What makes Patty Gasso so successful?

Hi everyone, this is William Davis and this is today's Leadership Minute. Sunday's the Super Bowl, so officially at the end of that game, the 25-26 football season will be over. It used to drive me crazy when that happened because I often wondered, what do I watch between football season and the beginning of football season the next year? Well, being a University of Oklahoma fan, I don't have that problem. Because OU softball, coached by Coach Patty Gasso, has been a dominant force for the last 26 years. In fact, they've won 8 national championships since the year 2000 and just came off a 4-in-a-row from 2021 through 2024. So the question is, why is Coach Patty Gasso so dominant? 8 national championships don't just come from strategy. They come from fierce advocacy. You see, her players— and it doesn't matter whether they've been with her 1 year or 4 years— her players know she has their back, win or lose. That is transformative leadership. That's fostering success on the field by ensuring your people feel valued off of it. That's how you build a legacy that lasts. It doesn't just happen on a softball field or a football field, but that can happen with you. But it starts with you. This is William Davis, and that's been today's Leadership Minute.
