From the artist's perspective, what should they look for in a manager?
Um, somebody that's gonna work as hard as them, somebody that understands their vision, somebody that adds value. I tell artists all the time, sometimes you don't have anything to manage, you know what I'm saying? Sometimes people have a manager just to have a manager. You have to have things to manage, but also that manager has to add value. They can't just be picking up the phone or answer the email. They have to be doing stuff to help create business for you, to straighten the business that you have, figure out some other opportunities, and just, you know, be like I said, overall be an asset. And to help with whatever your flaws are. There's a lot of artists I know that just don't like— they don't like to speak, and they don't— they might be the best businessman, business mind in the world, but they like to stay in the back of that because they don't want to mess with anything that they're doing artistically.
