there's a special discount link that will be shared. And I think the annual membership is something like 200 if you're in a developing country like India, 300 in like Eastern Europe, 400 in the US something around there. And you get access to smarter, not harder, but all the other mindvalley programs. Right. So it's a very small investment to completely transform your life. One of the things I'm proud that we do at mindvalley is we really make this type of transformational material accessible to all. Now, for those of you who are members, which is the majority of people over here, the majority of people who are here, you don't have to pay anything extra. Just Open up your MindValley home, type in smarter. This program will pop up and you can dive into the program and don't dive in. Now, join our class on May 1st because we're going to get thousands of you together to go through this class together with Dave teaching live. And in two weeks, you are going to gain a new understanding of your body. You're going to learn the things that your education system should have taught you, but it never bothered. To Dave, all you, thank you, Vishen.
And thank you for tuning in to pay attention to this and to spend about an hour, a little bit more than an hour with Vision Me today. One of the things that you learn over the course of building a successful company, the way Vishen has and the way I have is every drop of energy, every drop of focus and every minute of time counts. And the part of you that says, I want more, I want to be more, I want to feel more, I want to achieve things in my life. I want to help others. That part of you doesn't want you to waste time time and doesn't want you to waste energy. So we're always kind of caught in this. Well, is there something better I should be doing? This is the something better that you have chosen to do and it's here. Even in this one hour, you're going to take things away that are going to change how you think Some of them are going to challenge what you believe. And before I even get into the very first slide, I'm just going to warn you, you will be surprised and you will probably be annoyed because you're going to realize that some things you've been doing haven't worked very well. And I'll tell you what they are and why and what to do about it. So let's get into it. Energy is the most precious resource in your life, and that's because if you have unlimited energy, you can use that energy to make money and you can use money to buy time. But if you have no energy, you will spend all of your money getting your energy back. I know it happened to me when I weighed 300 pounds. My energy was completely gone, my career was taking off, my brain didn't work, and I was so tired that I don't even know how I made it to the end of the day, much less go to the gym. It was actually chronic fatigue syndrome. So this is when you're really, really hitting rock bottom energetically. Likewise, if you have a ton of time and no energy, you'll just spend it sleeping. So think about managing your energy before you manage your time and before you manage your dollars, because that is the preciousness of you. Every other improvement you can make in your life goes from there. And this program is about hacking your energy. Everything you learn. Whether you were saying, I actually just wanted muscles or I wanted cardio, it actually comes down to energy. And I'll explain why and how. Most people are stuck where I was. I just happened to get all of them at the same time. If you feel like maybe you have less energy than you're supposed to have, leave a comment submission. I can see it. And others to know that you're not alone. There's an epidemic of people saying, I don't know why I have less energy than I used to. I mean, see, look at the number of people saying yes. So what we do is exactly what I did in Silicon Valley as building a career as a tech entrepreneur. I would hide how tired I was. I would put on a brave face to the point that when I went to see a brain doctor, Dr. Daniel Amen. I'm on his board of directors today, many, many years later. But I went to see one of his doctors, and when he saw me, he said, oh, this is a tech bro trying to get Adderall so he can get through business school. And when he saw my brain waves, he looked shaken and he said, dave, inside your brain is total chaos. I Don't know how. You're standing here in front of me right now. You have the best camouflage I've ever seen. This was a psychiatrist telling me that what the camouflage is, that's when you put on a brave base and you pretend like you're not tired when you're really, really digging deep. This is happening all around you, and it's designed so that you won't see it. But when you leave those comments right here, the number of people see, that's me. Yes, it's me. Absolutely. Thousands of people who are feeling this. That's why this matters to you. That's why being a member of mindvalley is so important. Because you can start where I do at cellular biology and. And you can work all the way up to the highest spiritual levels. But to do the spiritual work up here, when you're the very parts of you that connect to the world of spirit, when those aren't working right, is so hard. So the really difficult transformational tasks, they feel insurmountable. When you're low energy, you get your energy back with this program. And then all of a sudden, yeah, let's go do the Silva method. Let's do another quest. And you build mind valley in. Because now you have the energy, which means you have the time to do it. People are also reporting more stress than ever before. Would you believe that for the first time in recorded history, at least when we've been recording this, people are now asking for help with managing stress more than weight loss. So around the world, people are fatter than they've ever been. And they're not asking to fix that. They're saying, can you please help me with my stress? And then I'll deal with the muffin top. So I know what that's like. And if you feel like your stress is the most important thing in your life, leave a comment, let us know in the chat. Part of the reason you do this in a quest is that having a tribe, a group of people with shared experience, you realize you're not crazy. You realize you're not alone. God, I feel overwhelmed. Like maybe it's something my government did to me. Maybe I got sick. Maybe I got in a car accident, maybe I had a divorce, maybe I lost my job. All of those are stressors. But you're supposed to be able to bounce back. But we're not bouncing back the way we're supposed to. And there are reasons for that. And it's trainable. And we see lots of people here with sleep problems. We're Juggling my stress, says Maria. Yeah, you're not alone. So imagine this. More stress than ever before and lower energy than ever before. You see why this is such an important program. And then there's the brain fog. Now, brain fog is the most horrible thing when you have it. If you've ever been hungover that morning when you just can't think, that's kind of the feeling of brain fog. If you've had brain fog or you have it now, let people know. Again, this is about building our community so that we know. You know what? Okay. There are other people walking around. Yeah, my brain works fine. I'm not going to let people know that I can't remember what I was about to say. So I'll say something else and I'll just ramble a little bit. You bet. You've done that. You leave that in the comments. Right. Why did I open the refrigerator to get my car keys? This happens. This happened to me in my 20s and it scared the crap out of me. I bought disability insurance because of my brain fog. You can fix that, and that's part of getting your energy back. But there's other things you can do. Vishen mentioned 40 years of Zen. I tell you all of the technologies that I know of, which is most of them, if not all of them, that let you get your brain back. The techniques, the technologies that work better than the old one. Sitting in a cave, looking at a wall. Meditation. Meditation is valuable. I've traveled around the world. I've learned meditation from the masters in Nepal, Tibet, the Andes, from different lineages. And I use technology to get me to those states faster. So I teach you how to do that in the book and in this program. It's a really fun quest to be able to teach. And if you basically want to relax, you need enough energy to feel safe. Because feeling safe is a high energy state. If you want to be stronger, you need enough energy to build muscle. Wanting isn't enough. Going to the gym when you're exhausted doesn't work. What led me to build this for you and to write the book is that when I was 23, I did weigh 300 pounds. That's 50% more than my current body weight. I went to the gym 90 minutes a day, six days a week, 702 hours. That's 18 months of beating myself up in the gym on a low fat, low calorie diet. You would imagine that I was, you know, a wall of muscle. No. My pants never got smaller. I was exactly the same weight, and I was Fat and I was strong. Going to the gym and exercising doesn't make you lose weight, it makes you tired if you're low energy. I actually damaged my metabolism that way. So smarter, not harder, which is the basis for this quest, that was my revenge for that 702 hours of doing something that didn't work, because someone told me, what I want you to learn is that you can tell if something is working and you decide how long you're going to do it. You decide the goal, you decide the way to measure against