3 Ways to Scale Your Lawn Care Business FASTER

Will Kelly (Military Lawn Cuts) presents a short YouTube tutorial aimed at lawn and landscaping entrepreneurs on three ways to scale faster: (1) adopt a 10x volume mindset — dramatically increase repetitions of core growth activities (mowing, door hangers, ads, calls); (2) systematically track data — clock start/end times for every job, maintain income/expense breakdowns, and use that data to make marketing and hiring decisions; (3) find a coach or mentor in the same industry (often paid or via value exchange) to accelerate learning. The video mixes personal experience (he’s built a seven-figure multi-location business), anecdotes, and calls-to-action to join his paid community for SOPs and coaching.

Hey everyone, it's Will with military lawn cuts. And in today's video I'm going to be sharing with you how to scale faster than literally 99% of the competition. And if you watch all the way to the end, I promise you, you will be left with the right mindset that you will be able to scale your business. Whether you are just thinking about getting in the lawn and landscaping business or if you are already are in the game and you already started your business, maybe it's you, maybe you've got a couple of helpers on the side or maybe you have five or ten employees, like this will all help you to scale faster. And after five years of grinding, putting my head down, if I took a step back and I said okay, well we're right here, how do we go there the fastest? These are the three ways. Also a little bit of context for you guys that don't know who I am or what I do. My wife and I have built a seven figure multi location business. I also have a home service scalers community that we've built. We actually one on one, we coach clients on how to grow their business. These three things are what I see those people grow the fastest. So when we have somebody come in that is maybe only doing like 5 or 10k per month or less than that, 3, 6 months goes by, 12 months goes by and all of a sudden they've double tripled their business. These are the three things when I'm like, hey dude, like, like what did you do? The very first thing, the differentiator of what makes someone good, average or an expert is all comes down down to repetitions and volume. And us as humans in our minds right now, today, you who's watching this video have an amount of effort it's going to take to grow your business. You have it right now in your brain. You're like, okay, yeah, if I do, you know those many interviews, if I put that many door hangers out, like you know, I should get customer right or I should get a good team member, right? You already in your brain have a certain set set of amount of effort that you feel that you think it's going to take. The reality is it is going to take 10 times whatever amount of effort that is in your brain. It will take 10 times the effort. I'm telling you that right now from somebody that has gone down the entrepreneur road, that is an entrepreneur actively in the weeds with you guys, every single time, it takes 10 times the amount of effort. Here's the good news on that if it doesn't take that much, you win. You will achieve that goal. When it does take that long, you're not, not upset or you don't feel like you're burnt out. You're not having a bad day because you already knew that. Will Kelly told you. Somebody that's been in the game longer than you, okay, it's going to take 10 times the amount of effort. And it's so funny because I was literally just talking to somebody recently who just started a tree trimming company and he was telling me how many door hangers he was putting out. I'm like, I'm like, how many did you buy? And he, and I think, I think he was like, oh, I bought a thousand. I said, okay. I said, how many of those have you put out? He's like, oh, yeah, you know, a couple hundred of them. And I'm like, we need to be adding zero zeros, number one to, to, to, to these answers. Like, this is not enough volume. If you think it's going to take that amount, like there has to be a zero at the end of that. It's going to take 10 times the amount of effort and energy that's number one. If you understand that volume wins, you will do more of it. You will understand. I need to mow more lawns. I need to put out more door hangers. I need to knock on more doors. I need to do more ads. I need to do more Facebook ads. I need to do more coaching calls. Volume, ladies and gentlemen, volume. You see this book behind me, the 10x rule. Live it, dude. Put it as a background on your phone and whatever you're thinking today, 10x, that will get you to your goals faster. Give me all worked up here, ladies and gentlemen. In a good way. In a good way. It's because I'm, I'm, I'm very passionate about helping people and it upsets me when people stop quit throwing the towel when they were literally right there. Like you were, dude, you were right there. Just stick it out another week. Stick it out another month, dude, you had it. But instead they decide not to. I'm going to share this with you. The reason most entrepreneurs go to the gym is not to get ripped and it's not to get swole. It is to develop a mindset of feeling. Like when you want to quit on that seventh, eighth, ninth repetition and you're pushing that bar up as hard as you can and your arms are shaking and you're tension your whole body and you're going to feel like you're going to quit that, you bang out three more of those. And the people that do that, that push yourself to the breaking point and go and do three more at your breaking point are the ones literally went. Those are the ones that went. Sorry, a little side context there. If you're tired of guessing your way through this home service stuff, we built a shortcut inside our private school group. We give you access to every SOP document and every blueprint that we've built that took us years to figure out. All you got to do is go down in the link in the description below, join the group, and you'll gain access to all of this stuff, including myself, to help coach you and grow your business. All right, number two, Number two. Okay, we got to stay on track here. Well, Kelly, here we go. This is not so much in the beginning, but once you get started, I mean, once you get 5, 10, 15 customers, like, you got a CRM, you're getting things rolling. Data is the most important thing in your business outside of, like, sales. We just need to track. We need to track all of the data. And I see so many businesses that aren't tracking data. What is data? To start every visit and every job that you go to. Let me ask you a question. Are you clocking in and recording your. Your time, your start time, and your end time of how long that job takes you on every single visit, every single estimate, every single project? Yes or no? In