Hey guys, how are you? So today we're gonna talk about social media posts, and one of the things that you guys have shared with me is that you run out of ideas or you don't know what to post. So I've put together a list of stuff that you can post on your social media, and this would work for your Instagram, for Snap, for Facebook, for Twitter. So I just want to give you some ideas, and I'm gonna fire them at you really fast. So you're probably gonna want to save this so that you can refer back to it when you run out of ideas. So, um, the thing about social media is you want to be consistent with it, and you want to post at the times that make the best sense for you. And I've got a video on social media and posting, so you might want to review that. It was pretty early in this series, so it's probably one of the first 5. Or 10 videos that I did. You might want to check that out, but the most important thing that I'll remind you is to not always be overly promotion-y. You want to share stuff from your life and invite people into your world as well as, you know, promote your music and your, you know, whatever you've got going on, your videos, your websites, whatever. And the best ratio that I've heard is 70/30. So it's 70% lifestyle posts and 30% promotional posts. So here's just some ideas, like I made a list here, so I'm gonna read 'em to you. Share feel-good quotes, like things that you find out there that inspire you, post 'em on your social media. Share fan content, run and promote a contest. The great thing about doing a contest is you can give away like $50 or $100, and people are really happy to win something from you. So not only are you able to make posts when you're promoting your contest, but you can go live on your Instagram and Cash App the person the prize. So you're live awarding the prize and you get to, to, um, cover their reaction and their genuine emotion at winning something. And it also shows that you're actually really paying off. It's not some bullshit. Um, Lil Donald does this a lot and it works really, really well. He gives away more than $50 or $100 bucks though, but that's a great starting point. And make sure you're posting when your fans are online. You can go into your stats and see where the bulk of your fans are online. Um, celebrate little-known holidays, you know, Happy Assistance Day or Happy, you know, Blue Pill Day or whatever. Um, just make sure it's a real holiday. Um, you can Google a list of holidays and you can celebrate shit that nobody else is celebrating, and it could be kind of funny if you have a good sense of humor. Partner with other artists and promote their music. So you might promote one of your friend's songs to your following, and they might promote one of their songs to their following. It's just a nice way to switch shit up. And it doesn't have to be music. You could do this with an internet personality, like a YouTuber or an Instagram influencer, where they promote your music and you promote their product, whatever it is. You know, be a beacon of inspiration. Say something really encouraging. Use humor. Post a meme. Ask open questions. You know, ask people where they're from. Ask them what it was like growing up in the city where they grew up. Ask them, you know, did they like high school? Did they like college? Then you can also ask closed questions, ones that, you know, require a yes or no answer. Do you like this song? Yes or no. You can post a song and put, you know, the fire emoji or a trash can emoji. You know, get people involved in what you're offering. You can match your content to the seasons. You can talk about the weather. This is especially great for you guys that are in the Northeast or the Midwest where it actually snows, because a lot of the population is in areas like the Southeast and California and even the Northwest where it doesn't really snow. So if you've got a snowstorm, shit, go outside and play in the snow, you know, hit people in the head with snowballs so that, you know, you can share the experience of snow with people that never normally see it. Like, people find that shit interesting. And vice versa, like, if it's January and you're in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, you know, go to the beach and talk about how, you know, there's a snowstorm going on in New York, or so you hear, and here you are spending the day at the beach. Like, that's just really cool shit, and people are going to want to see it. Post links to useful blog posts. Promote your other social media profiles. Celebrate your growth and success. This is especially easy at the end of the year when Spotify releases all of your artist numbers and tells you how many streams you had over the year. Um, you can do that though, like every time you hit a certain milestone on your YouTube views, you know, 100,000 views, 200,000 views, a million views, whatever, you know, post that shit. You can share offers and promotions with your fans, you can comment on relevant topical events, you can announce the contest winners for different contests that you run, you can share a photo collage, you can show fans listening to your music, you can show other people performing your song. You know, like if there's a social media influencer that is rocking out to your song, or a really cool Triller video or TikTok video, post that shit. Um, show the fan videos that are made of your songs, you know, the videos that your fans make. Show strippers dancing to your song. Who doesn't like to see an ass bouncing on Instagram? Um, flashback to different events in your life. Tell a story about where you came from, or what it was like for you to go to high school, or You know, be a little bit vulnerable, be authentic, tell people, you know, where you're from and how you grew up. Host a virtual celebration or event. You know, is it your birthday? Is it your dog's birthday? Celebrate that shit, go live. Ask fans to caption a photo. Post content, you know, like based on a theme, you know, hashtag TBT, you know, hashtag, Uh, what is it? Uh, something Crush Wednesdays, you know, whatever. Just, you know, post during that, that topical time of the week. Share visual data and charts. Shit, I do that every Saturday. I, I hashtag Saturday and I post different, um, charts and statistics about the music business. You know, it doesn't have to be the music business. If you like sports, do it with sports. If you like weed, do it with weed. Like, whatever you're into, post stats and, and charts about that, you know, movies, whatever. How many people saw your favorite movie over the weekend? Ask your fan base to contribute photos so that you can post them. Um, post a quick quiz or a brain