the goal. And if it doesn't work, then do something else. And it doesn't matter if a doctor or a teacher or coach tells you it will work. Try it. If it doesn't work, change. That's what biohackers do. We trust and verify. And if the verification doesn't work, for instance, eating less and exercising more, then found a better way. The goal of smarter, not harder. The goal of going through this quest together is that I want to tell you the things that work best in the smallest amount of energy and time, so that if you only have a half hour a week to dedicate, you don't waste a drop of that energy. And the reason all this matters, the reason I describe upgrading humanity as the goal of the companies that I'm running right now, is that when we have enough energy, we are wired in our bones to automatically, without thinking, be kind to other humans and to the rest of the planet. It's built into our biological coding. It's built into your operating system. But when you are exhausted, when you are tired, when you don't have freedom, when you can't sleep, when your brain doesn't work right, when you're fearful, when you feel alone, and when you feel like you don't have enough energy to change those things. We aren't nice to each other. And if you wonder why the world looks as weird as it does look sometimes this is why we need our energy back. That's what drives my work. And it. So what does it look like when you have more energy? Well, number one, you wake up in the morning and you feel like you slept. Maybe you didn't need alarm. You get out of bed. You don't lay there and say, I wish I had coffee. If you bounce out of bed, tell me. And if you just have an incredibly hard time getting out of bed, let us know. I already know what I'm going to see. The vast majority of people struggle to wake up in the morning and they feel like zombies, sometimes for a half hour. Sometimes for two hours. That was my life, too. So see what's going on. All of us feel like it's just one person. No, it's everyone who's doing this quest together. We're all experiencing these things because this is the human condition that we've built, and we're now reversing that. Now let's talk about the 2pm crash. I don't know about the 2pm crash anymore because I don't have it, but it used to be the bane of my existence. Do you get the 2pm crash? Put that down. Not everyone gets it, but I would say two thirds of people I work with now experience that, and it's completely manageable. When you learn these techniques, it's entirely possible to wake up and have breakfast or not have breakfast and not be hungry, and then to have lunch and then not think about food for four hours, five hours, and then to have an early dinner and be completely satisfied and not want dessert or a midnight snack. Wake up the next morning and do it again. So food doesn't take up a third of your thoughts, which it does for a lot of people. And that's an actual, real statistic. A third of your thoughts are about tacos or hamburgers or whatever it is you like to eat, whether you choose to or not. So that afternoon crash is manageable. And what more energy really, really looks like is that you have so much energy that you can decide, you know, I'm going to start that business. I'm going to learn how to do something I always wanted to do. I'll learn a martial art. I'll take up meditation. I'll do another quest. It's easier than you think, because when you're low energy, everything looks like a mountain. And when your energy is high, everything looks like a speed bump and you can just step over it. I realize speed bump is an American thing. In a lot of the world, they call them sleeping policemen. But those little bumps in the road that cars are supposed to slow down for. So there you go. Now, here's the process of doing this. And I learned this process because I am a computer hacker. That was my career in Silicon Valley. And my last job when I started Bulletproof is I was a vice president of cloud computing security for one of the three largest computer security publicly traded companies in the world. So this, this is how I think. So when we're trying to figure out what's wrong with technology, what's wrong with any complex system like the Internet, like cloud computing, or like your body, we follow These steps, this is what you get in the Quest. There's assess. And the assessment step is really, really straightforward. How am I actually doing? What you're going to find is there's an automatic system in your body. In the Quest, we call this your meat operating system. And this is because your body is made out of meat and it does things automatically that you don't normally see. And part of what it does is it likes to tell you, don't pay attention, everything's fine. This is why you don't want to go to the doctor or the dentist. You don't want to get those labs. Who knows what you might find? But we give you a way to assess how you're doing objectively. So you can say, huh, I know my story is that I'm pretty healthy, but my reality is that maybe I'm not that healthy, or maybe I'm pretty healthy, but I'm not performing the way I want. My emotions are less stable. My brain isn't quite working. But instead of coding it over with a, you know, beautiful wrapping paper, ignoring what's inside, we're going to get you a really good assessment. So you can then change it. Then we. We monitor. This is really important. So, okay, is what I'm doing working. Imagine this. Imagine if I told you a story, got this amazing product. If you're overweight, use this product, and then you'll lose weight. You think that'd be great, but what if that product actually kept you fat? Now, if I was an evil person, that would be the highest profit. Literally what I'm talking about now is diet soda. So if you don't know where you are and then monitor things and monitoring. I explained in the book and in the quest how you can monitor how you're doing. And it's mostly about knowing your goal allows you to monitor how you're doing. So let's say that you didn't know that diet soda made you fat or kept you fat. You thought it would make you lose weight, so you started drinking a bunch of it, but you never tracked whether there was a correlation between it. Well, after three months of drinking diet soda, you would soon realize it didn't make me lose weight. But now I'm even hungrier than before. So there you go. Guys are asking about the title of the book, so you don't need to buy the book, which is called Smarter, Not Harder. When you do the Quest with mindvalley, it's a good idea to have both. And I always appreciate it if you get the book because I can go into more detail in the book, but if you just do the quest, you're going to get so much value for this that you'll probably end up getting the book anyway. As an author, I will just tell you it doesn't change my life if you buy my book or you don't. And I think I might make a dollar a book or something like that. It's not why I write. The book is for you now. And so is the quest, by the way. So we monitor did it work? Because it's possible to fall into a trap of believing something works, doing it over and over and over for years, wondering why you don't get results, or telling yourself that you're just not trying hard enough. That's what happened to me when I was fat. Oh, I'm working out all the time. I'm eating almost nothing is because I'm still eating too much, even though I'm eating almost nothing. Until one day I woke up and said, I eat less than all of my friends and I work out more than all of them combined, and I'm the fattest guy at the table. Maybe it's not that I'm a bad person. Maybe it's not a lack of effort. Maybe it's that I had bad advice and I changed what I did. You're going to figure out, where am I? How am I doing? And then the final thing is you apply an upgrade and then you do the cycle all over again. And the upgrades are what you learn in the quest. And we're going to talk about a couple of those in. In this little mini course. So let's get going onto how to motivate yourself to do this and understanding the thing that I promised you at the beginning, that I would offend you. Laziness. So here it is. You are inherently lazy. Now, for a lot of people, you go, what? That's repellent. You just basically said I was ugly. So here's the deal. Your operating system in your body does not want you to use energy because it's really worried that you might run out of energy. That's called a famine. So it'll make laying down on a bed or a couch and eating ice cream always look and feel really attractive. And it'll always make using energy feel less attractive. And this is one of the two things that we believe drive evolutionary behavior. So there's about a third of a second between when something happens in reality and when we can measure your brain waves like we do at 40 years of Zen and in that third of a second, your body decides how to color your reality. And it will inject laziness there in an effort to keep you from running out of energy in case there's no tacos for lunch. So knowing that this happens and laziness is built in, you don't have to be ashamed that your body doesn't want to do things that take a lot of energy. And then you think about it and you think, well, wait, There once was a guy who got tired of hunting all the time, so he planted some seeds because it was easier and he got tired of plowing by hand. So he got a horse or an ox and then he said, I don't want to walk. And he started riding the horse. And then it's too much work to do that. Let's build a car and then