fact, you can put in the comments below, yes or no, and we'll see, really, who's doing this. Okay. People that scale the fastest are the ones that track this data, that lean into this concept that everything matters. Every data input is important, no matter if it's the winter season, whether it's the summer season. Because what we do as entrepreneurs and business owners and good stewards of our time, we need to gather the data, we need to pull the data and say, okay, how long does it take them to mow this lawn in the summer? How long does it take them to mow the lawn in the winter? Okay, what's the average? We need this data in order to make decisions. And I see so many people, they come to me and they say, hey, well, where should I put my marketing dollars? What avenue should I go? Like, should I buy this other truck? Should I not? And it's like, are you tracking the data? Because I'm going to start asking you questions here of, like, how long is every job going to take? How many budget hours are you going to do? I'm Going to start asking you these questions. And if you don't know the answers to the questions, that's first thing that unlocks massive growth is the data side of the business. You have to make sure that you are tracking everything and having good data, not bad data. Right. Like profit and loss statements, income and expense sheets. Like are you at the end of the month pulling up your bank account and going through each line item to say, Okay, I spent 50 at Walmart to buy trash bags for disposal bags. Cool. I spent $30 here buying tools at Home Depot Rakes Shop. Okay, like great, let's categorize that in the beginning you don't need all these, this fancy software, QuickBooks, Gust, all this stuff. Like just get an Excel spreadsheet. Okay, how much money do we make this month? $5,000. Cool. How much do we spend? $4,000. Cool. But where did that $4,000 go? This is data that we need to know to be able to make data driven decisions in the business. If you don't know what the data is and you don't know where your $4,000 is going to the month, how do we know how to make better decisions in the business? We don't. We need the data. And this is like becoming more and more aware of like me. Like when I do all these coaching with these people, they don't know the data in order to make the decisions. You will scale much faster if you come to me as a coach, provide me with the data and say, will, this data shows me this. And then in this season, this data shows me this. What do you think I should do? Cool. Now we can actually make a data driven decision because we have proof of concepts that actually are tracked. Number three. One of these big things that I still am learning from a pure, humble humility standpoint. I also need to do this is find a coach and a mentor that is in the same space as you, that are aligned with your core values. Similar vision of like what you're wanting, that has already accomplished and done what you've done, that has what you want. Find a coach and mentor, reach out to them if you can. Get in with them, buy them lunch. Freeways are always the best ways. Find a way to bring them value. Most people say, hey, will, I want to be coached. Okay, cool. I'm, I'm very busy too. Like I only got 24 hours a day. I'm running multiple businesses. I've got real estate, I've got three lawn businesses. I've got a media business also I've got like 20 employees that kind of not directly report to me, but indirectly report to me. So, like, dude, I'm very, very busy. I can't just give you my time, right? So like, sometimes there's a financial barrier or a financial cost to scale you faster, it is required that you pay a fee to get access to somebody that's done that thing before to unlock that growth for you. That's normal. And again, I need to do the same thing for me personally because, you know, I am in a place where a lot of the people that I talk to, there's becoming less and less people that I can look up to that are like, further down the road than me. Which is cool because, like, we're being blessed. God is blessing us with a ton of stuff. However, sometimes there is a cost associated with that and I too need to conceptualize and understand that, like, to get to where I want to go. Sometimes it takes a fee, right? Also, if you could create a win win for that person, if you could get something or unlock something that they want, like, if you know what their goals are and you're like, okay, I know what they want, maybe I can build them a website or do something like that and bring value to that person. Do you have a skill set that you can bring to the table and be like, hey, Will, I see you lacking over here a little bit. But the good news is, is I'm a professional at that. Can I do that for you? And then maybe you coach me and da da da, and it's a win win, right? Like, I'm not saying everybody to reach out to me in that scenario. And I'm not saying that I have to be your guys's coach or mentor. I'm just saying find somebody in the space, whatever it is. Could be pet waste management, it could be landscaping, it could be fertilization, weed control, insect control, whatever it is. Find somebody that is an expert in the weeds with you every single day. That's five to seven years down the road. It's going to cost for you to gain access to that person because again, they're. They're pretty busy too. But if you can get just a sliver of that mindset of the way that they think through problems and the way that they solve things. It's insane. When I look at some of that access that I've gotten from my mentors down the road in my early days, career of like, those unlocks in my brain, I'm like, wow, it propels and projects you, dude, going from here to here. When you get a coach, mentor in your corner, dude, you just slash that time in half, bro. Like, seriously, somebody that's been there, done that, veteran, like, not riding that emotional high rollercoaster you constantly and low that you're constantly dealing with every day, and it's like, dude, you're overreacting this about this stuff. This is normal. Like, I see this all the time, right? Like getting somebody's perspective like that. It really, like, disarms a lot of the things and thoughts that go on in our brain of like, are we doing the right thing? Is this. Is this the right, right approach? Am I doing enough volume? Am I tracking the right data? Like, like the previous point? Like, you. You may not even know what data that track. Well, someone that's further down the road could tell you exactly what data you need to know when you're trying to hire a manager to run business without you. You know what I mean? So, like, all that stuff, very, very valuable. Hopefully this helps you guys. Hit that like button. It helps the algorithm. Please, maybe leave me a comment. Hit that subscribe button.
