📈 Day Trading Forex Step-by-Step | Proven Price Action + MACD Strategy on cTrader

Vladimir Ribakov teaches day trading on cTrader using gold as an example, combining price-action trend structure with MACD indicator signals. Entry requires a clear trend, a two-wave retracement, and a MACD moving-average crossover. Aim for at least 1:1 risk-reward ratio and a 50% win rate on 5- or 15-minute charts.

The market does not care that you need profit, that I need profits, and that we need it now. We want it now. Hello traders, how are you? Vladimir here from Home Trader Club. How to do day trading? Moreover, how to do it in a way that you can actually become successful profitable trader? Let's break it down in this video. By definition, day trading is the attempt by traders to profit from the price fluctuations during the same day, either buying or selling the instrument. The idea here is to make your profits within the same day. The day traders aim to close all their trades during the day. So sounds magical, sounds like a, a job which you can do every single time, whenever you want, wherever you want. Whenever you are available, right? But as tempting as it sounds, there are very specific things you need to remember that the market does not care. That's the main thing. The market does not care that you need profit, that I need profits, and that we need it now. We want it now. The idea here is to be able to spot these opportunities. And day traders, pretty much similar like scalpers, are hunters. They wait for the opportunity. You can spend an hour, 2, or 5 doing nothing. Just wait for specific levels and then get it done. There could be very busy days. There could be days that you will be simply doing nothing. You need to be able to peacefully live with that, okay? Understanding that not every single day is a paycheck. Some days are, and in these days when they are, that's your days to make sure you make the numbers work for you. Meaning with the right risk management, with the right money management, with the right approach towards all that, you would be able to make it successful. So let's break it down, the trading strategy behind day trading. Couple of things before we start. First of all, this video will be presented on cTrader platform. I was exposed to cTrader several months ago. I'm a MetaTrader guy for over a decade. All my tools were built for MetaTrader. However, with all the recent changes on On the markets, there are some amazing trading platforms. CTrader is simply one of them. It has tons, tens of advantages over other trading platforms. Here is the list of my favorite ones, all the advantages why CTrader is superior to other trading platforms. I believe CTrader is on its way to become the leading trading platform. So this video would be presented on cTrader platform. The second thing I said, there are a couple of things before we start with the charts. The second thing is if you enjoy the content I create for you here and on all the other videos, then I want to invite you to join our trading family, the Home Trader Club. It could be done on any instrument, basically. The reason I present it on gold is because, one, gold is volatile during the day and provides many great opportunities. Two, it's a very popular instrument for traders. You guys love gold, and here is how to do it properly. I will be using 2 very simple concepts, methods of technical analysis, and that would be price action and price trending structure and MACD, 2 of my favorite combinations, I would say. So, uh, the MACD here, uh, it's basically the way you can put it on your chart is you go to the indicators list in a cTrader platform. Of course, you write it down. That's the recent ones, but you can find all the indicators you want here. That's the installed one and the standard. Just scroll it down and you will find all the indicators you love. So MACD by default is, and it's supposed to be, with 26, 12, and 9, the moving averages which represent 2 moving averages for the cross, uh, and the histogram which is the distance between the 2 moving averages. There is also horizontal and visible line of zero. Every time we are above the zero, both histogram and moving average, the momentum is bullish. And when they are both under the zero like here, the momentum is bearish. So how do we do trading, day trading successfully? So first of all, day trading definition, as we already discussed at the beginning, the idea here is during the day, within the day, to enjoy the price fluctuations, which simply means these waves. It could be done, and I would say even should be done, on time frames like 15-minute time frame or 5-minute time frame. For day trading, I do not recommend doing 1-minute and tick trading simply because it, from my point of view, this is more in the category of scalping. You can watch this very video here about scalping on cTrader platform. And also I want to remind you that I created a dedicated special list about the cTrader platform, how to use that and all its fantastic features it has, and also lots of technical concepts and trading strategies that I will be keep Adding inside this playlist, so watch it right here. So two things we will need for that one, and I will go blank screen for that. We need to find clean trend structure. The definition of trend, and you probably heard me saying that many times in my past videos, but it's important to remind if you didn't or if you are new to our channel. By the way, if you are new, please consider to subscribe to us with the subscribe button below this video. Bullish trend sequence of higher high. highs, higher lows, or in a very clear definition, sequence of highs and lows in the same direction. A bearish trend is sequence of highs and lows in the same direction but to the downside, right? Uh, when— as long as it is going, enjoy it, right? Look for the