let's build airplanes and railroads and all of human evolution, all the entrepreneurship, all the things we do to improve the world are because our body, before we can think, is just trying to save energy. So laziness is a sacred drive to improve the world and humans. Yet we are taught to feel shame because our body doesn't want to do things that we know are good for us. Your body will never want to. The trick here, and if this is only one thing you take away from your learning with us today, is this. You go to the store and there's a coupon or a sale. Maybe you buy something and you come home and you tell your Partner, I saved $50 on this item. How many times you come in and say, I spend a hundred dollars on the item? You don't really do that because to your body, saving money or saving energy feels way bigger than it is. That's why coupons work. Did you really want to go to all that trouble to save a dollar? But the dollar felt important. Now that we know your operating system values savings more than effort. The next time you tell yourself you're going to do a biohack to put on muscle or to lose some fat or to do whatever your goal is, you're going to frame it for yourself like this. I am going to go save 45 minutes doing this instead of spending 15 minutes. And the body will resist so much less. So this is about getting around your internal resistance. I don't want you to use willpower to do that unless you have to. I want you to give your operating system what it wants. It wants to save money and time and energy. You can do that with these biohacks. And that also works for chef based hottie whose goal is to gain weight. Same thing. Whatever you thought was going to be hard, just know you're doing it the easy way and tell your body that. And then the resistance drops away. There's a new kind of motivation. And here is another critically important thing. In order to save energy, our brains love, love, love to take cognitive shortcuts. And they do this because thinking hard about something takes a lot of energy. About 15% of the energy that your body uses every day is just for your brain. So if you could think thoroughly, it might take a lot of energy. But if you could just maybe make a kind of a guess that's almost certainly right, or right enough to make sure you don't die, it's going to feel true even if it's not. And the number one lie we tell ourselves because our brains are lazy is that hard work gets results. This also makes people really mad. Well, do you know people in your life who work really, really hard and never see results? I know a lot of those. So, huh, maybe sometimes you work hard to get results, sometimes you work hard, you don't. Yet we believe without thinking that working hard or working more is what gets you results. And that is practical, provably false. Well, let's say you wanted to dig a hole. You get a shovel and dig a hole. It might take you days and days. Or you could work smart and get a tractor and do it in an hour. So was it the hard work that took days to dig it out that got results? No, but we think about it. Actually, we don't think about it. We feel about it like somehow there's merit to that. But that's not how the world works. In the world of exercise, there's only three kinds of exercise that we've ever really done. One of them is run away from tigers. That's cardio. And today the big innovation is you can get on a treadmill to run away from tigers in place. And then there's pickup rocks. And our big innovation is we concentrate the rocks into iron plates and then we pick those up. We can do better with all the tech that's in the world today. The third kind of exercise is for your brain. Oh, you wanted to exercise your brain. Go sit in a cave and think about nothing for a decade. And there you go, you've meditated. We're still doing those, but we know so much more and we have the data and we have the science. So here we go. Next up, let's talk about slope of the curve. What we think is that the amount of work we do gets us results. The reality is that how quickly we turn on the work and how quickly we return to baseline, that's what sends the signal into your operating system in order to make it adapt quickly. And I'm going to give you some numbers that should really, really piss you off. At least they will if you did as much cardio as I did. Let me show you an example of this. This is a typical cardio workout. So there's intensity over time. What we normally do is we get on an exercise bike and we start pedaling and then we go to our first hill, we warm up, we do some hills, we go up, we go down. 45 minutes later, we're sweating all over the place. But we did a lot of work, so we should see results. And underneath that curve, there's a lot of areas, a lot of hard work. About 10 years ago, I started talking about something called high intensity interval training, which looks more like this. It's really, really hard to do. And what you do is you sprint like you're going to die for a minute and then you walk for a minute, then you sprint, then you walk, then you sprint. This is less work. It's still really intense work. And you get better results than this longer class. So now you have a 15 minute hard workout versus a 45 minute hard workout. You win. That's called high intensity interval training. It's nothing new. Like I said, that was my first big book that helped people lose millions of pounds of weight, but it's better than chronic cardio. But this new slope of the curve biology pointed out something new. Now, what I'm showing you here is validated by three different studies from the University of Colorado. So this is real science with real numbers. Imagine a cardio workout that looked like this. You don't do anything. You have a very, very brief workout for a very short period of time. You got better results. How much better results? Well, with the artificial intelligence driven workout that is a part of my company called Upgrade Labs. Upgrade Labs is franchising. You can go to ownandupgradelabs.com if you want to open a biohacking center anywhere in North America. And it'll, it'll go global soon and we've got some tech there. And I tell you how to do this in the park, at home, when you join the quest. I can go into more details on it. But what it looks like is, are you ready for this? There's three workouts a week. Each of them is five minutes. You will not sweat during the workout. And of that five minutes, only 40 seconds is even slightly difficult. So now you spend 15 minutes a week brushing your teeth. We are going to take your cardio down to the same amount of time you spend brushing your teeth. Yes, Laureen, this is covered in the quest and in the book. So sign up for the quest and you'll actually get to do this with other people. But here's the weird thing. Remember that idea of say five days a week of going to a spin class? You're really committed. You're going to go for two months, Monday through Friday, cardio hour a day. That's 40 hours of cardio. You think you would improve a lot? Well, the studies show that that much really intense working out gives you a 2% improvement in your V2 max, which is how you measure your cardiovascular system. So weird, 2% when just kicked yourself pretty hard in the butt. Well, doing what I'm talking about, which is called rehit, which is part of how you get your cardio back re. It will improve your results by 12%. Guys, six times more results in 15 minutes a week than five hours a week. If that pisses you off, it should, because you have been sold a bill of goods. Just do it. Let's go. Run. Run. Run. Run, run. It doesn't work. It takes your energy, it takes your willpower. It takes your time away from your family, away from your job, and it beats up your knees. It is not how to do it, it is how to work hard. Because working hard has some feeling of virtue. I don't want you to work hard. I want you to get results so you can work hard on something that matters more. So apply your hard work with the best possible tools. And this one tool called rehit that you learn about when you sign up for this quest and when you read the book, well, that alone will save you a thousand thousand hours over the course of your life. That's six months of working a full time job. That big of a deal. This is why I felt compelled to write this book. It really works. Okay, people are asking, where can you sign up for the quest? And what's the book's name now? Team Mind Valley. I'm thinking you can put a link or something in here to make sure that they know how to sign up for the quest. I think when you signed up for this, they, they gave you a link. The book is called Smarter, not Harder. The same as the first slide here, but again, you want to go through this while I'm training you. We recorded for a Whole week. This quest for you and being able to go through it with other people, it makes it much easier to do it. So I highly, highly recommend the quest. So that's just one example. The book is full of these. For muscles, for brains, for everything else. So I'm going to talk about another thing. There's a major problem. If you give your body a signal to grow muscle or lose fat or have a better brain, the body gets the signal, but then the body doesn't have what it takes to transform itself. It won't work. What? Well, mineral deficiency is a huge epidemic right now. Why? It's because our soil doesn't have the minerals it once did because we keep growing vegetables in it and we spray it with glyphosate which binds up minerals and then we're eating a bunch of foods. A lot of