Two musicians discuss what emerging artists should do first: identify who loves your music, see what other artists they follow, and use that to find your lane. It's not a box. It's a map.
So what should an artist do first? I mean, obviously they're making music, and I'm, I'm going to assume that the music's good. So what, what can an artist do first to stand out? Because there's so much music out here.
Do first— now that takes a little bit more strategic thought of who likes what I'm doing, right? Right. And what do those— what are the other artists that those people like, right? Right. And then I'm starting to form some sense of a lane based off of their perception, right? And now that I know my lane per se, right, I know artistically that sounds like restricting. It's not, right? It's not actually empowering, right? It is another way of seeing stuff.