bounces and try to join that. What do we do when the trend changes? First of all, we can trade this move down until it will change again and then join Again, the ongoing trend. The logic here is follow the structures of higher highs, higher lows. More than 2 highs and lows in the same direction, at least 2 of course, give you the opportunity to join the momentum. With this simple definition, I will be presenting here for the buys. For the sells, it's absolutely the same, just mirrored. So what you need is trending structure. Okay, and here we are on gold, for example. Okay, we are in a bullish trend here, pretty obvious as you can see. But let me take yellow, uh, line here, it will be a bit more visible, I think. Uh, so we have bullish trend which flipped afterwards, providing here— by flipped I mean starts to make lower highs, lower lows here, right? And then at some point it flips again and recreates the bullish structure. So all this time it is in trending structure. You would want to go and enjoy that. Now, this is the first, very first thing, right? In this bullish trend, once the price flipped by breaking this low, we can look to sell, right? As long as the price didn't flip. And here, after this sequence of highs and lows, the price flips again. So now we need to start looking for the buys. This is the very basic of price action. And on gold and other major instruments, also oil, also the euro-dollar and pound-dollar, dollar-yen, and sometimes they might be less volatile and less trending, but the logic is absolutely the same. So for the buys, what you will want to have is a sequence of highs and lows retrace and bounce to the upside. At that very point, you will want to see moving average of the MACD crossing to the upside. So for example, uh, oh, by the way, before the example, when you have the trending structure, wait for the retrace in a corrective structure, meaning you want to pull back in 2 waves here before it bounces. Or in a range, something like that. Okay, that's what you want to look when you are buying. So for example, if we look on this structure, we start to flip the bearish trend before making higher highs, two corrective waves down. Make sure you have the MACD on the negative side, meaning below the zero line. And then when the moving averages manage to cross each other to the upside. This is your time to consider a buy. Okay, so that's the bullish view. We continue. We got the rally highs, higher high, higher low, higher high, and again we have two waves to the downside. Remember, two waves or a range. After that, look for the moving average crossing to the upside. That gives you here another buy opportunity. Okay, let me zoom in a little bit so you can see that clearer. When we cross to the upside, we continue to rally. And as long as that's the case, don't try to prevent it. Don't try to stop it. Two waves down. Wait for the cross. The cross happens here. That's your next buy. Okay, so. Let's continue. We go up again. Of course, we continue again in the bull, making the sequence of highs and lows, retraces, and again the bounce with the cross of the moving averages. That's another sign for the buy for you. Okay, we continue. Then we have— keep in mind this: as long as the sequence continues, you have nothing to change. Then you go in a range here. Breaking above the range with the moving average again crossing upside, then another range, another cross. Well, this one is actually live, okay? And as long as this sequence continues, your bullish run is on and you don't need to change that. What do you do if it starts to flip and this low is broken, for example? Then look for the retraces. Look for the MACD peaking and then look for the sale. Absolutely same, just mirrored. Now this is simple yet super powerful method to join the momentum within the day and to try to enjoy the next developing wave. The most important part here to remember, not every trade would be a win. There will be losses. And in order to make that working in your favor, you need at least 50% success rate with at least 1:1 risk-reward ratio. So the best way to do that is by default setting targets higher than 1:1. So for example, if this is where a cross happens right here, right? You want to think, okay, so if this is my risk, I would be aiming at least to the previous high, and I want to make sure it has more than 1:1 risk-reward ratio. If it does not, try to connect, uh, the recent trend lines of, of the peaks. So like this, for example. Okay, uh, when the next, uh, cross upside happens, it's here, right? You ask yourself, okay, at that point, if this is my risk, this is my profit, do I get a good risk-reward ratio by setting to this high? The answer is no, no way. It's less than 1 to 1, which means you either aim higher if you have the room for that, based on the levels and the trend lines, of course, last highs and lows, or simply you skip a trade. You have to maintain this positive risk-reward ratio and aiming at least 50% success rate in order to make the numbers work for you. So the combination for day trading, the way I love to do that, is simple price action by simplest way of definition of highs and lows in the same direction, getting correction in 8 waves, ABCD, or a range. And then get the MACD crossing in the direction of the trend, maintaining a positive risk-reward ratio. That's all you need to use in this strategy. So once again, ideally 15 minutes or 5 minutes. I would not recommend less. I would not recommend spreading yourself in more than 2, 3, 4, as many as you can control during the day instruments, because many traders try to do it with as many instruments and then they lose opportunities. So Focus on the 2, 3, 4 ones you can control if they trigger you, and that's enough for the day. So that's pretty much it about this video. I hope you found value in this video.