the newer plant based foods contain a compound called phytic acid that sucks right out of your, right out of your body. It sucks the minerals out, zinc and calcium and things like that. So you think you're eating them, but you're eating something that stops your body from using them. That comes from grains and seeds and nuts. So what do you do about it? Well, you might want to do two things. And this is the chapter on minerals in the book. This is not a nutrition book. But if you don't have enough minerals, you can't build bones, build brains, build muscles. So this is one of those things that affects everything you do. You need vitamin D, vitamin D, A, K, E. You can go to vitamindake.com to learn some more about that. This is the fat soluble vitamins that drive minerals in and there's something called minerals 101. If you take a multi mineral and you take vitamins D, A, K and E, you're good to go. If you don't, that's, that's where to learn more about that. When you join the quest, I'll make sure that you know everything about the different minerals. You would be surprised how many people watching this right now don't know that they're deficient in copper and that that's why their skin doesn't look the way they want it to look. Or they're deficient in zinc and that's why they keep getting sick. You think you're getting it, but it's not going in, I tell you why. So that way if you meditate, if you run fast, if you pick up stuff, if you do anything to improve yourself, the improvements happen faster. With enough minerals, we're talking even Things you probably don't know about, like phosphorus or potassium or sulfur or cobalt. Did you know that cobalt drives bone density? It does. To the point that when I had surgery recently, they had a hard time cutting my bones because they were that dense. That's crazy. So you're going to learn what's missing and how to get it. This idea of anti nutrients, is it going to make you mad when you sign up for this? That I tell you what spinach, especially raw spinach and raw kale do to your mineral balance and to your kidneys. Turns out there is a problem going on when we eat a lot of these things. And I just want you to have enough minerals so that when you meditate, your brain will change. And so that when you exercise, your body will change. It's really important, and I tell you how to fix it. We're also going to get into the idea of how do we exercise better? And your body just doesn't care about how much time you spend doing hard stuff. In fact, the more time you spend, the worse the results are. And the reason is that you have this system in your body that doesn't understand what's going on. Little cells inside the body, and they're trying to figure out, is this a safe place or not. Should I be building tissues or should I be getting ready to save my life? This isn't up to your conscious brain. This happens long before you ever become conscious of something. When you do those long cardio workouts or you even keep doing, doing heavy lifting every single day, your body decides that something must be hunting it. In a. In the normal world, you would run away from the tiger or run towards the deer for a brief period, and then you would have food and be safe afterwards. But if your body thinks that, huh, there's a tiger chasing me. And I never stop. Because you climbed a hill on your little StairMaster and then you rested a little bit, then you climbed another one, then you climbed another one. You know, I never get a chance. I never get a break. What works best is lots of nutrients, lots of minerals, brief stimulus, and then quickly returning to baseline. Even by changing your breathing, the body goes, oh, my God, something almost ate me. But I'm safe and I've got nutrients let me transform quickly. And that is why I show you in studies how to get six times more results in 15 minutes versus four hours by using that little hack that's really, really powerful. And then you want to learn how to chill. So learning how to chill is. It's really hard. We can talk about it all we want. The thing about chill, how to calm down, is that it doesn't come from thinking, it doesn't even come from the mind, it comes from the body. And that's why this idea of having a meat operating system inside your body is so powerful. And the quest is structured around how do we hack into our own operating system to make it chill so we feel chilled. And one of the things that makes you feel anxious, and this is a major problem right now, is that if you're lacking nutrients or even just lacking calories because you're trying to cut calories and exercise more, the body gets a sense of anxiety. Like you're being hunted and there's a famine at the same time. Or maybe you have toxins interfering with your ability to make energy when you're really, really trying to focus and you just can't do it like a car backfiring. All of those create physical anxiety that then comes up as a feeling to your mind. And then your mind makes up a story and says, well, I'm anxious, I'm stressed, maybe it's whoever's on TV in front of me, maybe it's some candidate for some office, maybe it's my spouse, maybe it's my boss, maybe it's blah, blah, blah. You're looking for a reason, but the reason isn't emotional, the reason is physical. So that's really important. And I talk about how to chill using techniques honed on upgrading the brains of 1500 high performance entrepreneurs, including Vision, over the last eight years. At 40 Years of Zen, every week I have eight high performing people come through and we work on their brains together. What I'm telling you right now is why there is an executive chef and a bunch of supplements. Because I can't get people into advanced states of altered meditation without adequate nutrition and lower toxins. This is a major part of your anxiety. And I will teach you the reset mode when you sign up for the quest. The reset mode is at the core of 40 years of Zen. And in fact you see many elements of this in Vishen's book. Because when you're doing his meditation, when he talks about gratitude and forgiveness, that is the reset process. And in this quest I will share that with you. Because the reset process lets you turn off notifications in your body. Now if you had your phone and you're looking at your phone, you turn all the alerts on. So all of a sudden you can't use your phone because it's constantly going off unless you've Done a lot of personal development work. Maybe you've done some of the quests that mindvalley offers already. You probably have notifications going off every single second of your life and you're trying to focus and trying to improve yourself. And this little angry voice in your head, you can turn it off. And I've done that. And it was a lot of work and it frankly took a lot of money. It doesn't have to. I just want you to have the tools to get the progress the fastest. And we will cover that in the quest. So this is why I do this, because the transformation in my life, both the physical transformation and the mental, have been really, really profound. Now, Vishen made me promise not to show off my abs, but I am at 7.9% body fat right now. I'm never hungry and I can focus for as long as I want, and I never felt better. It's pretty remarkable what you can do. This is the book people are asking about the questions before. It's called Smarter, not Harder. And just look at the warning at the top. Warning may cause better results with less effort. Few people are willing to say you don't want to do the hard work, but all of us are willing to say, we want to get the results. I want you to get the result. And I don't want you to spend even one more ounce of effort than you need to to get the results. And my goal is that 10 years from now when we talk, it'll take even less effort because we're gathering the data. We're doing this together in a quest. We're doing it together as biohackers. We're doing it together at upgrade labs. And the more we learn about the human condition using science, even using AI, which is a part of how I know how to write this book. And I know what's going on with our brainwaves, what's going on with these exercise techniques out of grade labs. We're getting better and better at being humans. And this course is the culmination of more than 20 years of biohacking. So you know how to do what works best for you right now, because all of those are important, important variables. So if you haven't read the book, read the book to prepare for the course. If you've already said, I'm going to join the quest, join the quest and get the book. Because the book is going to support you in the quest. You do not have to buy the book, just going to want to because it's worth it. And there's one other thing that I'm going to ask you to do. If you go to a coffee shop and someone makes a good cup of coffee and you put a dollar in the tip jar, the way you do that for authors like Vishen or for me is you just leave a review. It takes about 20 seconds and it tells me the book was worth it for you and it tells other people that it's worth their time to write it. I think of all the books I've written, this book saves the most number of hours of human life doing stuff that doesn't work very well. I want to give you thousands of hours of your life back. And the rest of the time when you're doing what you want to do, to do it with more energy and therefore with more kindness. So thank you. Thanks for buying the book. Thanks for joining me on the quest because it's going to be so much fun. And now let's do some Q and A.
