Hi guys, remember me? It's Wendy Day. I'm back. So I'm starting a new 2020 Vision series and today is the first day, um, and this one is for producers. Producers are the backbone of the music industry. As you guys all know, this is very much a production-driven industry. And when I did the first 2020 Vision series in January, um, producers kind of got left out, and I didn't mean that to happen. So as I promised back then, I would do a series this summer and devote it directly to producers. So, um, here we are. Thank you guys for tuning in. Um, we're gonna go for the next 30 days, so it's gonna run from July 15th to August 15th. It's gonna post here on my Instagram TV the day of release around this time every day, and it will be posted to my YouTube page to live on in infamy. And we're going to talk about all different types of things that are going to help producers make more money with their music. We're going to talk about sample clearance and royalties and leasing versus, um, uh, purchase beats. We're going to talk about— I'm even going to do some interviews, I think, with established producers so that you can learn how they got from where you are today to where you may want to be. I think that would be really helpful. We're going to talk about independent beats versus major label beats, building relationships with artists. But the first thing that I want to talk about really is branding, because you guys are a brand as a producer. You are a brand, and just like you tag your beats with something clever so that people recognize it, you've got to then put that out into the world and let people know who you are. Not just the tag, but who you are as a producer. You know, what you stand for, what you're about, what— why you started making beats. Are you doing this for the money, or are you doing this for the love of hip-hop? So, you know, people want to know the backstory. They want to know who you are and where you came from and what, you know, what got you here today. And what we're gonna help you do is learn how to figure that out for yourself and get your career to the next level. Now, I want you to really understand this is not gonna be an end-all be-it series. My goal in this really is to help you get excited about researching information and facts and learning how to build your career and how to do better. I'm just going to give you information, but I can only give you the information that I know. Like, it kind of stops here, right? I do a lot of research, I talk to a lot of people, and I really care about accuracy and being authentic and correct. And I think you guys know that from my brand, But it doesn't just stop here. Like, you've got to keep researching and keep learning and keep understanding. I'm 28 years in this industry and I still go to panel discussions and online webinars to learn more about the music industry. And if I can do it, you can do it. This industry is not hard. It's really about who you know, relationships, and your knowledge. And those two things can really get you very, very far. And if your goal is to make money doing this so that you can quit your day job, or just always do this out of passion, or become the biggest producer in the world, or just make a beat here and there, like whatever extreme passion you have, let's put it to good use. Let's see you build. A, um, viable business model. And let's see you get your stuff out there. And that's what the next 30 days are going to do for you. Again, it's going to be here on my Instagram page at Rap Coalition, and, um, it's going to live on in infamy at my YouTube page, my channel, which is youtube.com/thisiswendyday. Thanks for tuning in to the first one. See you tomorrow.