teaser. Take part in something that's trending. You know, if something's trending, like when Kobe passed away, you guys shared different photos and, um, and snippets of you know, what Kobe meant to you. Somebody doesn't have to die for you to do that. Like, do that shit all the time. Go into the main part of Twitter or Facebook or Instagram and find out what's trending and comment on whatever's trending. Post a photo of the day, you know, post one every day. Um, try a simple post that says, you know, like if you live in the suburbs, like if you live in the the, um, city, like if you're in the hood, like if you're in college, like if you're single. Um, share what inspires you. You can repurpose your content from other platforms, so you can take a Facebook post and turn it into an Instagram post. You can take an Instagram post and turn it into a Twitter post. You can interview experts within your industry. You can ask your audience for feedback. What song do you like? You You know, what videos do I make that you like? You can show behind the scenes at the studio. You can provide live updates from different events or performances that you're doing. You can show off awards and achievements. You know, did you, did you win trophies when you're in high school? Are you, you know, do you have any outstanding numbers on, you know, a video game? You know, post that shit. Share a mini infographic. Share cool links to content from others. Um, there's a repost app that makes it really easy to repost videos and content from other people. Um, integrate really popular hashtags into your posts so that when somebody is searching for something by hashtag, they stumble upon you by accident. Share something cute like an aww moment, you know. Um, puppies are big, kittens are big. Um, ask your fans to give more feedback, you know. Ask them what they think of an outfit. Post a picture of you in a certain outfit and ask them, you know, what do they think. You can even use the app called Stitch, and, um, it might be called Photo Stitch, but you can post two outfits side by side and ask them which one they like better, A or B. Like, involve them in your lifestyle and your imaging. Share secrets or unknown facts about you. Motivate fans with a morning pick-me-up. Ask your fans how they're feeling. Run a poll, you know, ask about their opinion on something, on anything. It doesn't have to be about you, it can be about life in general. Share a trending meme. Share an embarrassing moment. Again, um, be authentic with that. You can be a little bit vulnerable, but you can share an embarrassing moment that actually makes your fans laugh, and they can laugh with you, not at you, you know what I mean? Um, post something that's artistic. If you like graffiti, post graffiti. I post a lot of, um, b-boy videos that I find online because I love that shit, you know. I love graffiti. So you'll see in my post like different, um, graffiti that just really touches me. And it's not necessarily stuff that I see in real life, it's stuff that I see on my feed and just repost. And of course I give everybody credit, like I do the repost. I don't just steal their photos. Um, ask your fans to take a pledge, you know, do, do one nice thing a day for a week, or, um, you know, if you're single, pledge to say stay single for a month or whatever. Um, post something shocking. Maybe staying single for a week is shocking. Share an amazing experience. Explain a process step by step that your fans might be having a problem with. This is especially useful when new apps come out or when the new iPhone's released. Talk about, you know, the new emojis or how to set up, you know, whatever on the new Android or the new iPhone. Promote your email newsletter. If you don't have an email newsletter, collect email addresses, set up a landing page, drive people to it. Share post-worthy content from fans. Share alternative uses for, for, for products. That's called hacks for products. And, and a great example of that is people use newspaper to clean mirrors because it cleans the mirror really, um, so that it's really sparkling and there's no streaks, right? So you hit Windex instead of using a paper towel. Use some newspaper. You can find that shit online by Googling it, right? It's called product hacks. Ask fans to share a single, you know, who's married, who's single. Remind fans to revisit your pages regularly. You can drive people to your Facebook page from your Instagram. Tell people, people on your Facebook page to go to your Twitter page. Tell people on your Twitter page where your Snapchat is. Ask fans to tag a friend. Share some words of wisdom. Tap into nostalgia. Um, there's a rapper out of New York who loves The Goonies, and he talks about The Goonies in his feed, and it's really interesting. Um, show human faces behind your brand. Interview your team members. Ask them, you know, how— what their job is and how they do it, and what's the best part about working with you. Ask them what the part about working with you is that sucks. Everybody has that. And it could turn out to be kind of funny. And if it's not, don't post it. Um, ask a true or false question. Ask for input on your product development, like what song do they like best, what video do they like best. Bring fans with you. Show them a day in your life. Tell the story of one of your days with photos that you're posting throughout the day. Use custom-built graphics to, you know, to show stuff. Use videos to show stuff, like lyric videos. Take a selfie. Invite fans to do the same, you know. Tease a big announcement with a countdown. Ask fans to guess what that countdown might be, you know. Um, tease information behind a link. Announce a website or, uh, redesign or branding redesign. Did you get a new logo? Your album cover? Post it. Share a cartoon strip. Host and promote a Twitter chat. Ask, ask, um, ask me anything, you know. Do one of those where people can ask questions. Shout about something that's really important to you. I would stay away from religion and, and politics because you don't want to alienate your fans. But if there's something that you really care about, talk about it, you know. Um, was there a trade that just happened in the NBA that really pisses you off? Shout about it, talk about it. Show random fan pictures. Invite friends or your team members to provide personal recommendations. Liven up boring topics by pairing them with lighthearted stuff. Celebrate the weekend with a hashtag TGIF. You know, share or create an animated GIF. So those are just some of the topics, and that's about 100 of them. So for those of you who say you don't have anything to post, well, now you got shit to post.