All right, I might need some help of biohacking. So let's, let's now give an idea of what the program is about. I'm going to take you guys on a tour of the actual program so you guys know how to access this program and how to get started. Give me a sec, guys, while I share my screen.
Okay, let me stop sharing.
So, Dave, that was really, really, really fascinating. The part that I found most mind blowing was the part on, on how aerobic based exercise and even running is actually so ineffective and frankly not very useful for you. I remember reading in the book Body by Science by Doug McGuff that jogging is basically negative exercise. It actually, I mean, if you enjoy it, of course you are getting that happiness. So that's, that's fine. But it's better to walk because of the sheer damage it can do to your knees that can arise in later years, but also how ineffective it is compared to high intensity interval training.
Well, I've just got to say he's right. Doug McGuff. I was one of the first hundred people I interviewed on my podcast out of more than a thousand people I've interviewed. And the idea is that running wears your body out and sends the wrong signals in. You get weaker from long distance cardio. So does high intensity interval training replace it? Yes. If you walked 20 minutes a day and then a couple times a week did some high intensity interval training, you'll be better off by all measures. Yeah. And if you replace that high intensity interval training with rehit from the book or from the quest, you'll actually save More time and get more results.
Right, right. So, you know, there's a way to notice this for yourself, guys. I, I actually observe races from Spartan race to marathons to Ironman. And one of the things that you'll notice is that marathon runners are often not in great shape. They have. Because running long distance burns up your type to muscle fiber and musculature. Muscle fiber is one of the most important things for longevity. In fact, Peter Diamandis just created a series of videos. He's the, he's the, the, the futurist who talks about how modern medicine is, is transforming the world. And he said in a recent video, the most important thing you can do is high intensity interval training if you want to live long. Right. So I think you see a commonality there between what Dave Asprey is saying, between what Mindvalley Research do. Our programs like 10X is saying, what Peter Diamandis is saying, what I'm saying. So definitely look into that. I think this is one of the first big mistakes that people make. And it turned out In a study, 87% of American women have the wrong concept of exercise. They think that aerobics or cardio is good for them. And I'm not saying it's bad, it's better than nothing, but it's a waste of time and it's highly ineffective, even for women.
Vishen, why aren't you saying it's bad?
Say that again. Why aren't I saying it's bad? So, so I know, I know some people actually say it's bad. Right. And that's why we're seeing an anti cardio movement. I just walked into the gymshark store on Regent street in London and there was a big sign in the wall that said, you had me at no cardio. There's an anti cardio movement emerging right now. And yes, cardio can be, can be bad if you look at what it can do for bone damage. But also time wastage because you could spend that time better, you could spend that time, you know, doing whatever you need to do to alleviate stress. But I do believe there is an advantage to cardio and that's the community effect.
Oh, sure. I mean, you could do.
What do you think, Dave?
But what do you think? I think you get the community effects when you do a quest, when you do a yoga class. And what I'm most worried about is women in their 20s and 30s, in their fertile years, as fertility is declining, they say, I'm going to get healthy. So they start running. Running is anti. Fertility. So. And I wrote a big book on fertility more than 10 years ago. And the mother of my children was infertile when I met her. So I literally want you to think, wow, even if I like the endorphins I get from this, could I do a cold plunge instead of running to get my endorphins and then get all of my time back and be healthier and just go for a walk? Because walking is also community.
You're, you're, you're absolutely right. So here is, is a message I just got from a fellow mindvalley author who did. Who switched to high intensity interval training. So I coincidentally, this was the author who led our last challenge. So Davis, leading the new challenge that starts May 1st. This was our author, Reagan Hillier, who left, who led our last challenge, which was manifesting. So Reagan did six months of high intensity interval training, going to the gym twice a week for 15 minutes each time. Let me repeat. Twice a week at the gym, 15 minutes each time. The model she was doing was 10 x waist before. Her waistline before was 72 cm. Six months later, 66 cm. Her leg press maximum was 80 kg. Six months later, she was leg pressing 180 kg. Body fat 17.2 to 14.8. This is a woman in her 30s and she's working out. She got rid of cardio. She's only doing two sessions in the gym. 15 minutes each. High intensity interval training using the 10x methodology. Okay, so you guys see how powerful this can be? Now there's a lot more. So what you want to do is you log into mindvalley, type in smarter, and the quest will emerge. Okay, so now you can see smarter, not harder. Dave, confirming you can see my screen.
Yes.
Okay, so you can click on overview to see an overview of the program. But let's dive into, let's dive into the lessons. Okay, so when you go into the lessons, you will see that we start with Dave getting the right mindset for biohacking. So observe how high quality the production is. As you, as you watch Dave, I'm going to jump forward. He completely demolishes the mitts. Now you can speed up, you can jump to, you can jump to different sections. There is a discussion. There's tons and tons and tons of stuff that you can browse through. But how the quest model works is this. You want to go through this for 10 to 15 minutes a day. Now, most days are 15 minutes. The first day, lesson one is 28 minutes. But that's because we are kicking off. I Just finished lesson one and it's amazing. This is on hacking your energy levels. So now as you go to the lesson, there will be assignments for you. Okay, so you will. There might be a. There's a workbook you can download. You can choose the right hack. In this case, you have to choose the right hack based on your level. And all of these are available for you in the program. It's beautiful. It's really easy to go through. And you can also do this on your Apple TV device if you have an Apple tv. Or you can download this on your Android or your Apple phone by just getting the Mindvalley app. Okay. So you can see it is. It's 14 lessons and you can do the preparation content already today and then you can start on May 1st. You'll be actually done on May 12th. So it's 12 days. Now, when we built this with Dave, we brought in what is called transformation theory, which means we are not just like shooting a fire hose of knowledge into you. We're working on your belief system and we are working on your daily habits and protocols. And then we are working on concepts such as self identity, rate of application. This is why mindvalley products have such a high level of, of, of transformation. You can read some of the initial stories that have come up of how this program has made a difference in people's lives. These are from our test group. People who begin using this program to transform their health. So this is a rough overview of the program and again, there are some really cool tools that you can, you can, that you get as bonus. For example, remember we spoke about 40 years of Zen and these spiritual technologies to help you biohack your way to higher levels of spirituality. We actually have provided the human sound from 40 years of Zen. They are, they are shopping list that you can get recommendations for supplements and dosages, hormonal supplement guides, even a get some ice cream recipe which is biohackers form of ice cream, which I cannot wait to dig into. So there's a lot here that you can do. Okay, now to get access to the program, you want to go to the link, go mindvalley and I'm going to ask my team to make these links simpler. I'm sorry they are so complex. Go.mindvalley.com Biohacking 2023 okay, so this will give you a discount. So I'm accessing this from Estonia. Tallinn, Estonia. So Estonia is in Eastern Europe. So our pricing is different based on the country, the region you're in. If you're In Eastern Europe or Southeast Asia or the Middle east, it's going to be 299 a year. If you're in the US or Western Europe, it's 399. We give a small discount to people in developing countries. If you're in India, it's going to be, I believe, something like 199 a year, obviously, because in these countries, Right. People may not be able to afford American prices. And we want to make sure that although we are an American company, we create as much diversity as we can among our participants. So that's how you access the program. Go.mindvalley.com Biohacking 2023 I'm going to have Ramya from my team paste that link again. Could you please paste it in the chat? Ramya? Okay, now let me take you through some of the things that we'll be covering in the program. So this is the curriculum and Dave, feel free to go through this with me. So in part one, you're going to learn to hack your energy levels and metabolism. Dave, could you give us an idea of what you'll be covering here?
We talked about some of it, but we're going to teach you some of the things you're doing that suck energy that you think are giving you energy. Like I mentioned diet soda before, but that one's obvious. So there's a lot of us who we heard something works, so we built it in. And then we're wondering why we aren't feeling as good. So I'm going to tell you the most likely things that are holding you back.
Okay, then we go to part two, which is hacking your brain and nervous system.
This is a really big deal because the world of technology has changed so much that we can monitor brains more easily. And when you can measure a brain, then you learn, well, this technique will works and this one doesn't. So I'll give you a bunch of techniques to take yourself out of stress mode and right back in. Starting with free techniques that everyone can do just with new knowledge. And then there's lowcost things that you might want to buy. And then there's the stuff that crazy billionaires do, which you'll probably find that at upgrade labs or 40 years of Zen or something. The fact that you can do it with crazy tech that costs a lot of money at first. That's where the early innovation happens for people are willing to overspend. So everything in here is designed to have a free thing and a moderately expensive thing. And then the crazy thing I want you to know that it's real.
I see. Right, perfect. So depending on your, depending on where, how much, how deep you want to go, there's free, moderately, expense, moderate, and then like expensive, depending on the solutions that you want. Next is hack your stress and recovery.
You know, I mentioned that if you want to get results from lifting stuff or from that cardio workout, we talked about the rehit thing. What you end up doing is focusing on returning your heart rate back to normal and having the. The type of heartbeat that is an unstressed person relaxing. So I'm going to teach you how to turn your stress off so that you can recover faster. And a big part of recovery is sleep. So talk about how to shift your circadian rhythm. For most of my life, and genetically, I am a night owl. I wrote this book late at night. Late at night. And I developed all the notes for the quest late at night. So what you're going to learn here is if you need to become more of a morning person or at least a mid morning person, you can do it. And I'll tell you how to do it. And I've done that for myself.
Okay. Next, hack your strength and fitness.
Well, I walked you through the very basics on cardio, but there's an equivalent way of changing the way your body puts muscle on. So you can put muscle on three to five times faster than what you think works.
Wow. Wow. Okay. I cannot wait to.
I mean, vishen people are asking me, where's the body shot? I mean, I'll show you my abs if you don't believe me, But I do 15 minutes a week.
Yeah, show us. Are you able to do that? Now?
This was not my plan, so I don't have my velcro shirt on, but. All right, guys.
Okay. Check out, check out the video.
I didn't do workouts, but I like to think I'm doing all right. I don't know the lighting, but like, there's crazy muscles and stuff. And if you look closely, there's stretch marks. So, yeah, this is, I don't know biologically that they tell me I'm 50. My lab tests say I'm 39 and I used to be obese. So if I can do.
Probably easier to weigh. That's amazing given you used to weigh 300 pounds, right?
I'm 197 pounds and 7.9% body fat right now.
That's incredible, Dave. Incredible. Next, hack your spirituality.
Hacking your spirituality. Any kind of meditation, any kind of spiritual practice is worthy and thank you. If you were Doing that for yourself and for all the people it affects around you. If you have kids and you have a job and a commute and you only have 15 minutes on your spiritual practice, you owe it to yourself and to your community to make it the most effective 15 minutes in the world. And that's what I'm going to teach you how to do with the reset process. When you do that intensive process to let go of the things that make the voice in your head so mean, you get the most improvement per minute of anything I've ever found.
Amazing, Dave. And this is a day by day guide. Okay, so we're all going to kick off on May 1st. Hack your energy, hack your supplements.
And.
Why we want you guys to go through this day by day is because it's a lot. If you try to just go through four hours in one day, this program is roughly four hours, nine minutes of content. That's not counting the bonuses, the PDFs, the, the, the human sound meditation from 40 years of Zen. But 15 to 20 minutes a day is just about right because of the way we constructed it for you to layer on beliefs and implement new habits. There's a beautiful definition of transformation from the University of Toronto. Transformation is the gradual accumulation of new meaning schema that helps you show up in the world in a new way. Every day you layer on new meaning schema, you understand exactly what supplements you should be taking and what you should avoid. You understand exactly what exercise everyone else is doing that is a waste of time and what you should be doing. You understand how to hack your spirituality. But we do it bit by bit, layer by layer, and at the end of it, you are a new person. There's one more thing the University of Toronto says about transformation, and by the way, a lot of their research is what is integrated into mindvalley. They say a mind, once expanded, can never go back to its original size. Or in other words, true transformation is an irreversible shift. Once you learn this, it is an irreversible shift because you're literally a new person in terms of how you are connected to your body. Okay, so it starts off on May 1st. You're going to boost your brain power, improve physical fitness, master nutrition, increase energy levels, optimize sleep, mental clarity. And folks, this is not just about your body. All of this also leads to an increase in how you show up at work in better productivity. If you're an entrepreneur, I guarantee you if you get the results here on your body, you're going to be making more money. Because your brain, which is what governs your decision making as an entrepreneur, as a. As a career person, is influenced by your body. Dr. Daniel Amen, who Dave spoke about, did a study in the end in 2020, and he shared it on the Mindvalley podcast. And he said that for every extra bit of fat you put on around your belly, if you're a man, or around your thighs as a woman, it slows down your cognition. It has a negative impact on your brain. And so if you can shed fat, your brain actually has less brain fog and it's better. Okay, so again, the class starts on May 1, and when you sign up, this is what you want to do. When you click start the program, you'll see an option. Join a class so you can go at your own pace. But we recommend you join the class and then choose the May 1st class. You're also going to get a link where you can join a telegram group, and this is why it's really useful. Every day in the telegram group, our facilitator will ping you to remind you to dive into the program and do your homework. And we found actually that people who joined the Telegram group are 40% more likely to complete the program and thus see results. And at the same time, Dave is going to be coming live at the end of every week to answer questions and share more wisdom with you guys. By the way, Dave, we have 2,500 people on this call at its peak. Okay, here are some joining. Yeah, 2,500 people. So. So thank you for. For showing up and delivering this incredible value. So check this out, guys. Sabrina Newman, okay? She reduced her sleep to five hours a night. So you think you need more sleep, but actually it's depth of sleep that's necessary. Dave, tell us what's going on here.
What's going on? I. I missed those. Sensei. You said, what's going on? It sounded like gut lost. There was a glitch on my audio.
Sorry, sorry. You know, Dave, I remember talking to you and you were telling me in an interview we did that you sometimes only need to sleep five hours a night because you go. So when you sleep.
I got. It was get less sleep. There was just one little glitch right there. Yeah. So if you don't get enough quality sleep the next day, you can have 40% less ability to manage your blood sugar. And your IQ can drop by 10 or 15 points. People say, what? Your IQ can change? Yeah. If. If you don't believe me, get drunk and wake up the next morning and you will fail your IQ test. So your IQ varies based on your toxin level and your energy level and your level of focus every day. So one night of sleep basically gives you pre diabetes the next day, unless in that five hours of sleep you got high quality sleep. I can sleep five hours a night. I get 90 minutes of deep sleep and 90 minutes of REM sleep. I sleep six and a half hours a night on average.
And those are because you've learned how to go really deep in sleep. Yeah. Okay, now this one is from Lawrence. Lawrence, by the way, lost his leg in an accident. And he did Mindvalley's high intensity interval training. And he was able to walk again because his strength in his one leg that was left increased 200%. And that was enough because he put on a ton of weight after losing one leg because he was, he just gave up on himself. After understanding how to rapidly grow muscle, he increased the strength in his other leg by 200%. He was able to walk again with a prosthetic, carry his daughter. And now he's a fitness trainer. That means he's a Mindvalley fitness trainer. Yeah. Now check out this one. Simeon Petrov. Sluggish and drained all the time. He used a program to hack his energy levels and, and metabolism. And these are just a few. So this tasnim implemented the cold showers and the vitamin D A model to keep our energy levels high. Now, we only had about maybe 50 people go through it. And these are just some of the stories that, that, that they, that they shared. These were our test group. Okay, so 14 days. You're going to get 14 days of the program, roughly 15 to 20 minutes a day. Day one is going to be a little bit longer. 28 minutes to prepare for that. Just budget time for that. 28 minutes is so easy, guys, that's like half a typical net Netflix TV show. At the end of every week, Dave is going to come on live to, to, to answer questions. So this is only for those of you starting on May 1st. So jump in now. Like, don't, don't say, you know, May is a busy month for me. I'm going to jump in in June. That's a stupid decision because, guys, if you're having a busy month, you need this. The 20 minutes you put into this, you're gonna buy back so much time because your brain will start shifting immediately. Dave, isn't that true?
Oh, yeah. You feel it very, very quickly. Part of it is your intention, part of it is there's a community field effect that I Believe is real. In fact, it is measurable. And part of it is this, this stuff actually works. Like all of that together is pretty powerful.
Okay, so that's the guided Telegram group and that's it. And of course, by becoming a Mindvalley member, all our programs are open to you, right? So after you do this program, you don't have to stop. You can dive into speed reading with Jim Quick. You can go deep into high intensity interval training if you want to get like the body of a bodybuilder, do 10x. You can learn intermittent fasting with Ronan Diego. You can build a business with Mickey Agrawal. You can dive into the six phase meditation, which as I said, phase three of that was inspired by Dave. All of these are now open to you. Okay? And mindvalley is known for being highly, highly, highly effective. We have this, this number here is now obsolete. We have 19,000 case studies that you can read on stories.mindvalley.com 19,000 case studies. In fact, we are so convinced on the efficacy of this platform that anytime in the first 15 days, if you sign up now, anytime in the next 15 days, you can basically just click on your account and click cancel and the money goes back to you. You don't even have to send an email or call up anyone. Instant cancellation. You get the money back. You could theoretically sign up, do this entire program in less than 15 days and refund yourself. That's okay. Look, if you can't afford it, that's okay. Because we know that your life is going to change so much. You are going to stay and you're going to do the next program and the next program and the next program. And who knows, someday you may be one of this case studies. In fact, I'm pretty sure you will be. So that's it. The challenge starts May 1st. You're going to get all of these incredible bonuses only if you join right now. And you're going to get $100 off that. That's huge. That's about 25% off your entire mindvalley price. Okay, so let's summarize. You're getting all of this, guys. The value of this program is worth way more than what you're pricing. What is it like, how much is it worth to you to be able to shave off hours a week and unnecessary exercise? Maybe two, three hours a week and still have a fit body because you're exercising smart? What is it what to you to be able to optimize your brain so your IQ is actually 5 to 15 points higher people would pay millions for that because of the result it's going to have in your work. What is it worth to you to completely reverse your age? I showed you my before and after photographs. What is that word to you? I bet it's worth more than 99 bucks a month, right? So you definitely want to dive into this. Try it again. Try it risk free. The reason we make it risk free. You can cancel anytime. Is because we know how powerful this is. And that's a quick little picture you can take with your phone, a QR code to be able to get the link to dive into the program and get that hundred dollars off right now. Dave, let's do some questions. Okay?
Okay.
Let's do it in our last eight minutes. Okay? I'm gonna keep the QR code up, and we still have 1800 people here, so I'm gonna open up the Q A box. There's a lot of the questions with the most upvotes. Okay, guys, feel free to upvote. Upvote the questions. Okay? And the first question I want to ask you, Dave, is, look how strict is your diet. I'm hanging out with my kids right now, and look what these. Those critters got me. These are like. These are pancake balls. Now, Dave, do you live a life where you cannot have pancake balls with your kids? Occasionally.
What I do is I make the equivalent of pancake balls using foods that are compatible with my biology. I know that for me, if I eat cow dairy protein, that I will be dumb the next day and no amount of coffee will take away the brain fog. So to me, it's not worth it for that kind of kryptonite. So we make them out of things that work for me. So many people listening. Handle cow dairy just fine, and then you eat them. Right? But just knowing your kryptonite is so terribly important. So I eat carbs when I want to eat carbs. I have dessert. I have delicious foods in my life. I just don't eat the delicious foods that give me a hangover over the next day. You have to know what those are.
Right, I see that. That, that. That's an awesome response. So getting to your level of body fat. 7.9. Body fat does not mean sacrifice.
But by the way, and no one could see the. The video before, there were, like, hundreds of people saying we couldn't see it. I'm going to show my body fat again. And, guys, I wasn't trying to diet for this. Yeah, but this is the. The way I look, just Normally like you've got the obliques and whatever and you can do the, you know, pumping abs or whatever kind of workout stuff that those guys do, but you can see like the weird, whatever that muscle's called right there. I used to be fat. You saw the stretch marks on there. Probably. So all I can tell you is this isn't because I worked hard.
It isn't.
It's because I have the right tools. I, I work out 15 minutes a week. This is from eating stuff that's compatible with me. Ever hungry.
You work out 15 minutes a week?
Yeah, this week I haven't worked out at all yet, but I probably will.
Jesus. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. What is a day like for Dave Asprey? Can you take us through a day?
My days vary quite a bit, but generally I wake up around 7, 7:30. I will usually wake up, I will take supplements that need to be on an empty stomach, including some cognitive enhancers. I'm on thyroid hormone, have been since I was 26. Most people over 40 need thyroid and don't know it. And you can't have anything else with that. Then I'll do some sort of biohack, like some breath work. I have a full upgrade labs at my house here I might do something. And then 20 minutes later I have a cup of Danger coffee, which is my new mineral enriched coffee brand dangercoffee.com and then during the day there's about a half hour to forty minute window set aside for biohacking and I just pick something that you'll read about in Smarter, Not Harder, something you'll learn about in the quest. And I do that. Maybe it's whole body vibration. I make sure to go outside in the morning and get sunshine in my eyes, which has been a practice for 20 years. It's one of the reasons that I don't live full time in Canada anymore. I'm in Austin because I get sunshine here that I couldn't get up there because sunshine is that critical for staying young and staying focused. And then throughout the day, if I feel myself getting triggered, which happens maybe once a week, at this point, it's my fault. It means there's something in my gun if I can be triggered and I need to unload that. And then I do the work, I do the reset process on it and I do something to improve my brain.
Go to bed and that reset, that, that sorry, that reset process when you get triggered, is that your forgiveness protocol?
Yes, that's the forgiveness protocol that's in the last couple chapters of the book and that we cover towards the end of our quest together. It really works because it doesn't matter what it is, if it's big or small. If something took me out of my chosen state, then I've got work to do.
Amazing. Amazing. And forgiveness has become a topic I talk about so much as one of the most powerful mental spiritual hacks. But I always say I learned it from Dave Asprey. He introduced me to the entire thing at 40 years of Zen at his institute in Seattle in 2015. Dave, there are lots of questions here on focus on improving. Focus on I asked the one by Yamila on pancakes. Okay, so that's great. On the difference between biohacking and neurofeedback, could you briefly cover that for me?
Yes. Biohacking, the definition when I created the movement, is the art and science of changing the environment around you and inside of you so that you have full control of your own biology. So an example of biohacking might be I changed my lighting and that affected my consciousness. So this is making the environment change you. With biohacking, it includes teaching your inner environment to behave itself. So neurofeedback, or biofeedback, is getting a signal of what's happening and showing it to yourself in real time so that your body will regulate itself in a better way. So neurofeedback is a part of biohacking, but all biohacking isn't just neurofeedback.
Amazing. I love that response. Okay, so we are in our last two minutes. Dave, any closing words?
Yeah, it has to do with forgiveness and that reset program, that's part of the quest. One thing that I've learned that is not common even in advanced spiritual teachings is that if you want to forgive and forgiveness is actually letting go of a grudge so you don't become reactive, it's not telling someone that you forgive them. It's not saying whatever they did was okay. It probably wasn't. But it's just about no longer having a reaction to it. If you want to do that, you cannot do forgiveness without gratitude first. So if I something has pissed me off, what good thing happened? It could be the tiniest good thing. You've got to get that part of it. If that was the only thing you walked away from the whole whole quest with was understanding. Oh, even if I'm pissed, something good happened. That's what causes your. Your body's operating system to open up so that you can consider reprogramming yourself to not be reactive anymore. You can't just say I'm going to forgive. You have to be grateful first. So that's a little tidbit I didn't cover. I just feel like that's so important. And also I'm grateful that you invested 90 minutes of your precious time and energy with Vishen and with me. And I am 100% certain that you will get value out of this quest or I wouldn't have spent a week of my life recording it for you.
Fantastic. Thank you so much, Dave. And thank you everyone for joining us. So just a couple of quick questions people ask. How can we join the telegram group? When you sign up for the quest, Click on Chapter 1 and below the video we give you the link for you to sign up to the telegram group. Okay, so it's right there in chapter one. And then you, you access the quest by logging into Mindvalley, clicking on programs and typing in Smarter or type in Dave Asprey and you'll find it. It's super easy to find and it doesn't play at this specific time. You can watch it at any time it's recorded. But at the end of every week and it's written in the program, Dave will come on live and you can join Dave live and he'll go deep into Q&As. So all of you guys who have these questions, you'll get a chance to ask them on May 7th. I believe the first live call is May7. That's when Dave is coming on. Okay, so I'll see you guys there. And for those of you who are not yet a Mindvalley member, check out what our members are saying. Right, how people are saying it is the best investment of their life. Just go to the link I gave you. Sign up. It's 99 for a month, but it's better to get a one year membership which is going to cost you 299399 or 499 depending on where in the world you are because you get so much for it. And remember, it's guaranteed 15 days risk free. So thank you guys. Can't wait to see all the new members who emerge as part of this. Dave, thank you for joining us.
Thanks Vishen. Thank you for listening.
Take care guys. Bye.
Sa.
